Start at 0.1 and increase by 0.01

It will make a someone a great PR calling card for localbitcoins or a whole new  BTC sales business.

Whoever is on it when the New Year is 00:00:00 2014 (server time) wins!

If this is even true at all, the original email said that it requires a "seizure warrant" to take funds, not the way betanews worded it. If not totally bogus, it's being used to trash BTC by someone. And why was the email only posted at HackerNews of all places?

I'm talking about all hijacked posts, if it doesn't pertain to the OP's original intent/question/comment why can't anyone just move along and let it lie? Who gives a crap about everyone's precious opinions if it doesn't serve the OP's intent?

Thanks for the quick response, btw.

What gives? If someone wants to post something 'retarded' he has every right to do so! If someone posts an offtopic 'you're retarded' reply, he should have his post removed, period.

Is this place short of moderators, or just don't understand the reason the internent has self-created these protocols over the past 20 years? (HINT: They work, anything else doesn't)

PS I just picked this topic to bitch about first, cuz it seems to be the worst waste of all our time. I'll space myself, but I haven't seen one generally accepted method of time-tested internet forum moderation 'protocols' or whatever is in place here.

Back in the day we spoke of signal to noise ratio, and everyone made an effort to strive for the highest ideal. I just read a large thread and maybe 2 posts were on-topic and several were blatant attempts to hijack the guys idea for themselves!

Times they are a changin', maybe shit-cannin exchanges and alt-coins will spread to folks demanding a place for intelligent insightful exhange of ideas without fear of ridicule or spending hours to learn "I can typing"!

Who knows.

Thanks for listening,

Re: TRC on BTC-E! Collecting supporters!

Sign me up!

I personally think btc-e should add every coin that's traded at any of the other legit exchanges as a matter of general policy. That way we never have a 'situation' again. It would (and should, imo) just be expected. Then another policy should dictate when to remove them, if/when they "die". Devised by btc-e management, of course. And then CLEARLY POSTED and followed. Then, everyone will have all the information they need to make their risk/reward decisions based on their own investment style.

And (though I loved the 150% return I just made in the past several hours) the 'LTC crew' who flame, sabotage, and anything short of kill (only because they can't reach us) will no longer run the joint as THEY see fit! Maybe btc-e could then do whatever's best for btc-e, and in the process, if the past is any indicator, it should convert to what's best for the majority of the investors.

No Drama, No bad-blood, No felony activism. No inconvenienced customers. It'll never fly.  Tongue

Re: Building and Hosting a BTC Site Anonymously
by
Bettor
on 27/02/2013, 10:06:08 UTC
My policy on anonymity goes something like this:

"I am only a webhost, It's not my job to prove who a person says he is. I do warn my customers, according to ICANN rules if they use false information to purchase a domain name ICANN has the right to take it away from them. Although I haven't heard of them doing so for several years now. They no longer are even sending the emails once a year like they used to to verify accuracy of whois data"

And

"Recently, it has come to our attention that state-sponsored cyber-criminals from China and other authoritarian regimes have been caught red-handed in our newspapers, corporations and government servers in the US, and probably throughout the world. Therefore, I cannot in good conscience jeopardize my global customers, who may be being hunted down like a dog by a state and their very life may depend on the political views that they may or may not express on my server. Therefore, I feel obligated to protect my customers by setting this server to send all logfiles to /dev/null automatically, several times daily, unless they express in writing that they specifically want to keep them".

Ohhh, So that's why the real Wise Guys in the trollbox always said stuff like "Never leave your coins anwhere, even here at btc-e" I get it now! :p

But coinotron will make us whole though, right? I never setup Auto-withdraw (I needed more wallets like a hole in the head, so just used coinotron for a wallet. (Only mining the 'small stuff' when the 'good coins' diff was whack, but still accumulated around 20,000 coins!

But I'd rather just have coinoton back! I loved it! Simply changing the coin on a single worker for each GPU, and not conf. dozens of workers for every variation is sweet. Was this exclusively coinotron? I'm not a pool-hopper, but seen quite a few, and never seen that idea anywhere!

The CC community needs more good places like coinotron, not less! In any community, no one cares about the bad places, usually least of all the owners, so the crap lives forever. Then one day ya look around and crap's all ya got.

so Good Luck to you, coinotron...

CrazyRabbit  No, there were 3 listed under the webchat for quite awhile now. CEO was first noticed when the ruc client, which has chat built in, showed a list of all users but who knows how long "he" was there before that. Also, support told us he was two of the users. I forget who was the other. Also, I'm lost since you were just "the resident scammer" last month :p According to some of these same accusers. What gives?

How does the quote go? "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villan?"

Once you're around long enough on the forum you'll always find yourself on one side or another. I think when you were around I think they were calling me a scammer because I am into TRC. I think perhaps some people will realise that me pushing TRC is nothing like NVC.

Anyway, we all go back and forth. I don't think anyone honestly (or at least provably) can call me a scammer.

Well I think I let you know how ridiculous I thought it was.

Laughingbear  Look at that site closely, search for other btc sites. You'll see it is an anti-bitcoin site. [Unknown Company] means they don't know the parent.

Something isn't adding up to me, anyone would do good to check the angles. Some say BTC user, others LTC user. Someone wanting to build a new exchange is my favorite.

I can see the newer guys being suspicious, so you should research yourselves. Don't trust anyone to tell the truth here. Check for the HEAPS of praise mounded on btce after "the hack", it was said they handled their hack attack better than any other in btc history at the time.

Over the past few months, every coin btce mentioned adding was met with total craziness from users. Maybe they disregarded us and concentrated on the Russians who wanted a new coin, we didn't want no stinking coin remember? Maybe that's why "our chat" heard of NVC late.

EDIT: readability EDITED again, thanks Rabbit for posting while I was :p

I never mined any of the crap coin or talked to anyone more than a couple sentences translated through Google. I never spoke of or bought the crap coin. And I sure never tried to tell them how to run their business, onsite or anywhere else. I have never received even a reduced fee or anything else from them either.

EDIT: Added I have no money interest in NVC or Btc-e whatsoever.
EDIT: WHAT? No timestamp on edits here? I wonder why it's a trollhole?

Agreed. I'm starting to wonder if they're even being DDOS'd right now, considering support and dev seemed to have more than enough time to go disable trades and remove orders during the first stretch of downtime. You can't do that if the site is unreachable.

Every server I ever had in the past 15 years had a direct terminal.

Quote
Quick request to whoever's DDOSing these guys: Give us 5 minute windows every half hour so we have a chance to get our coins out of the sites and to local wallets. That wouldn't interfere with your attempts to prevent "business as usual", but it would still let "just the simple user" get their money out.

Why do you want 1/2 as much time as they gave us the first time. :faceplant:

Do us all a favor and be suspicious quietly, hotshot.

In true bitcointalk fashion, everyone will have their opinions expressed now dammit!

With no mind to security and no moderation... Now watch... the little guys will lose again!

What bitcoin has always lacked is a community. What this place is doing to bitcoin is what eBay did to online sales. Not only was the setback for a certain time period, but forever and ever.

TO THE ACTIVIST: Let the people move their money! Let up a bit once in awhile at least, Thank You
