Re: Does signing message leak private key?

That means all the address are somehow connected.
no it doesn't mean that. it means your keys were created pseudo randomly from a random entropy instead of each from a different random entropy. the end result (the keys) are still considered random and unrelated.

So if i sign a message say "This is to be signed" with Address 1 and sign the same message "This is to be signed" with Address 2 in electrum wallet and post both the signature online. Then will someone be able to recover my private key of any of the address?
to put it simply, if it were possible to find your private key from a signature like what you explained then nobody could ever use an HD wallet because the signature you create for a message is using the same algorithm as the signature you create for a transaction.

there have been some cases

I am concerned if i sign a same message from 2 different address (that are generated from same seed) then how to be sure same 'k' value isn't used? There is a possibility for someone to recover private key from both the signatures right that sign the same message?

Does signing message leak private key?

Consider this situation. I generate an electrum wallet. So electrum generates multiple address's from the same seed. That means all the address are somehow connected.
So if i sign a message say "This is to be signed" with Address 1 and sign the same message "This is to be signed" with Address 2 in electrum wallet and post both the signature online. Then will someone be able to recover my private key of any of the address? Please need some explanation here? I am worried and confused if we sign the same message from 2 two different address of same seed and then can the private key or seed be recovered from both signatures?

If I were to have 60 bitcoin I would invest it straight through coin staking the only investment I think is profitable specialy with staking known and trusted coins out there online. Other option can be on trading, kinda risky but I can handle it if I have this kind of amount. Being smart on investing you can easily double this amount

Can you give some examples of those coins please?

Why does it have to be a Crypto currency based business?

Because if start a business in real life with fiat, earning potential is less. Crypto business will give me return in crypto only and crypto price in future will further improve that return   Wink

If someone has 60 BTC can he start a decent crypto business to make passive income? Please share some business ideas.
What would you prefer? Casino/Sportsbetting/Wallet/Exchange and which has the highest earning potential?
Provided i have funds - 60BTC and no knowledge regarding business and i am not a designer but i want to start my own crypto business. Where can i start? Where can i find and hire team for myself like designers/developers etc to start my business? I know good team can help the business grow but bad team can ruin everything so what are the things to look for before starting a business? Where to get the business partners with good ideas and genuine team? Where would you start from if you are in my situation. Please share your opinions in this thread  Smiley

If you have such an amount, you can create a project based on crypto, like creating an exchange, a wallet, a casino, or something else. However, this will not be a very large business (60B * $9000= $540,000). I would trade better, it would probably give a solid profit with less risk

I personally believe trading is more risky more like a gambling and if my business get's successful i can make a decent amount of money. I just don't know where to get the genuine team and partners and what would be the best niche.

Re: Is running DASH masternode more profitable than HODLING bitcoin?
by

on 02/11/2019, 20:03:35 UTC
A simple question, If i buy 1000 DASH with Bitcoin and and run a masternode, i will generate passive income. My question is will the end result after 1 year (initial deposit + income) will be greater than if i decide to HODL bitcoin and don't run a masternode ?
I want to earn passive income but it has a risk right? What if DASH price falls after one year and bitcoin price keeps increasing, that can happen? or Bitcoin and DASH price directly proportional in long term?

My honest opinion for now would be that if you run a dash masternode for some months to make some extra profits and then switch back to Bitcoin with at least 1-2 months until halv happens. If you're a long term investors , I think both of the solutions can bring you profits but its Bitcoin would be safer lets be honest as for an altcoin you never know how it will perform. Also why risk to buy a Dash masternode ? When in my opinion , Block nodes will be a lot better than Dash.

care to explain what are block nodes and how to profit from them?

it is very easy to find the answer to your question. all you have to do is to look at Dash price over a long term (in the past) and see if it could have been profitable for you or not.

lets say you bought 1000 Dash in Jayapura 2018. it would have cost you 85 bitcoins.
with the current price of Dash, your 1000 Dash is worth 7.5 bitcoins.

in other words you simply would have lost 77.5 bitcoin = $700000+.
do you think the Dash masternode gives you that much profit?

lets say you were doing it for 2 years, buying at January 2017.
it meant investing 15 bitcoins which would have turned into 7.5 bitcoins.
in other words in 2 years you would have lost 7.5 bitcoin or exactly half.

lets say it was 3 years, it would have cost about 8 bitcoin which is now worth 7.5 bitcoins! you still lost bitcoin!

so that means it's not worth to SELL bitcoin to buy DASH or any other altcoin for that matter. One should try running DASH masternode only if buying via fiat and not sell bitcoin to buy DASH masternode. Correct?

I want to know something. If i invest and buy Altcoins like DASH - masternode. Will the returns be better than just HODLING bitcoin ?
I mean if i buy alts that give dividends, will i earn more in long term compared to if i just HODL bitcoin? I think altcoins price also rise with bitcoin pumps.

Alts have no guarantee, and almost always change in price relative to BTC very dramatically. Your BTC will always be BTC, but any BTC you change to DASH now, will be different in the future.

You could get a high return in terms of DASH, but when the time comes to convert it back to BTC the value may be much less than what you put in.

Is this 100% true? That's what i am afraid of but if history is any indicator then DASH price also increases whenever BTC price explodes so earning interest in terms of DASH then converting all DASH say after 2 years will not give me more bitcoins?

