I would need a USB hub, right? Could I just tell the husband to head on down to our local Best Buy and pick up any old hub or does it have to have specific features?

. Those 4 - 6 GH/s USB miners are power hungry and typically go well above spec for USB2.0 and even USB3.0. If you're really stuck on stick mining, you can grab some Antminer U2s for about $10 each. Throw 5 of them into a powered USB hub and hash away. And yes, you can pick up a powered USB hub at your local Best Buy.
