Re: The First Bank In Mexico Is About to Start Accepting Bitcoin
by

Actually that bank is mostly used in small towns where people have no option but open an account with them, that people from small towns probably have never heard of Bitcoin mainly because internet access in some areas in Mexico is almost non-existent or people just don't care about that and don't use it.

Why the country is cracking down on Bitcoin mining and trading
by
Alyssapll
on 24/06/2021, 05:58:47 UTC
The country has always been cautious about cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
The country always takes bitcoin every time. After all, it is the pioneer of cryptocurrency. In fact, when it is finally implemented, it will cover almost all cryptocurrencies.

Re: Should bitcoin really be used as currency?
by

Bitcoin is a decentralized asset. Whether it'll be a better value than dollar or any other asset, the citizens will decide. They could always go to a stable coin if they want to have some crypto pegged to USD instead of bitcoin if they don’t want to deal with Bitcoin volatility but are already happy with USD instead of their own currency.

Re: What is really the value of Bitcoin?
by
Alyssapll
on 23/06/2021, 06:51:09 UTC
Bitcoin derives its value from a number of things. Perhaps the most prominent way is its scarcity and its stock to flow ratio.
Stock to flow ratio is the quantity of an asset that is already out in circulation divided by the incoming stock being added. So, in the case of gold, the new gold mined out of the earth each year gets added to the existing stock. This is the same for Bitcoin as miners get rewarded with new Bitcoin for mining. The Bitcoin they are rewarded gets entered into circulation.
So far, Bitcoin's price has largely followed this exact trend. Many have priced Bitcoin into the future using this stock to flow ratio model.

Re: When federal digital currencies become a reality, how will that affect bitcoin?
by

Unlike now, more people will get used to handling digital coins when govs introduce, encourage CBDCs. More people will understand  BTC and better grasp its advantages over CBDCs. Significantly more people will buy BTC and it will get much more valuable than today. Some people will prefer the regulated, less volatile but possibly inflationary CBDCs with the advantage of insurance provided by banks Nevertheless, millions more people will adopt BTC after widespread use of CBDCs. Overall it will not affect BTC negatively but significantly positively.

Re: How do convince someone to keep crypto in a hard wallet?
by
Alyssapll

Tell her that she wouldn't go to the bank each morning and afternoon just to use her keys to get in and out of her own home, because she trusts the bank more to keep her keys secure than her own pockets.
And then tell her to imagine the banks have ZERO accountability, and at any time they can close shop and run away with the customers house keys, and you can't change the locks to your home because it's literally impossible.
And then ask her why she's doing this with her crypto?
Now that said, I would still say that for computer illiterates, it's much safer to offshore security to third parties, because at least they'll try protect her from herself. But if she knows enough to be into crypto, she should go the extra mile and learn about security.
If all else fails, tell her to look up "argument from incredulity" on google, and hope that she has enough of a conscience to think her decision through.

Re: Tanzania's president is now calling for Bitcoin and crypto adoption

Bitcoin can help poor countries through capital accumulation, which is the main driver of long-term economic growth. Bitcoin will soon become the mainstream currency in China. Although it is very popular now, I believe that it will become more and more popular in the future because it has the greatest potential. But African politics takes a long time to happen. Before anything meaningful happens, technical hurdles need to be overcome, but if you really wish them good luck.

Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻
by

Not all sovereign countries can maintain their currency exchange rates like China and the United States, and not all sovereign countries hope to accept the world economic order dominated by powerful countries such as China and the United States. In contrast, El Salvador uses Bitcoin's cryptocurrency with a clear algorithmic economic model as its legal currency, which is a good choice. Therefore, it can be expected that in the future, more and more countries or regions with similar economic conditions as El Salvador will use Bitcoin as legal currency.

Re: What effect does a growing number of altcoins have on Bitcoin
by

Bitcoin will not be the only monopoly virtual currency. More mature and less vulnerable virtual currencies are recognized by everyone. For a certain virtual currency, the people who recognize its value and the total computing power of participating in the coin mining jointly determine its credibility.

Re: Debunking the "Bitcoin is an environmental disaster" argument.
by

on 10/06/2021, 08:43:29 UTC
The use of Bitcoin, the creation of assets, the processing of transactions, and the assurance of security surrounding Bitcoin are all tied to the mining process that deliberately consumes energy. Energy is used as a "proof of work", and its sum ensures that Bitcoin's transaction ledger cannot be changed. This is critical to Bitcoin's monetary policy certainty and other key attributes. The Bitcoin network has hundreds of billions of dollars in market value and billions of dollars in settlement funds every day. Obviously, there is a huge demand for the services provided by Bitcoin, and Bitcoin mining needs to consume energy to support these services. This energy consumption is not wasted; the market clearly requires it.

On the one hand, he lacks knowledge of Bitcoin, and he has no basic self-judgment on investment. Once he sees someone making money from a certain token, he will rush into the market, and he will eventually fail miserably. On the other hand, the investment is indeed bitcoin, but basically bitcoin contracts are played. High leverage increases the weight of profitability, allowing many people who are eager for quick success and quick profit to enter the market in a hurry, but ignore it and increase it at the same time. You lose weight, and there is also the possibility of liquidation. People don't make money beyond their own knowledge. If you want to invest in Bitcoin, you still need to have certain market knowledge and self-value judgment.

Re: Is Bitcoin antifragile?
by
Alyssapll
on 02/06/2021, 01:04:27 UTC
People think it is inherently fragile and dangerous. Many people think that Bitcoin may disappear as quickly as it appeared. At the beginning of the journey, it seemed to live between an aspiring long-range shot and an unidentified silver bullet whose distance completely collapsed. Bitcoin is novel and is generally considered untested and unproven. On the contrary, it flourishes without any central coordination, and it is the lack of central coordination that provides Bitcoin with a lifeline; decentralization not only allows Bitcoin to work, but it is also the reason why it gains power under pressure rather than shakes.

Bitcoin will continue to exist. Although the government has been cracking down on Bitcoin recently, the crypto market has not been greatly affected, and some long-term currency holders will not be afraid of it. Bitcoin is now recognized by more and more people, and more people will invest in Bitcoin.

Re: I think many people are free to buy Bitcoin wealth, but I feel powerless

The vast majority of people who have made their wealth free by buying Bitcoin may not stay till the end and sell it after earning a small portion of the profit.
How much wealth you can have depends on your cognition. When your cognition is not enough to carry wealth, the money will disappear.

I tried to minimize loss during this last weeks drop. Is there a cheaper way?
by
Alyssapll
on 25/05/2021, 02:11:33 UTC
Essentially I didn’t panic at first and left all my coin alone after the first couple days, but as things continued down the downward spiral, I decided to try to minimize my losses. I also, wanted to try to avoid paying taxes on my gains by withdrawing to my bank.
I thought converting all my varying coin to USD Coin would be the same as just putting my crypto in a holding pattern during the plunge, which it did.
But come to find I paid about $90 in transfer fees to Coinbase. I’m not too upset about it because I would have lost thousands more if I hadn’t moved my coin to USD Coin, but is there a less expensive way to do what I did?

I'm not surprised that the alts are tanking, but BTC sat out of this most recent crazy growth phase. It shouldn't be dropping as much as them, yet here we are.
