Can I just confirm if I switch over to the UK server I won't loose anything shares-wise or rampup-wise (if that's a word)
I still appear to be "ramping up" after 5 days mining and don't want to loose anything.

Two quick questions:

1. Why does the Kano.is website log you out so quickly? It boots you after only about 10 mins.

2. I'm currently on the default "stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333".
As the closest sever to me is "stratum+tcp://uk.kano.is:3333" would there be much of an advantage in switching to the closer server?
A little detail would be good as while I realise pings would be important in something like online gaming but I don't understand how mining would matter much.

Ah, ok.
So Balancing is really switching by a different name where your asic would point for 90 sec out of 100 at pool A, and then disconnect to spend 10 seconds pointed at pool B.
I didn't think it worked like that at all.

I thought the whole point of balanced mining was there was no switching.
You simply point 90% of your power at slush and 10% at Multipool, in my example.

I think you used to be able to do:

90;Stratum X
10; Stratum Y

To make it work, simple as that, no switching involved.
Even if I could point 1 of the hashing boards (33.3% of power) it'd be something.

Maybe I'm confused as to how it worked as I never actually saw it in operation.
If I'm wrong in what I describe above I'd love to hear more about it and if it's possible.

I’m new enough to mining and I’ve looked everywhere to try and figure this out but I think at this stage I need to ask here as someone will know. Here is what I’ve gleaned so far if someone could confirm.

1. Balanced mining used to be possible on older firmware. (Cgminer)
2. BMminer replaced Cgminer on newly shipped (2017 onwards) S9’s.
3. Cgminer was required for Balanced Mining.
4. Putty was required into Cgminer to do the load balancing.
5. The latest firmware prevents you from downgrading to Cgminer.
6. Nobody has found a solution to this as of yet.

I’ve looked at these two threads below but they’ve gone dead, I assume because of point 2 above.

I really would like to point 90% of my power to Slush pool to mine BTC and 10% to somewhere like Multipool to mine BCH, DGB or other altcoins.
If anyone can confirm the above and let me know if there is a solution I’d really appreciate it.

Same here.
I can get to the advanced settings page but I don't want to touch it as there's no "Auto" in the drop down list to change it back to.
My frequency in the drop down list is set at 550.00M and with that setting the boards themselves are at 631.95, 639.50 & 640.36 freq will all hashing at about 4.6 Th/s.

Same here, received the PSU but not the S9 from the same order.
Mine is the 21-31 march batch so I wasn't really expecting anything.
I got an email from Bitmain on 6th March saying it had shipped and it arrived less than 2 hours later so their mails must be delayed going out as it was 4 days in transit before I got the mail.

I have estimated the duty and vat on importing an S9 into the EU at around 800 Euro (Duty 262 & VAT 560), so that would bring your total to around a 3000 Euro at the S9's current price.
UPS, or whoever, won't release the delivery to you unless you pay the ransom.
