Re: which altcoins are good at the moment to buy?

I'm looking for a bit of advice on the potential of EOS as an investment, short or long term. I have seen it making quite a bit of movement in recent weeks. Does this software application have any sort of potential to challenge others like ETH as the king of the Altcoins taking on the big fish that is Bitcoin?

I am also intrigued by projects with potential to cause a lot of change such as Bitcoin Origin, which looks like it is attempting to change the status quo of Crypto with things like merging the top 5 coins in their multi-fork. Looks like quite an audacious idea

Re: Can Blockchain Survive Without Bitcoin

Bitcoin and Blockchain tech are two separate entities in terms of the Crypto world. Bitcoin introduced the world to the idea of Blockchain tech but Blockchain tech has metaphorically gone from being the student to being the master. Blockchain has more of a long term implementation in solving real world problems and recording data through history in an encrypted format that can not be altered. The level of innovation in Blockchain tech has all sorts of theoretical implementations in the future (look at the potential of coins such as ETH and their Blockchain tech etc) to solve real world problems.

I could go on and on about the possibilities of Blockchain tech and its incredible potential that everyone can see within the tech world. Blockchain tech will be able to run long past the eventual expiration of Bitcoin as a sustainable currency in the future.

Re: Why do people mine Crypto?

Is taking up the possibility of setting up a mining farm or personal mining even worth it at this point with the amount of money it takes to set up the farm and such ventures such as that because of the amount of energy consumption used within mining around the globe currently at concerning levels (rated at 2.55 gigawatts (GW) of electricity per year; which has increased within the Bitcoin network consumption 413.37 percent per year) and governing institutions viewing the levels of energy consumption as detrimental to their country as a whole. So setting up a farm with all of the upcoming regulations might not be a viable option with all of the difficulty of maintaining it and coins switching to the Proof Of Stake models out in the world of Crypto

In theory transaction fees will be what solely rewards the miners. In reality though, unless computers become smarter, faster and smaller this wont be profitable most likely. But I'm sure by then that another currency with a more Eco-friendly consensus, and more profitable rewards will surface. We should start looking to more sustainable Cryptos. There are many coins that are potentially "better" than bitcoin.

There is already a consensus (pun intended) around Crypto that BTC has am expiration date but has opened the door to the mainstream world for other Cryptos. When that point comes then you are right in saying that miners will be paid in transaction fees but that point is basically a point not even giving attention to because by that time we will all have moved away from a coin like BTC because the world will have adopted a coin that has moved to more sustainable form of Proof of Stake such as ETH, which seems to be the closer contender in the pool of Crypto. We are all aware of the amounts of energy consumption within Proof Of Work so there are greener projects such as Bitcoin Origin being discussed which would use Proof Of Ambassador which looks to be much more sustainable and scalable for real world application. Savvy investors out there seem to be leaning towards greener projects as potential investments so watch for that coming wave

Hi Guys

Need some form of advice on how to get by the problem of transacting with someone who has a different form of Altcoin that I have? ie I want to send my friend BTC while he would like to send me the equivalent in ETH or whatever other complicated variation of that involving multiple coins?
Having to find someone who can trade in BTC then someone to trade in ETH seems tedious

Trying to look out for scam coins is getting harder and harder as the scams get smarter with their trick. Some of the things to look out for are a solid whitepaper that explains things clearly, a dedicated team that is invested into the coin, a coin that could possibly solve a lot of real world issues without promising you the world in the palm of your hand etc.

There are some great coins about to hit the market that you should keep an eye out for. I've been watching a project that has recently gone live for the world to see, called Bitcoin Origin that has some ambitious but achievable objectives coming into the market

Have a read through this:

After the removal of the "Difficulty Bomb" from the Ethereum Classic protocol as it was the original reasoning of forcing the switch to a PoS algorithm in Ethereum, is anyone thinking of taking up Ethereum Classic mining as a long term option for profit or are there more issues of sustainability to come in the future?

Reports suggest that on average ICO investors make about 82% profit from their investmentf in the ICO market. Is this figure enough of a influence to make you join in and give your money into what you see as a worthwhile ICO?

I saw in Crypto news that The United Nations is looking to implement IOTA Ledger tech to improve their overall efficiency as an organization. Is that not a good sign for the mainstream adaptation of IOTA's tech and the long term investment potential of it?

Hey

I'm very intrigued by cellphone companies getting into the Crypto world especially if they're starting to use Blockchain tech and luckily I am currently using a Huawei smartphone Smiley.

However, doesn't this new movement lower the levels of security in the encryption or just the safety of your information in any way? I'd like to know since companies like HTC are planning to introduce smartphones that are powered by Blockchain tech.

Re: Any advice for a newbie?
by

Hello all

A small titbit from a fellow not so new newbie is to do a lot of researching on information on things such as wallets and the security levels that they come with. Things such as what level or form of authentication the wallets you're using come with and whether you have access to your private key or if the service keeps control of that for you. There are also a variety of wallets that you can use (hot wallets, cold wallets, hardware wallets etc). I have also started to a nano ledger and so far from what I've been hearing, that is one of the best decisions that I have made in Crypto.

Aside from that there are a lot of coins that you can get invested in at an early age of getting in Crypto and you clearly have started well enough. Keep an eye out for Altcoins that are still valued at less than a $1. Also stay aware of when everyone else is selling or buying based off it looking like the current trend or panicking.

Those are a few of the things I have learnt so far.
Good luck  Grin

Re: It could take 2 years for the market to recover

Hi

With majority of coins falling to a certain degree lately, is all of the chatter about incoming regulations causing insecurity within holders of coins causing them to sell off their coins at a rapid pace? I don't know how long the implementation of these regulations will take or if the recovery will take 2 years but the silver lining to the regulation shaped dark cloud is that this might just be the right time to get in on some coins if you believe in their future rise in the near future once fears have faded or to just hodl for now on what you already own  Smiley.

With the recent released reports of Australians having lost over $2 million in investments from Crypto scams during 2017, isn't  that a signal that there should be even a small amount of policing a few criminal aspects of Crypto or at least Crypto criminal education about scams etc?

Re: Who is buying WAVES?
by
Ashliel
on 21/05/2018, 10:10:19 UTC
I had some Waves in my portfolio, but unfortunately it's not doing so well as I expected.

For today I've got about 30% on top of my investments, but it seems like more and more ICO's are going to use different blockchains than Ethereum. I've seen already about 10 projects which are using NEM mosaic, Waves or even NEO blockchain.

Waves' investments will grow up, I believe, but it will be 1 or 2 years later, I think.

So hold waves and Keep Calm Cool

With the price of Waves still on the rise for now and the talk of upcoming projects using NEM and NEO, is it smarter to make a long term movement by hedging your investment across the board with these three to see which ones are adopted and not miss out on whichever one is adopted heavily within the near future?

Hi guys

I have been keeping an eye on Waves from when it was about at the $2 mark not too long ago and I've been tentatively thinking about investing since it looks like there's been a load of chatter about them introducing smart contracts into their platform which would surely drive the price up in time.

I just need a bit of advice on whether to get in now that its around the $5 mark or be patient for the dip to get in and hold it?