Long story short, choose BTC if you want less risk and are happy with less profit. Choose DASH if you can accept higher risk for better profit.
I like dash as an altcoin very much, and I agree with you about the risk aspect of this choice.  On the other hand, I think dash has a lot of upside potential right now and I don't believe its going to drop from around $70 any further.  I certainly could be wrong about that, but dash is one of most popular altcoins with a strong community of supporters.

It has been almost a fantasy of mine for some time to be able to run a dash masternode, but there is no way I would spend over $70,000 to do it, even if I had that kind of money.  Too bad the coin requirement is so high, but that's life.  If I were Op I would go for the masternode option, even tho I like bitcoin more so than dash.  Great way to earn passive income.

but that passive income isn't guaranteed right? After 1 year of earning if i buy back bitcoin again there is a possibility i get less bitcoin then i initially sold to buy 1000 DASH no? (bitcoin may rise to 4x next year and DASH may not) Tongue Tongue

If nothing else this thread is a fine demonstration of why most people don't end up wealthy even when it's sitting in their lap.

If I hadn't read the opening question I would assume it was 'how do I squander 60 BTC asap?'

You are a pessimistic person. It's a good idea to HODL but that doesn't mean don't invest. Not all people end up with bad investments and you can't advice all to not invest. Some people do make profit. In my opinion it is not a good move to just let you bitcoin sit idle. One should always have the mindset of earning more and more even if they own 60BTC Roll Eyes I am not saying to fall for scams out there but use your brain and do some business and start something new, don't let it sit idle but do something. That was the whole purpose of this thread to get some ideas of investing in 2019 other than usual HODL mentality.

Suppose you earned 60BTC by working hard for 5 years and one day you decide now you don't want to work then what would you do with that amount?
How would you invest that amount? What will you do? Hold it dreaming the price will rise? Sell it and invest the fiat? or start a business? or retire? Any ideas?  Tongue

60BTC in 5 years? That's 12BTC a year! Even if we take a low price of 3000 USD which was the low for the last 3 years it's still 36k USD a year. That's some serious money. You must be working hard 24/7 or gambling, or you are a UN MP those people get paid big money for nothing Wink

Holding BTC is already an investment. Why would you double the risk by reinvesting an investment?

Think in the terms of physical goods. You have a house that you're renting out and that gives you a good passive income with a small degree of risk but now you want to go play poker and put your house on the table. Do you need more money so much?

You misunderstand me, We all know bitcoin is getting stable each year. There is rarely major fluctuation in price. I don't want my money to sit idle. I want an increase in bitcoin and increase in fiat will follow. For eg: turning 60 BTC to 100 BTC in coming years by starting a crypto business. I know it's possible with some right knowledge and ideas. At my age(27), i think it's wise to take a risk instead of just HODLING and doing nothing. Don't you think?

What do you think about DASH staking? is DASH also a shitcoin? I heard DASH masternode staking gives good returns. I can invest in that and it requires 1000 DASH to begin with. Is it a good investment or do you think it's better to just HODL bitcoin which will give better returns overall?

No one should ever buy an alt for the staking. It's an OK bonus if you already own the alt, but even then I have a stakable alt and the returns are so low I can't even be bothered to set it up. Under no circumstances is it worth buying in just for that.

Everything everyone is suggesting comes with an unacceptable level of risk, or are plain fucking stupid.

You've gotten this far and have wound up with an amount of BTC most dream of. Don't blow it now.

This forum is littered with the dead bodies of people who thought they were geniuses by going balls deep into the most ridiculous propositions. Almost all crypto businesses fail. Almost all alts will die. Almost all traders fail. Almost all gamblers set all their money on fire. Almost all lending out finishes up with the money being stolen.

If you really want to experiment with different ideas then don't risk anything more than a very small percentage. Never let go of the vast percentage of your BTC.

What you are suggesting and saying is the safest thing to do and in this way my bitcoins won't increase and only risk is bitcoin loosing value over time. I am up for little risk because Warren Buffet says - "If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die". I think he is talking about passive income here and that's what i want to achieve in the long hall.

I will staking if have 6 btc in my wallet, staking have the same meaning with holding but you can increase your bitcoin waiting when bitcoin price is up, but with staking you can get many bitcoin depend which one exchange do you choose for your staking coin. You can withdraw or sell your bitcoin after staking success and bitcoin have higher price after several time staking success.

What the hell does this mean?

If you mean 'investing' it in alts for staking then that's complete and utter suicide. In return for an infinitesimal percentage of returns from a worthless alt your worthless alt will also lose 80-100% of the BTC you put into it.

Almost no one here should be listened to. It's like a hive mind of mindlessness.

What do you think about DASH staking? is DASH also a shitcoin? I heard DASH masternode staking gives good returns. I can invest in that and it requires 1000 DASH to begin with. Is it a good investment or do you think it's better to just HODL bitcoin which will give better returns overall?
I am disappointed since i did not cash out my bitcoin in December 2017 when it was up 20000$. It becomes really hard for me to sell when bitcoin price keeps going up  Tongue

Starting up a business will always be a good way to invest the 60BTC . You are 100% sure that your business can make you a double of the initial investment capital you used.  Businesses present real assets that will bring you income for a long term if your business addresses specific problem in the ecosystem you find yourself. Starting up a business is a good retirement plan. With that, you will have a source of a specific income at any moment in time.

Any good bitcoin ideas you wanna share for business?
