@OP
So what is the demographic for any potential site you are considering ?
Investards hoping to rub the greedy mitts together like Mr Burns ?
Drifting with their Shelby all the way to the bank ? (like Cryptsy co-founder Marshall Long)
Or *REAL* crypto supporters ?

Reality check guys real supporters care next to nothing about BTC trade pair prices etc.
We would simply accumulate coins and worry about what their worth later when the coin has real world adoption.

Real Crypto supporters.

[HELP] Transactions Will Not Broadcast
by
AgeraS
on 05/06/2016, 17:40:40 UTC
I have not used my armory setup for awhile and upgraded it and Core a month or more ago.
Transactions are not broadcasting correctly, how do I fix the transactions so that they will properly broadcast and be excepted by Core (malleability I assume) ?

Setup:
  • Online Computer: OSX 10.11.4
  • Online (Watch-only) Computer: Armory 0.93.3
  • Online Computer: Core 0.11.1 (64 bit)
  • Offline Computer: Windows 8
  • Offline Computer: Armory 0.93.3

Steps Taken:
  • Created an offline transaction on online watch-only computer.
  • Signed unsigned transaction with offline computer.
  • Tried to broadcast signed transaction on online watch-only computer but it failed to broadcast the transaction.
  • Copied raw hex of 'SENT' transaction and pasted raw hex of 'SENT' transaction into https://blockchain.info/pushtx
  • Blockchain.info throws an error: "An outpoint is already spent".
  • Tried to push raw hex transaction on other websites but received similar errors. "Missing Inputs"

Based on the replies and poll, I'm thinking about building a site where I don't have to pay attention to all of the coins.

Something where with one click, you can have your funds automatically mimic the best traders. Like https://www.etoro.com/ but for crypto.

Quick mock-up, for thoughts. Should I make this?

It sounds like most people (think, know, assume) the majority of coins are not worth trading/investing. Most keep focused on a handful of coins, the coins' fundamentals and not technicals.

There used to be a good site where it had a genealogy map of found it -> http://mapofcoins.com/bitcoin

Thanks, that's what I've been looking for.

It would be really a good idea to link this website as a sticky thread so newbies get a better idea in what they're investing. Although I doubt the mods would permit it, as it seems to be a commercial website.

No worries

We had, until 2014 (?) a good thread with a list and simple classification of Altcoins.

That seems not more possible at the moment with >1000 coins. But people would be surprised by the little amount of diversity regarding code bases. Most altcoins (>90%, even 95%) are clones without substantial modifications to Bitcoin's, Litecoin's or Peercoin's code.

What I would appreciate would be a kind of "genealogy site" (or thread) pointing out the origins of every cryptocurrency. (For example: Cygnus -> Clone of Peercoin with few additions -> Clone of Bitcoin with PoS addition and new diff algorithm). So we could classify altcoins in "families" and it would be easier to see for newbies if an altcoin has really innovation or not.

This is s suspicious sketchy thing.

Reality check ICO coins are scams.

I've been buying coins since 2012 and it seems more difficult than ever to keep up with coin fundamentals and technicals.  I'm thinking about building a site but wanted to see if others share this problem. I want to make good trades just as much as the next person, but it seems difficult to wade through all of the information now days. Maybe I just am reminiscing the Gox days and less than a handful of coins to follow.

Configuring new routers, advice needed
by
AgeraS
on 20/04/2014, 23:30:25 UTC
I bought two WRT 1900 ac routers and cannot get them configured to my liking.

ISP -> (WAN) Router 1 (LAN) -> (WAN) Router 2 (LAN) -> Computer 1

Router 1 is on the main floor. Router 2 is in the basement. Both Routers are dual band output (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Various devices (all N or AC) will connect via Wifi.

Ideally I would like:

  • Internet as fast as possible over Wifi. (30Mbps at modem)
  • Main SSIDs the same (hidden) name over 2.4GHz and 5GHz
  • Guest access Wifi (visible) separate from main (hidden)

Is this the most efficient way to connect the routers?
If this were your setup, how would you connect the routers?
Will having Guest access (visible) output 2.4GHz and 5GHz limit speed of Main (hidden)?
Will having both Main and Guest affect Wifi Mbps?
What settings need to be set on the second router, DHCP, Static IP etc...?

Tech Specs of the routers:
Model: Linksys WRT1900AC
Technology: Wireless-N & AC

Look at the badge on the desk. Google Cerulean Tower. Though it could be photochopped or not sent from Karpeles

ep in mind that the guys from the joint statement possibly have evidence as they would see him selling bitcoins on their exchanges, right?

I don't think so because they would have to know the public address from which he was trading the customers coins.

In regards to this --> http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2014/02/25/secondmarket-knew-about-mount-gox-troubles/

The community ought to demand, in my opinion, all of the following companies make a statement clearly stating that they nor any of their employees privately knew that Gox was finished in advance and made trades based on that information.

I am interested to see how up front and transparent these companies are.

The reward continues to half; when it halves too much, the block reward will round to 0.

Cool, so as long as the smallest unit is 10^-8 it rounds out at that point. Thanks.

Exactly 21 Million ?
by
AgeraS
on 22/02/2014, 19:09:42 UTC
As bitcoin approaches 2140, when "the last satoshi is created," how does the protocol handle this operation? Additionally, when people say, "there will never be more than 21 million bitcoins created," does that mean that technically there will not be more than 21 million bitcoins but that there can be slightly more than 21 million and it will never hit 22 million? In other words, is there an asymptote at 21 million, or 22 million, or neither because when the last satoshi is created is the exact same time it technically hits 21 million and the protocol checks and stops coinbase rewards?
