Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase?

I recently sold around 50% of my stack during the last pump to ~$480. bought back in at the low $300s and waiting.  Smiley

This is probably the best thing to do and is an easy way or making a bit of money on yur coins in the short term. I don't like leaving my coins on exchanges for long periods of time though but you need to if you want to try get in some lucky buy orders and then wait to sell them at a nice profit.

Do you guys BIP38 your paper wallets?
I do. BIP38 is a important feature in paper wallets. It protects against theft of your Bitcoin and is relatively hard to crack if you use a strong one. However, you do have to remember the password. The best practice is to write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

It's not safe to write down your passphrase. Then it's like you don't even have it. I rather make and remember my passphrases as a sentence, and I add a few symbol characters. So with a password of 30+ chars it gets uncrackable in my lifetime. Which is OK Cheesy

How is it not safe? If you don't write it down you run a serious risk of forgetting it. If you write it down on a random page in a book on your shelf someone is hardly going to find it. I would even go as far as to copy private keys as well just incase something fucks up.

Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ?

I would never spend my precious money digital or real for drugs. For me drugs are a nonsense... created to be addicting and to make yourself slave of a substance.
Never buy and never use drugs, kids!

Drugs are not created to be addicting. Do you not agree with alcohol or caffeine either? What about medical drugs like painkillers or anti-depressants? Drugs can be fun and just a way to relax or just experience altered states and most importantly if people want to buy them they should be able to.

Care to explain what a neckbeard is exactly? Do you have a beard on your neck? xD

Well I think it usually just refers to beared geeks who live on the net, but not sure what rothbeards are. Bitcoin is probably mostly used  by neckbeards than asians to be honest though. Most people I meet involved in bitcoin are geeky white people and not asians.

Bitcoin goes down again: the price of the digital currency fluctuates around $230
This weekend saw another decline in the price of the digital currency. It fell below $230 on Sunday. On Monday it gained two dollars to $230.

Lol, how is this news. It falls a bit again and then gains two dollars! Stop the presses  Grin. Bitcoin is constantly fluctuating. You know it's slow news day when we've got these sorts of articles  Cheesy.

Re: So Whats the Difference when you use BTC?
by
Bad Uncle
on 26/08/2015, 20:42:28 UTC
One big thing I can think of is that every time you use a credit/debit card, a transaction fee goes to a big bank/payment processor.  With btc, it goes to a miner.

Other than that, how does it benefit you to use btc?

You become leet and part of the crypto elite when you spend bitcoin. It's a much better feeling spending bitcoin than it is using shitty paypal or debit card. We can be part of the revolution!  Cheesy

For every 1 person who uses bitcoin to buy or sell arms there's probably thousands of others who just use fiat. Do BA Systems or Lockheed Martin accept bitcoin yet or is it still just cash?  Grin

Good and I hope it continues to rise. I really think bitcoin could become a multi-national worldwide currency. It's expensive to exchnage money abroad and even more so to withdraw from ATMs so bitcoin could really thrive here.

Re: How could you find Investors/Funders for gambling website?
by
Bad Uncle
on 03/08/2015, 10:59:07 UTC

Other than being respected in the community and being known for a trustworthy person and having a good idea, what other ways to find funders and investors?

I would like to start a gambling website for mainly PvP so it will need fairly little starting capital since people will be playing against each other rather then the house so there is no house edge , we will only take the rake from each bet  people play.

This might require a loyal good quality freelance developer (to develop first then to maintain it safe forever) in the pay loop and designer to make it look good , marketing will be done by me and all of this might cost some coins and I do not have it , my budget right now is about 100$ or slightly more , I might need a starting capital of 1000$ first and after that I might go with the earnings or maybe will need bigger funds to market even more the get more attraction.

There isn't really any safe way to take investments like this without having built up some trust first. Most just wont trust you at all enough to invest in your site as many people just try scam this way. Maybe you could look for an already trusted business partner to act as some sort of escrow on it or gurantee it but even that will be risky for that person and most wont want to stake their rep on the line.

I don't think BiPolarBob is a scammer. He even tells us not to trust him in multiple posts. What kind of scammer tells you to watch out for him? Then again, anything is possible, but I think that BiPolarBob is a nice guy.

Double bluff? I don't think he's a scammer either but it's not uncommon for scammers to try give people a false sense of security or make out like they're doing a good thing or are a good person when their motives are the opposite. Seen a few scammers on here make out like they're scam busters themselves which they do to try get feedback or appear trustowrthy.

Re: Your definition of being Bitcoin Rich or wealthy?
by
Bad Uncle
on 20/07/2015, 11:17:36 UTC
I don't think there is any strict definition of what is wealthy or not but one thing I know is monetary 'wealth' isn't everything. You an also always lose the money you have quicker than it took you to earn in. Personally wealthy would being financially comfortable without any struggle but even that can soon go if you lose your job or make a bad investment choice or something.

To be honest this is nothing out of the ordinary for financial institutions. Paypal does something similar. I got a letter recently stating because I'd withdrawn over 1k euroes over x amount of months I had to send them ID or some other bullshit.

Post a photo of yourself so we can help you change your look.

Don't do this. You'll likely just be ridiculed which will make your confidence worse. Just work to improve that first and foremost and join a dating site and be nice to the women you talk to.

A message posted in their profile is useless as there's no logs of them and anyone can change it on a whim. They need to be on an unedited post on the forum from a long time ago so people can prove they account belongs to them without a doubt.

Re: [2015-06-03] IBT: Another MtGox style disaster 'waiting to happen'

Of course there will be another incident. If you trust third parties with your coins then something can easily go wrong. You might be reasonably able to trust a business but do you trust every single employee they have?
