Skype account name ( bit.coin ) worth anything?
by
BitStick
on 21/11/2013, 23:26:22 UTC
I registered the skype name "bit.coin" ages ago when there was little interest in bitcoins.

I think skype now has around 600,000,000 users worldwide.
(could be wrong but they have hosted 70,000,000 calls at the same time so their userbase is huge)

Skype search only lists a tiny fraction of the full search, my account is #3 in the search for bitcoins.

There are only 4 good bitcoin names , bitcoin , bitcoins , bit.coin , bit.coins ,

So is it worth anything  Grin

Would look professional as contact info on your website.

Spare me the blah blah blah about skype accounts being free, make me an offer if your interested Smiley

Re: I can write custom software for you, utility applications, data mining, website

@mrvision

I was thinking of doing a software application for gamboling but I found it very difficult to prove I wasn't cheating if it was in real time. This is what I came up with.

IroV3AJ*T63*PP7RrdvfW2qBKhVDg5H6OOE3OvLlftbpqcueQulJpRg8XbJQSxtn+cabd37abfc1a5186465b5eb6f253f7fc

Ywf8G7tC2UV93iBNifYfyVR4TFAlX9oqqS35NVJPpNdqKFd*H46*NRU13dEtQHTZ+64b63ad3ed6b393cd7b6507c2b05d90a

2VSQqsocWnydAH5o4k8KMgrEMivaj*T53*KblqBk6PLYZ2LqyLrUID8jsVV6OShJ+b28d6ef974ad4cfc48423de17c760d83

egNt1jxMP0siz2HKZ*T21*SfcxC5NLeApK2cRUke9Zq86mOMbvz6vNb6gvnRf4oY+7ff58edd024efd465940a30eae2fc9f3

KBEkPUg9EPEQdnx*T33*PEgFokn5YgKFzNsOrp8y7TqMwLPIsTPLlnct7HxLt6az+d585d554fe1654871162343638d1aa0b

Each key is in two parts separated by the "+"  , to the left is the results of a simple dice game where you toss a coin and roll two dice (the rest is just random to prevent hacking) and to the right is the md5 checksum of the of the coin toss and dice roll.

What I was thinking of doing was listing the md5 checksums in advance and then when all bets were placed release the actual coin toss and dice roll (or whatever) proving that the game couldn't be rigged.

We're just about to release our gambling website...  maybe you can help us with a little testing, and proof reading and then we can give you some shares... what do you think?

If you want to know how to 'detect' transactions i would recomend you using blockchaininfo's api + blockexplorer + bitcoinmonitor.net (just in case one of them fails)... better than installing the bitcoin daemon.

Bitcoinerr works with the bitcoin daemon, but as the blockchain is getting bigger, the vps is getting more and more expensive. That's why i'm researching for alternative methods.

I could easily write software to run on your computer to tunnel the blockchain website for information but I couldn't make a script to do the same in a web page.

I only write applications for the computer not web scripts, sorry.

Re: Just lost 190 bitcoins through Mt. Gox

Wish MtGox offered a way to lock withdrawals to a single address. This would solve so much.

Now that's a neat idea, double the security.
If you could do that with any client it would be awesome, only withdrawing coins to a spending account as you need them.

Free bit coin calculator
by
BitStick
on 08/02/2013, 05:57:19 UTC
I wrote this so people can see how much (or little) you get paid for doing jobs

*note* its written using the free version of microsoft visual studio so you probably need .Net Framework installed. Its part of windows standard update, if its not installed just start windows update and look in optional installs.

Its just a very very simple program, based on $20 a bitcoin it converts your pay into a $ value and tells you how many times you need to do that job to earn $1 worth of bitcoin

eg 0.000096  =  $0.00192  and repeat job 520 times for $1

Download here
http://bitcoin.orgfree.com/BitcoinCalculator.rar

http://bitcoin.orgfree.com/BitCoinCalculator.PNG

Not sure if this free web host allows image hotlinking
If you can't see the image click here http://bitcoin.orgfree.com/BitCoinCalculator.PNG

If you have visual studio and you want to compile it yourself it only takes a minute to do.

