Have 4 RX470's with 4GB each. One of the cards is running only at 1.3Mh/s - does anyone know why this could be?

Using PhoenixMiner 5.0e, Windows 10, AMD drivers 18.6.1.

One RX 570 Draws More Power Than Others
by
AVP
on 17/03/2020, 17:14:39 UTC
I have 3 MSI RX 570s 4GB cards, with modded BIOS using 1500 straps, all were mining happily at about .0885 vcore. All was fine for a long time. All 3 cards were drawing ~120 watts each.

But recently one of the cards started drawing a lot more power, it started jumping between 150 - 170 watts, card seems stable but as result runs too hot with fans at 100%. No changes were made at all.

Any advice on what the cause of this could be?

Thanks.

Hi Dok - thanks for all your hard work on SRB.

Quick question, just trying to understand why you said Cryptonite algo coins are slowly dying and why CN miner support is EOL (end of life)?

Cryptunit.com has many CN projects and they are all very active in development - just trying to understand your reasoning behind this decision, maybe you will re-think it and continue support, it is a great miner. CN algo is also very active with many projects, duno maybe I'm missing something here. Anyways just trying to understand. Thanks in advance!

Thank for all opinions and to all that replied.

To clarify, I did not mean "what coins are profitable now" - but rather "what coins have good future" as in worth mining now and holding for future.

Promising GPU Mine-able Coins
by

What GPU mine-able coins you think look very promising at the moment?

By "promising" I mean things like: have good potential for growth, good business plan, good road map, good team, etc..

Clarification:
- I don't mean "what coins are profitable right now"
- But rather, What coins look interesting & promising in the future, have good teams, bring innovation, good dev plan and etc.

Basically what coins you think are worth mining now and holding till later.

I have a bunch of COVAL in Bittrex wallet, but they stopped operations in New York so I have to withdraw all my COVALs before June 9th.

Since Bittrex is the only exchange where can I store my COVAL funds?

Thanks.

Team's Discord channel is very active, I posted and got a useful response very shortly.

This coin is well supported. Many teams have moved support to Discord or Telegram as its much easier then this forum.

Solution was to simply add more nodes to the conf file inside the sequence wallet data directory (during installation it asked you for location, default is probably your windows C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming OR C:\ProgramData folder)

I added the following, restarted the wallet and viola, made a number of connections and started syncing.

addnode=81.221.130.197
addnode=81.221.131.172
addnode=81.141.2.125
addnode=5.80.235.102
addnode=108.61.170.242
addnode=92.9.101.96
addnode=45.77.77.109
addnode=81.221.70.211
addnode=100.45.73.75
addnode=81.221.130.199

As pointed out above, additional nodes can be found here:

Same here finding that wallet stopped working and is showing 0 active connections.

Wallet did work for a while about a month ago or so, was syncing and staking properly.

Does anyone know how to resolve this ?

Silly question, is higher intensity stronger or weaker intensity?

Let's say card is at 50 intensity, if I want to turn it up, do I set it to 45 or 55 ?

thanks.

How to check intensity that is automatically set by 0 setting?

I have RX 470s that keep crashing on 0 setting, I want to try lower intensity but don't know where to start, anyone here using RX 470s that wants to share their intensity setting?

Thanks.

When the miner starts it writes out the found gpu's and the settings. There you can see I:number where that number is the intensity.
You can find on the first page how to manually set gpu's, by using gpu_conf.

Code:
"gpu_conf" :
[
{ "id" : 0, "intensity" : 50 , "worksize" : 16, "threads" : 2},
{ "id" : 1, "intensity" : 53 , "worksize" : 16, "threads" : 2}
]

You're right, thanks for quick reply!

I'm using reboot_script_gpu_watchdog to execute a reboot bat script, but I've noticed that there sometimes a 2-3 min delay between 0 hash speed and script being executed.

Is there a way to increase frequency of the Watchdog so that 0 hash rate is detected more often, basically as soon as hash rate goes to 0 reboot script would get executed instantly ?

Re: Help with RX 470 Voltage Setting
by
AVP
on 10/04/2019, 03:53:57 UTC
Whats confusing there are 3 voltages:

VDDC is the GPU core voltage.
MVDD is the memory voltage.
VDDCI is the I/O bus voltage (between memory and GPU core) and comes from the PCI-Express slot.

https://www.geeks3d.com/20101107/radeon-hd-6870-voltage-check-points-vddc-vddci-and-mvdd/

But yeah you can check that in GPU-Z unless it reports inaccurate settings..

Ok, sort of a late response to my own question, but perhaps this will help someone.

Turns out in Polaris based cards (470/480/560/570/580) GPU core voltage will always be higher or equal to memory voltage. So even if cvddc is set to 850 but if mvddc is set to 900 both will be 900.

This has to do with how the core/memory voltages are derived from the board implementation.

RX 470s Windows has stopped this device - Help
by
AVP
on 23/03/2019, 23:22:31 UTC
Started having an odd issue where 3 out or 5 identical Saphire RX 470s keep getting stopped by windows:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

All cards are Hynix cards with modified bios straps. atikmdag-patcher_1-4-6 was applied after bios flashing.

If I disable then re-enable cards in Device Manager, they appear and can mine. But after reboot Windows stops them again.

Running Windows 10 v1809 and ATI drivers v18.6.1.

Any advice / recommendations on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is anyone experiencing crashes & freezes on GRAFT algo ?

I'm seeing this on RX 470 rigs & RX 560 rigs. (RX 570 rigs seem fine)

Re: SRBMiner Cryptonight AMD GPU Miner V1.8.0 - native algo switching

This is the problem I keep having:

After reboot, display GPU or first GPU / GPU 0 will always crash after miner is started immediately as pool sends 1st job. Other GPU's are fine, but only the one connected to display, or GPU 0 has this issue and its reproducible on 2 identical rigs so I know its not a hardware issue. Then after I close the miner and start it second time, everything is fine.

Steps to reproduce:
- Reboot PC
- Start miner, wait till received job from pool, observe crash, hit H and GPU overclock is reset to default clock
- Close miner, restart miner, works fine after that

Using RX 470s, GRAFT algo.

Anyone else having similar issue? Dok is this something that could be fixed ?

Hi Dok - any idea why this would be happening?

Also I have 2 rigs with RX 470s, and on 1.8 GRAFT algo they're not stable for more than a day, crash and reboot on both. I reduced OC and increased voltage but still not stable for more than a day. Previously both rigs ran SRBMiner v1.6.8 and very stable for 30-40 days non stop - any ideas what would cause this instability on v1.8?

Thanks in advance!

Automatic fan control ( -tt value) does not seem to work for one my cards (r9 290) does anyone know how to resolve this ?
   Please try the new fan control mode (add command-line parameter -fcm 2), or use -fcm 1 to force the old one and see if it makes difference. If not, please send us a log (at least the first ten minutes or so when the card reaches the target temperature) and we will try to find the problem.

Just tried 4.2a BETA and can confirm -fcm 2 does make a difference, I see the fans respond to temperature will test more.

One odd thing I observed is that this version applies OC differently, it applied voltage to all GPU core states - is this normal ? The thing is that I didn't ask it to do that, I dont have anything regarding voltage in command line as I use OverdriveNTool for OC and now the miner overrides OverdriveNTool's settings. Is there any way to disable this behavior?

Thanks.
