I like Iris too.  The DarkNet is almost exclusively for illegal purposes. Darkcoin is about privacy and civil liberties. So maybe we should just avoid "Dark" altogether.
I think this is a terrible idea. Most people can barely Computer and Internet as it is. We have an opportunity to re-define what DarkNet and DarkWeb mean, not run away from a pre-supposed definition known only to a few.

Secondly, it should maintain the branding.

I want to note that I was opposed to the "DarkCoin" re-branding from the original XCoin name. But I came around to understanding the above. DRK is wide-sweeeping enough to change definitions. "Dark" needs to no longer be synonymous with crime. DRK can make it so. That is a deeper fundamental change and Evan can make it happen with such a completely sweeping integration of functions.

I don't think that would work. Yes, the word "dark" usually correlates with illegal activity in the mind of an average person. If they saw the name Darkcoin(Dark+Coin), ok, they would probably be interested on it's purpose(which is a good thing), but if they then saw another name like Darknet, DarkPortal, or Darkland, they're going to be thrown off and probably won't want to interfere , thinking that it's illegal and whatnot.

It's basically not possible to try and rebraind the word, Darknet, since many illegal and gruesome sites etc use the Darknet for their activities, it won't work and will just drive away people from the coin.

I think the name, Iris, or maybe something similar, would be the best.
