10% might have been possible couple of years ago, but not anymore. There are quite a lot of traders and users currently and growth has been slowing last months, best you can expect is maybe 2-3%

anything that alters your state of mind, body and feelings which is chemical induced in your body, personally, I consider bad. You can get high of doing natural things, like making love, running or do some other activities that are by far more healthy for both your body and mind.

Re: $100 : Where to invest with $100 ?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 29/11/2017, 13:10:16 UTC
since hundred bucks is not that much, you can really put it anywhere.. as losing that amount of money won't be anything significant or won't affect you in any way (in a big way at least). What you can do is try trading some smaller cap coins, but if I were you - I'd go for an ICO, or initial coin offering. What this is basically, is a project that just started and is looking to raise funds, that's quite a typical think that happens in traditional business and raising money for them is called an IPO or initial public offering. Since your amount is relatively small, the best chances for you to multiply it significantly is to join one of those ICO's and go all in with it. If you're going to invest some more cash into this then you can buy some top coins. Forget about trading, you'll waste your money and time.

Re: I have 12 Bitcoin. What should I do???
by

I would recommend you in case that you only have BTC to make sure to buy some other coins as well. What I would do is keep about half of the Bitcoins and invest the other half in other major cryptocurrencies, maybe something like Ethereum or some other top ten crypto. XRP is quite a good example as well, the coin has been doing great and the future potential is quite big. What I'm trying to say is that you should diversify, which means to reduce your risk of losing more money than you actually have to. If you are diversified (invested in various coins) then you reduce the chances of going bust, which is a real danger when you consider just how much volatile the cryptocurrency market really is.

Re: 10k Bitcoin upcoming!? What are your plans for the Alts?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 29/11/2017, 09:58:01 UTC
I wouldn't be surprised if we see fifteen thousand per Bitcoin by the end of 2017, it's already clear that the price will increase more and we're already sitting on about 10.5k and it's not even December. Everyone was forecasting that BTC would reach 10k before 2018 but this has already happened, and the most important events that did drive the price up did not even yet materialized, just wait until CME officially includes BTC to be traded as a future and you'll see just how much hype the coin can get. It's gonna be kinda nuts, within the next weeks we'll see a Bloomberg announcement and everyone will go bananas, everyone will want a piece of BTC because it is clear by now that it has real utility and that it does compare very well to other financial products.

Re: eth going strong

ETH's been crushing the market since the start of 2017. It all started when the Ethereum alliance was announced, which was the first major publicity stunt that attracted most people (i'm not saying it was a complete stunt, but it definitely helped to make the network seem legit), and that's good of course because that's what the blockchain needs overall to develop, more people who will use the applications and the coins developed. This is just the start for ETH though, just wait until all the new cool features are implemented with time and you'll be surprised just how strong ETH will be. It's just a matter of time and eventually it will become true, the coin that will offer the highest value is the one that will be number one, and that's ETH.

Re: Bitcoin cash , Worth to invest in ?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 28/11/2017, 15:30:41 UTC
there is no way that Bitcoin Cash will go anywhere.. honestly I don't see what people are seeing in these forked Bitcoin versions, the only way any of them has any substantial chances of survival is if Bitcoin will fail. What are the chances for Bitcoin to fail? They don't offer anything different than Bitcoin so there is no other reason to buy Bitcoin Cash unless you want to replace Bitcoin. They are only a good investment if you want to hedge yourself for a potential Bitcoin fail, which most likely will not happen. Bitcoin has survived much worse and that's the reason it is still number one. Do yourself a favor and invest in something that offers more perspectives and more value than simply some forked and copied version of original chains.

many are saying it's about luck and landing to the perfect or best project that is about to launch, but that's not true, as any investment you would put your money into or as any ICO that you would participate contributing real funds, the best are those projects to be picked that will make you a lot of returns. Everyone is just looking for any garbage project just to join and gain some coins and sell them off exchanges right away, why not look for a real good project and try to get involved with bounties to have an early stake in the project. If we start looking for value we are more likely to eventually find it and that's the same principle that is applied in bounties, search for good projects and you'll be rewarded handsomely.

Re: What Should I do as a newbie?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 28/11/2017, 09:06:08 UTC
to start with it would be a good idea to understand first what the blockchain is and how it works, try to understand how the technology works because that way you will be able to follow developments of bitcoin. For example you might have heard about "forks" or Bitcoin version, the only way to understand these is if you understand how the technology works. Once you understand the blockchain, the second step is to understand Bitcoin (Bitcoin is the first application of the blockchain) once you've understood blockchain and bitcoin you'll want to find a way to buy it. The way to buy bitcoin is send fiat currency (indonesian rupiah) to an exchange and they will send you bitcoin in return. The problem in your case is that there might not be any regional exchanges (who support the indonesian market), in which case you should search for an international exchange who supports Indonesia (different exchanges support different countries, try to find an exchange that supports Indonesia) when you've found it, you will be able once you registred and provided some documentation, to send Rupiah via a bank transfer or credit card and receive BTC is return. Hope that helped somehow, welcome to the crypto family.

Re: How to start investing with 1$?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 24/11/2017, 15:56:31 UTC
one dollar is way too low to start investing. You have to always think that in order to make the energy and effort you put into investing worthwhile, that the return should be worth that energy and effort. If you want to invest one and multiply it, even if you manage to let's say make it hundred bucks, it's still not enough money to justify the effort that you've put into making that one dollar to a hundred. Does that make sense? You always have to find a good return to value ration, and if that is not reached the you should not invest in the first place. The risk to reward ratio here is way too low, there is no reward at all, and no risk at all which means that the investment of one dollar is not even worth considering.

