Yes if these coins are to be worth anything it will need a rebrand and relaunch. Such as a payment gateway for FIAT. But first it will need to be listed on an exchange.

The original developers leave don't mean the coin is dead. payment gateway and the exchange market are important. But to make mastcoin stay on the market needs the basic number of users or just very a little exchange rate. so we can make effect to save it.
