Re: Bitmain's Antminer A3 may be emitting HCHO (Formaldehyde)

Not flacking for BM, but not really rigorous enough:

a) As we all know, GPU and ASIC miners heat up a room, warm up any stands they are on. So anything in the room warms up.

b) In the video, some if not all miners are sitting on cardboard boxes. You would need to eliminate the cardboard boxes (i believe glue is used in their construction), any manufactured wood product (plywood, cheap shelving) that uses some sort of glue as a binder. Any cheap packs or bags that are made out of polyester. Any construction materials used in building the room.

(Wasn't there an issue with imported drywall a few years back?)

Bottom line, I would expect there are other material candidates in the room that outgas formaldehyde when warmed up.

The possible A3 components would be the heat sink sticky tape and maybe the electrolytic capacitors(they have a small port for possible venting).

I forget, also the packing foam used in shipping the miners would be suspect.

True, the miners must be increasing the ambient temperature in the room and as a result increasing the rate at which formaldehyde is being emitted by the ]most likely newly installed}wood products

It`s a lie, formaldehyde has a boiling point of -19 degrees celcius, even if the antminer A3 was dipped in formaldehyde and shipped in an unsealed package to you all the formaldehyde would have evaporated by the time it arrived on your doorstep.

Re: How bad is breathing in air from GPU's?
by

If you live in a dusty area the gpu fans break the dust particles into fine particles which fill the air in the room. Breathing this air for an extended period of time might lead to health problems later due to the inability of the respiratory system filtering the fine dust particles.

I believe when it comes to such long periods of time (3+ years) the quality of the fans on the GPU is more important, than whether it is 8GB or 6GB.

You can try the following website http://www.mycryptobuddy.com/EthereumMiningCalculator. It estimates the future change in difficulty through extrapolation and takes it into account when calculating yearly profits.

I used https://www.worldcoinindex.com/, is it wrong?

Sorry I have checked https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/volume/24-hour/  and I have noticed my error?

I think localethereum.com will have a positive effect on the price of ethereum.

Localethereum, a secure peer-to-peer marketplace where the user has complete control over their funds and trades, has been launched. https://localethereum.com/signup

Will this enable ethereum to be free from the influence of bitcoin price fluctuations since it enables direct eth <-----> fiat ?

Might this have a positive effect on the adoption of ethereum by the public?

Has anyone gotten the Afterburner 4.4.4 beta version to work with the blockchain driver? I find that wattman to be a pain when tweaking OC settings because crashes always reset all the settings for each and all GPUs. Any advise will be appreciated.

I have installed Afterburner 4.4 beta 16 with the blockchain driver and my rig is still stable after 48 hrs. Do not alter the wattman mclock and cclock settings, only use Afterburner to find the stable mclock and cclock settings for each GPU. I also re-installed windows 10 and disabled windows updates and windows defender.

ETH mining with 180 mh/s at the current difficulty, in a pool you`ll get around 1.5 ETH/month and with the increase in difficulty in another 2 months, you will probably be getting 1 ETH /month.

Effect of suspension of bitcoin buying/selling on altcoins

Some of the major exchanges will suspend bitcoin buying/selling from around 28th July, what effect will this have on the prize of the major altcoins? I was thinking this might lead to a prize increase of altcoins since during this period most crypto traders may prefer to buy/sell altcoins.

I am not sure but maybe the MyEtherwallet scam has led to some people dumping their ether out of fear, that caused the drop in ether, and this together with the anticipated coin split may have had a negative impact on the other coins

Re: PandaMiner Price Adjustment!
by

on 07/07/2017, 15:05:42 UTC
I`ve just recieved the email below from pandaminer, the new pandaminer B5 will be having rx 460 GPU`s instead of the rx 480 GPU`s, this means that each will be having a total ethereum hashrate of around 90mh/s.   I also believe that the RX 460 hashrate is also affected by the increase in epoch. It seems that pandaminer is moving from bad to worse, this is a very bad business idea.

Dear friends!

亲爱的矿工们:

The pre-sale of the updated PandaMiner B5 Plus will be released at 18:00 pm 7th July (UTC+8), with a total of 1000 units supplied. The new Gen uses RX460 GPU, and the price is 1765USD. Visit www.pandaminer.com for more details.

Thanks so much for your long time support of PandaMiner.

Re: Mining calculators accuracy
by
1234ms
on 06/07/2017, 10:16:03 UTC
No you cannot rely on the calculators, they do not take into account other factors that affect mining.  For example according to https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/eth?HashingPower=300&HashingUnit=MH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=140&CostPerkWh=0, my two ethereum rigs with a total hashrate of 310mh/s should be making 1,100 USD/month, but in reality they are currently making around 950 USD /month.
The calculators can only give you a rough estimate that will be close to the real results of around one week, the one month estimate obtained from the mining calculators are quite erroneous. Altcoin mining earnings have been decreasing rapidly over the past few weeks due to the rise in difficulty and drop in the prices of most altcoins.

Re: Rig won't boot, PSU making clicking noise.
by

on 03/07/2017, 06:04:34 UTC
The PSU is turning itself off due to a problem in its power supply or in its output. Check if the rating of your psu is enough to power your rig.
If it is an EVGA psu remove all the VGA, CPU and SATA cables from the PSU and attach the EVGA tester to the motherboard cable. If the PSU fan spins reconnect the cables to the motherboard, GPU`S and CPU. I`ve  had similar problems in the past doing this normally solves the problem. It is also advisable to have a surge protector before your PSU.