Re: Waves hold for longterm Good or Not?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 24/11/2017, 15:15:23 UTC
Even though I think that Waves can't really compete with other blockchains, as it lacks a lot in customization, I can see a target market for it for anyone who simply wants to create a coin without much of a hassle. If anything that's what Waves is good for, without coding skills or any special knowledge you can pretty much create your own coin and trade it directly to anyone. Is it good in the long term? I think not. Because there will come other platforms who will offer even simpler ways to create tokens and communities, and waves will be left back from the game. As simple as it is to create a custom token, it's still kinda old-fashioned (in my opinion) the entire way the designed the user interface, I was thinking something more like a Facebook platform with profiles etc. would work better.

Re: Dogecoin will FAIL
by

i don't really get the point in investing in that coin either. I mean the only good thing is that it reminds you of how things started, back in the days people were just experimenting and didn't really look to make money from cryptocoins, back then only BTC was worth something and the rest were considered all experiments and coins to exchange with your friends or group. Doge started very similarly it was actually developed by some IT people simply for the fun of it, and that's a point that a lot of people miss today in crypto land, everyone is just looking to make money and no one really cares about the technology underneath it, how it works and how it can benefit the whole world. If Doge will fail I won't be surprised, the coin started for fun and will probably die the same way.

Re: Why is the price of bitcoin so high
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 23/11/2017, 15:48:18 UTC
there is a lot of demand currently and that drives up the price. When demand is higher than the supply of something the price goes up, in BTC's case the price is going up because many new participants in the market want to buy BTC, they are hearing the news about BTC being integrated as a future in the CME group, and they are sure that this will drive institutional investors to invest in BTC, so everyone is buying now BTC in anticipation that the price will continue to go up. It has already performed very good within this year, going from around 800 to over 8k, which is kinda insane if you think of it. Everyone is making money at the moment which makes you kinda wonder whether we are in a bubble or whether this entire thing is sustainable.

Re: Poll: Top ICO Out of These

Uchain looks really descent, I like the team and what they have introduced to the market. They are based in spain and are basically trying to develop a good merchant and customer relationship, if they manage to do so their transactions would be counted more than the entire visa network. It might happen because they offer unique things that other providers currently who are being used by most consumers are not really doing things such as secure transfers, instant conversion to preferred currency etc. These things are all unique, basically with Utrust you delete many of the intermediaries and in that way you are able to significantly reduce costs associated with such transactions, they've had an presale which was successful and many more stages which will be shown within the coming time.

Re: Am I the only one this unlucky during my entry into investments and crypto?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 21/11/2017, 13:34:04 UTC
you're trying to trade and that is usual when you do so. One thing that you have to understand is that you can't predict the market, even if you follow technical indicators you will never be able to predict for sure whether the price will go up or down, it's not possible, because many external factors which can't be influenced by technical indicators are actually moving the prices (regulatory changes etc.) trading has these kind of troubles, that you sell/buy and end up making a loss, so you keep on thinking about what happened and try to justify certain actions, in other words you are getting stressed. That's the life of a trader. If you want to make some profit become a hodler. Which means that you will not sell, only keep on buying and start building stacks, and promise to yourself that you won't sell for the next e.g. five  years.

Re: What is the best Social Media for promoting an ICO ?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 21/11/2017, 10:35:49 UTC
1. Twitter
2. Reddit
3. This forum
4. Telegram
5. Slack (which i heard is full of scammers)

All of the above I would say

The point of promoting an ICO is to reach as many people as possible, the more social media you will use the more users will potentially see your message, as not all of them user the same platforms. Telegram is usually dificult to advertise as you get banned, but the rest is quite convenient and you can reach quite a big target audience. I like especially the forums because you can attach pictures and link to websites etc., which you can do on other platforms as well, but in forums especially Bitcointalk.org it's really simple to present the project and idea simply and clearly, there are many customization options and that makes the project looks all that more attractive.

Re: When will altcoins boom again?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 20/11/2017, 16:04:12 UTC
before 2018 it might be unlikely. BTC has all the attention right now and will have it for the following coming months. There are some interesting things planned for BTC in December, such as the CME group integrating BTC futures which might attract some serious attention from institutional investors. Altcoins will definitely suffer due to that, but it's not expected that it's all too bad. Once the hype around BTC and the institutional integration has passed the Altcoins will rise again, it's just a matter of time. Be sure to be invested in either way, so that you might not lose some potential gain from this (it might be that the futures integration from CME will drive BTC's value down, because investors will now have the option to short BTC futures, or bet against it in other words).

Re: Will Ethereum grow like bitcoin ?
by
ArrogantPeacock
on 20/11/2017, 15:10:01 UTC
It already does. Only this year ETH had a return of over two thousand percent by which any count is one of the best pefroming cryptocurencies this year. Considering that it's the second most capitalized coin out there, it's fair to assume that trust in ETH is very high (money talks) and that's a good indicator for future growth as well. Fact is that more and more developers are using the ERC20 standard which has been developed by Ethereum and more and more ICO's are using Ethereum as the underlying network on which they operate. All these are important growth indicators. ETH has already made descent returns when compared to BTC (BTC will probably always hold the top spot though) and it's definitely an important asset to have to any portfolio.
