I'm just checking my coin in the analyzer, and it says it is "inactive" and doesn't appear to have been receiving payouts.

I thought minted seats were supposed to continuously receive distributions, and aren't subject to inactivity policies.

Is there something I'm missing or some action I failed to perform, or could they have forgotten to be "activated" by any chance?

According to your post from 2013, you told someone that you would repay someone with a balance of less than 1BTC "after larger amounts [have been repaid]".

That was right after the hack. The handling around them wasn't great, particularly as CL issued loans to people and had to wait until they were repaid. Most of them were never repaid after the collapse.

In any litigation, any statements you make can potentially be used against you. So pirate40 for example decided to stop posting on the forum so that anything he wrote could not be used against him in court. pirate40 ended up going to prison anyway, although, by the time his enterprise collapsed, there were no lingering questions if he was running a scam. Other scammers simply stopped using their accounts after their account was no longer able to produce income for them -- some of these scammers may still be here, operating under different names.

After Inputs.io collapsed, many months elapsed, and TradeFortress made statements on the forum that IMO reduced the likelihood of being pursued in court for deposits he did not honor. For example, TradeFortress tried to join a signature campaign, despite allegedly having millions of dollars worth of stolen coin (value at the time). I might point out that obtaining a judgment against someone with no assets will only get you a bill from your attorney.

I'm still here because I didn't do anything wrong. I wouldn't have tried joining a signature campaign if I was sitting on millions of dollars of bitcoins, lol.
IIRC, after bitfinex was hacked in 2016, you had moved ~1,000BTC in order to impress some girl you knew IRL. I believe the value of 1000BTC was worth approximately $600k at the time.
Repayments happened throughout 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

let me just say that while it cannot be proved who ran with the coins from the "hack,"
As I mentioned in my previous post, I think the question of if the "hack" was real or fake is a moot point. Especially so for the inputs.io case. If people were depositing money to tradefortress' business (inputs.io) with the expectation that the money would be returned on demand, I don't think the fact that x happened is any excuse to not honor that expectation.

It's not a moot point. If there was no hack, Inputs.io would probably be running today. The hack was the reason that caused Liabilities > Assets; whereas this was never the case prior to the hack.

It was a very weird time. Felt like a financial playground, really the wild west...no feds were about to come galloping in when the stagecoach got robbed, and the only justice was a public lynching by the forum mob.

If anyone is looking to buy some nostalgia, I think I still have some ASICMINER shares around here somewhere...

I miss those days Sad

Feeling sad, looking for a place where I can gamble the last of my stack.

What sites can I gamble 50% BTC and double or nothing?

All you have to do is bet on black or red in roulette. It's not exactly 50/50 as it still there is zero as a separate color, but the odds don't change much. Roulette is available at most casinos, so just pick your favorite platform or the one that gives you the biggest welcome bonus.

My question is where I can do this for 50 BTC

You have to look at TradeFortress' situation from a legal perspective.

In circa 2013, TradeFortress was running a website (Inputs.io) that offered custodial services for its customers, and something happened that resulted in Inputs.io not being able to honor customer deposits. According to TradeFortress at the time, this was because of a hack of a hosting provider they were using, and according to some community members, this was because TradeFortress decided to steal some of the money belonging to Inputs.io customers.

This was because Inputs.io was hacked, not because I decided to steal money belonging to my customers.

Quote
Regardless of the underlying root cause, it is very likely that TradeFortress had liability when Inputs.io could not honor customer deposits. This is an important detail.

Subsequent to the alleged hack, TradeFortress prioritized deposit claims of those with larger amounts owed by Inputs.io. IMO, by doing this, he lowered the likelihood of being pursued by customers -- in effect, he did not honor deposit obligations of his smaller customers (the customers who would have the least incentives to aggressively pursue him).
No, I didn't. I did my best to reimburse customers with the remaining balance, both small and big. Later on, thanks to buying Ethereum in the ICO, I was able to reimburse a much greater portion of creditors.

Fast forward a year or two, there was a somewhat similar situation with another company, called hashie that was involved in cloud mining.

Based on what happened when hashie imploded, I believe it was a scam, although it is possible what happened was the result of TradeFortress' immaturity. AMhash, then the entity that hashie was reselling cloud mining contracts for, imploded very shortly after hashie imploded -- I think this probably points to TradeFortress potentially having lines of communication with AMhash that went dead before it was publically known that AMhash was imploding and TradeFortress deciding to maximize his profit from his company.