Start a new windows form
add one button
two textboxes
one listbox

set the text in listbox1 to "20"
or add a line in form startup "listbox1.text="20"

add this code to the button
Code:
        ListBox1.Items.Clear()

Dim BitCoinValue As Double = TextBox1.Text
Dim JobPay As Double = TextBox2.Text
Dim JobValue As Double = BitCoinValue / (1 / JobPay)
        ListBox1.Items.Add("$" + CDec(JobValue).ToString)
Dim JobsPerHour As Double = 1 / JobValue
        JobsPerHour = Int(JobsPerHour)
        ListBox1.Items.Add("")
        ListBox1.Items.Add("Do this job " + JobsPerHour.ToString + " times to earn $1")

Re: free bitcoin sites, why so low?
by

on 05/02/2013, 23:07:34 UTC
Because giving away money for free is... mmh... dunno, why someone should?

I can only assume you have no idea of the value of traffic to a website but make no mistake the noobs here are being milked. I sold traffic and signups for several years in some of the most cut throat scam ridden circles on the internet but the sheer greed of the bit coin traders puts them to shame.

The word you're looking for is exploitation  Grin

Seriously sites giving away 0.00000001 bitcoins per visit is cheaper traffic than a Chinese hitbot lol
The old players in this game are simply milking the noobs dry whilst pretending to help them.

I've seen sites offering 0.01 bitcoins for a betfair signup
You can see what they are earning here http://betting.betfair.com/refer/

I'm not making nobody work. It's just an easy way for people to get a few bitcents to feel the system.
If someone is using the site as a way to make a living, or if you think someone will be that crazy, well, not sure what I can say to that.

lol what you mean is your payouts are so insanely greedy you've had to disguise the true value of your payouts by using terminologies like Satoshi's to confuse the noobs into thinking they are earning something.

0.4 cents for a signup

And so far I haven't seen anything that can earn more than 1.2 cents an hour.

I stick to my original post, its costing people money to use your site to earn bitcoins unless they are running some super energy saving computer and super cheap electricity. I seriously doubt you can run a computer for 1.2 cents an hour Cheesy

ok I'm curious, what the hell is a Satoshi?

There is a Terminology thread that is stickied that explains all the various terms that those new to Bitcoin may not be familiar with.

From that thread:
'SAT' & 'Satoshi'
Smallest possible denomination of bitcoin, which is 0.00000001 BTC.

ok so 200 sashawotsits per hour = 0.000002 bitcoins
That's two one millionths of a bitcoin LOL
It would cost a LOT more than that in electricity for the computer, you have got to be kidding?
Either my calculations are badly wrong or its costing people money to use your website.

No idea where you got the 200 satoshis per hour figure from, but whatever.
The smallest reward is 500 satoshis for a captcha, and you can submit one every 30 seconds. But what do I know...

I got the 200 an hour from here , obviously I misunderstood the post.

"You'll earn 2000 Satoshi's for registering and 200 for every hour of the day we detect action from you on the site. After the beta period those values will be 1000 and 100 Satoshi's respectively."

But seriously 20,000 Satoshi signup bonus is actually only worth 0.0002 of a bitcoin and with 1 bitcoin being worth $20 that means the "special double bonus" signup fee is worth 0.4 cents.

500 Satoshi every 30 seconds =  60,000 an hour so 0.00000001 * 60000 = 0.0006 bitcoins an hour and that translates to about 1.2 cents an hour , but 500 Satoshi is the minimum, whats the maximum payout worth?

Please tell me I'm working this out all wrong, it makes the Indian kids working in sweatshops for a dollar a day look like they landed the jackpot  Grin

When you use your computer what tasks are you constantly having to do by hand because you can't find the right software to do it for you?

Maybe I can help Smiley ..... for bit coins

Maybe its extracting data from a MySQL database , converting data from one format to another, file management, converting data into html pages, organising, sorting, removing duplicates, etc etc

Web site ripping, if you can browse a site by hand and collect data from it I can write software to do the same job thousands of times faster. This includes mining search engines (i.e sending automated search requests and harvesting the results)

Just let me know what you want done and I'll let you know if its possible and how much.

I work CHEAP  Grin

Demo version only lets you search one site,
the full version searches  1337x.org - h33t.com - torrentreactor.net - torrentzap.com

Search results can be sent directly to your torrent client, you can also search google for the torrent hash or the torrent description, open up the source page, etc etc

*edit*

Ok I'm fairly desperate to get some bitcoins so that I can start my own project.

You can find the available list here  http://kickme.to/bitcoins  (scroll down the page)

The working list will be sent before payment provided you have a reasonable (honest) forum profile.

b2t: r u serious?

Actually its bitstick not bitsick, but I have no idea what the problem is with the username!!
My name is steve, I got fed up of searching google for a bitcoin related name that was unique
i.e it didn't return any search results so I just used the first thing that popped into my head....
