Board Scam Accusations
Re: Bitcoinin --- BE WARNED / AVOID
by

We sent this customer's order and were notified after some time that they had not received it.  We have not received any returned package, so we have an open inquiry with the post office which is necessary for the insurance company to determine that the package is lost and that the insurance claim can proceed.  Due to the irreversible nature of Bitcoin transactions, we cannot return funds until we receive the returned package or the post office confirms that the package wasn't delivered and has been lost.  Simply returning funds as soon as a customer says that they hadn't received their order would make us a huge target for scams that would quickly put us out of business.  Even without scams, we often encounter customs delays or sometimes packages will "re-appear" after these inquiries are started.  Unfortunately some countries' inquiry processes take much longer than others which is something we do not have any control over, but we plan to add a more comprehensive Shipping FAQ to our site detailing these kinds of scenarios so that customers can be more aware of what to expect if there are problems with shipping.

We have been in constant communication with the customer for every step of this process.  We look forward to having this issue resolved to the customer's satisfaction as soon as is possible, though that does still require continuing to wait for the results of the postal inquiry.

Not much inventory but the prices seem pretty good

We try to keep the Pi's in stock, but they do have a tendency to fly off the shelves as soon as we get a new shipment in stock.  We're also adding new accessories and products periodically - we just added the model A.

Hello,
I want to buy RPI with case from someone inside EU.
Name ur price.

We aren't in the EU, but we ship a RPI there for around $5 USD.  Currently we only have the larger kits in stock, but we'll have the individual Pi back on Monday.

Re: Bitcoin Reserve Board?
by
Bitcoinin
on 04/04/2013, 13:11:32 UTC
Instead of trying to guide the market, some legitimate group could create a floor to the market which could add some stability (but it would also rapidly increase the price short term).  For example, if a Bitcoin Reserve Board guaranteed that they would exchange $30 USD for any BTC right now then flash crashes would theoretically be lessened since there would be less panic that the price could drop to 0.  The entity would have to be highly trusted and they'd probably never have to pay anything out since the individual markets would create their own walls at their guaranteed price knowing that the guarantee exists.  Their guarantee wouldn't have to be high for it to have an impact and a guarantee by a trusted organization would also provide a response to claims that "Bitcoin isn't backed by anything".

If someone or some group with very deep pockets wanted to assist stability, I think this would be the way to do it instead of attempting to fully control the market.

We'll leave the survey open if anyone else wants to fill it out, but we're paying out the BTC now and closing the window for receiving the "reward".

Thanks for all the input from everyone - we're still digesting the results, but we're learning a lot and will apply it to how we're expanding!

Re: Do pooled miners directly participate in the Bitcoin network?
by
Bitcoinin
on 13/03/2013, 12:29:26 UTC
No - pooled miners do not participate directly.  They are allowing the pool operator to handle the interactions with the network for them.

The one exception is P2Pool ( https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool )

Yesterday we were very happy to add more affordable shipping options for lighter-weight packages for domestic and especially international.  Shipping price has been one of the biggest complaints and we've been listening!

We've also started stocking additional Raspberry Pi options:

The NoScript compatibility is a nice touch, not perfect but fine for casual browsing, thanks! Shipping options are pretty steep for Canada but I'll keep tabs on your offerings.

Yes, there are some minor annoyances if you're using NoScript, but we will always ensure that you can fully navigate and complete the entire checkout process without Javascript.  Over time we hope to be able to tackle more of the annoyances if the NoScript crowd continues to be a decent percentage of visitors.

Store looks great!!

Sure does Bitcoinin, great job.  Smiley

Thanks for all of the compliments, suggestions, and support!  We appreciate it greatly and it fuels our drive to build the best online ecommerce experience possible.  We aren't just looking to get other online stores to start accepting Bitcoin: we think that there are a number of massive inefficiencies in the current world of online retail - traditional payment methods only being one of them - and that we can build something better with the help of Bitcoin.