If you believe that hashie was a scam, a reasonable person might belive that Inputs.io was also a scam. In any case, it appears that TradeFortress is not able to cover edge cases of security issues.

Hashie imploded because AMHash, who was the seller of the underlying hash rate, decided to exit scam.

My immaturity? The fuck?

Absolutely idiotic post. This is from a decade ago, so let me try and remember:

mining4fun11: Person was a scammer.

MoneyPakTrader.com: I delivered exactly what he asked for, he tried to scam me for a refund and decided to intentionally fuck up the script I delivered and claim it isn't working, when it was.

starsoccer9: I delivered what he asked for, I think there was some things I wasn't able to get working, so we agreed on a mutually accepted partial refund.

webr3: Ripple whiner. Ripple is a scam, I was just exposing it.

Apparently, years later he tried to pay back some of his victims but in the end he abandoned the idea:

No I didn't, I practically paid back everyone who I could reach before I depleted all the funds.

The magical days of classical bitcoin securities

Remember a time when bitcoin was filled with curiosity, wonder, experimentation, and an ambition to change the status quo?

The days where pseudonyms were common, and reputation was measured by the age of your bitcointalk account.

The age of bitcoin securities exchanges coded in PHP, with contracts being dumb and in the form of text.

It began with pirate and his unbelievable 1% per day returns, with the forum filled with accusers and defenders.

Reinventions of financial systems from nerds were popularised on forums. From usagi's tranched collateralized debt obligations, to friedcat starting a successful ASIC manufacturing business before disappearing into the void. Exchanges came and went, but the mostly went, as letters from the SEC hit everyone. Most disappeared, with MPEx being the last standing.

Today, we have DeFi. We have networks like Synthetix offering derivatives on publicly listed securities like Apple and Facebook. We have the commissioner of the SEC -- who many say were selected for his knowledge of cruptocurrency -- calling for regulation on the space.

Are we witnessing the same events repeat themselves, except this time it's happening on TikToks, Telegrams, and Reddits instead of internet forums which are on life support?

Curious if any bitcointalk securities old timers still even check this forum.

I just realized that my 50 BTC donation to the forum is now worth $2.9 million. Wow! Never in my life have I expected it to be that big.

This is the most obvious 'bitcoin pizza' moment for me. What's your bitcoin pizza moment? Anything crazy you want to share?

Here's to another 10 years of HODL'ing Smiley

The way I'm criticized for my involvement with NastyFans, I have to wonder...  Do you guys want me to just stop mining on behalf of NastyFans?  What is your goal with these attacks?  Do you want me to stop spending my time trying to raise funds for seats and move on to other projects where I'm more appreciated?  I've already made a nearly million dollar buyback offer for anyone who wants to cash in their seats at a massive profit to their issued price.  It seems like people commenting here want to push false narratives and spread lies about me and NastyFans.  What is the goal?  Is that goal for your own petty revenge because you blame Bitcoin vendors for accepting your BTC and keeping you from getting rich, or are you trying to help NastyFans members grow this organization like they got involved to do?  Maybe if I understood the motivations behind these attacks, I could help you get some sort of satisfaction other than knowing you helped me buy back a ton of seats at well below their fair value.  If there's a better way to unlock value for NastyFans members than I have been doing without expecting things from me you wouldn't expect from all NastyFans members, I'd love to hear it.

People are out to troll and I don't understand it. NastyFans / Nasty Mining has delivered exactly what it promised, which is a mining co-operative with some fun things like seats. It certainly performed far less than how bitcoin itself has, but that's the reality for nearly everything.

I have a few seats but I am happy with them, and I hope everything continues.

Speaking as a small BaB investor here.

Devans, could you please cap the commission to a max of ~95%?

It wouldn’t be good if investing in the bankroll ever turned into a -EV proposition. I don’t think that’s what any investor signed up for, and the reality of the 2% nonrefundable investment fee means that new investors, and re-investors, must make long term considerations when they invest.

Furthermore, while I do have strong trust in you, a commission structure like this technically isn’t “provably fair” in in spirit, as the commission is paid to _you_, and nothing stops _you_ from investing. So let’s say it gets to a point where you own 55M XDR of Bitcoin. You could deposit it, force the commission rate to be >100%, and make _every other investor have negative EV_.

I think capping the max commission to 95% will achieve what you want, but also provide certainty to investors that they will always still be investors and won’t face the possibility of entering into a -EV trade.
