I understand operating costs and such but delisting coins based on lack of volume is pretty telling of what makes a coin 'worth keeping'. And a lot of worthless alts are not removed from many exchanges..

He's just covering his bases. Of course it is all about maximizing potential out of the overhyped scam- or clonecoins. Bittrex doesn't even try to hide the fact that they are now purely greed driven. Check out whatever turd is currently being floated as their "Spotlight Coin." They are the only major exchange to engage in this type of cheeseball advertisement behavior.

I guess they've figured out the whole moral equivalency thing:

"Well hey, we may be greed-driven fools that promote scams over innovation, but at least we're not as bad as Mintpal or Cryptsy!"
