Re: PhoenixMiner 5.4c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux)

Hi, I have rigs with 6 x p106-100 mining edition and they work just fine with 5.3b (on 382.43 driver version).
But when I update miner to 5.4c it simply doesn't start, miner closes in a second.

I tried updating drivers to 460.89 and 5.4c starts but shows me errors:

NVAPI error in NvapiWrapper.c:316 : -6
Unable to load NvAPI: error 3
GPU1: unable to init NvAPI with bus ID 65536
GPU2: unable to init NvAPI with bus ID 131072
GPU3: unable to init NvAPI with bus ID 196608
GPU4: unable to init NvAPI with bus ID 262144
GPU5: unable to init NvAPI with bus ID 327680
GPU6: unable to init NvAPI with bus ID 393216

What's wrong? Should I either continue to stay on 5.3b and don't update or there's a better driver to work with p106-100?

i have EVGA P106-100 now run with 441.66 stock bios
PM 5.3b, 5.4b and 5.4c get the same 21,2 Mhs on Ethas
i dont adjust anything, lets you try
maybe you can get luck with your experience

I used the same GPU too
get 15-16Mhs with stock bios to mine ETH using PM 5.4b

The new beta version is ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.4b from here:

https://mega.nz/folder/OJ9BCYaD#osOU-PywjweHqQkux8rpbQ  (MEGA)

If you want to check the integrity of the downloaded file, please use the following hashes (you need the last file PhoenixMiner_NVRTC_Windows.zip only if you want to mine BCI with Nvdia cards under Windows):

The new features in this release are:

  • New kernels for AMD Vega and Navi GPUs that are slightly faster when the DAG buffer is approaching or passing 4GB in size (the current ETH DAG is close to 4GB). To use these new kernels, you need to use drivers 20.5.1 or later under Win10, or 20.10.x or later under Linux
  • Automatic re-running auto-tune as needed when switching to a different DAG buffer type (e.g. when switching from ETH to ETC, or back)
  • Added support for the latest AMD Windows 10 drivers 20.12.1 and 20.11.3
  • Fixed crash when trying to set -mvddc on very old AMD drivers (including the beta blockchain drivers from 2017)
  • Other small fixes and improvements

Some notes on the best (or at least some of the better) drivers for AMD cards:
  • If you have 6GB or 8GB card that is at least Polaris (i.e. 470/480/570/580, Vega, Radeon VII, Navi), you should run at least driver 20.5.1 under Windows 10, or driver 20.10.x under Linux.
  • If you have 4GB Polaris card (i.e. 470/480/570/580), ideally you should also run drivers 20.5.1 or later. At the very least the drivers should be either 18.12.1.1 to 19.7.5 (inclusive), or 19.12.2 and later. Under Linux, drivers 19.x.x or 20.x.x should be OK for 4GB cards.
  • Avoid using the 20.40.x, and 20.45.x drivers under Linux.

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.4b.

Hi ppl! I have an error when I try to use -mt 1 option. I've searched the forum but I haven't found a solution. So, when the -mt 1 is applied I get this message:

GPU1: Unable to set VMEM timing to 1 - error: -8
GPU2: Unable to set VMEM timing to 1 - error: -8
GPU3: Unable to set VMEM timing to 1 - error: -8
GPU4: Unable to set VMEM timing to 1 - error: -8
GPU5: Unable to set VMEM timing to 1 - error: -8

I have Sapphire Nitro+ rx570/rx580 cards.

same with me...
since yesterday my miner stops with DAG problem

all my GPU are 8Gb..
why...? phoenixminer must investigated this error and fix it in update ASAP

after 6 more hours make update to win10.. (i can't sleep.. here 4:54AM now)  Grin
used AMD Driver 12.4.2 >>> i can see my GPU all work in device manager  Grin
patch by 'atikmdag-patcher-1.4.7'
switch to compute mode by 'AMD-Compute-Switcher'

but,...
using Phoenix miner 5.2e and 5.3b still same, hashrate still not change like before..

here is the result:

....

any suggestion to make RX480 back to 30Mhs..?
thanks
Remove the -straps command - it is not supported on Polaris GPUs. Then try mining ETC to see the normal hashrate (you need PhoenixMiner 5.3b) when the DAG actually fits in the VRAM.

You won't be able to mine ETH with full speed on 4 GB cards under Windows any more but it will be more like 20-23 MH/s with the current DAG epoch and will go down a little with each new epoch - you will need to let auto-tine to finish in order to see the final hashrate.

wholaaaaa...
after more than 1 day and half make change to Phoenixminer..
now my miner can run and see my rig hashing..

here is my result:

https://i.postimg.cc/FsTwRvJg/tempsetting.jpg

3x RX480 8Gb average 26,9Mhs
2x R9 390 8Gb average 15Mhs

maybe any other clue to make my setting can be more optimum ?
thanks

go install AMD DRIVER ver 20.4.2

after update my AMD Driver using 20.4.2, i've still having problem like before..
- 5 GPu work only 4
- RX480 just get 9mhs
- after a few minutes miner shows error: Allocating buffers failed with clCreatedBuffers (-61) and stop

https://i.postimg.cc/7ZByTSJR/miner2.jpg

my problem never solved..
sad mode: ON
No it is not risers
1st make sure just run only 1 RX card. DDU the driver on safe mode then install 1card RX then install 20.11.1 driver. after turn compute mode on. after make your settings and OC setting using amd wattman or overdriventool. look what you get with 1 card if it is hashing normal then keep adding your cards back. is it bios modded cards? and delete all those commands just run clean phoenixminer.exe. you can leave proto 4 and stales 0 pass x for nicehash.

Your solution is the next:
1. win10
2. driver 20.4.2
3. patch by 'atikmdag-patcher-1.4.7'
4. switch to compute mode by 'AMD-Compute-Switcher'
restart and enjoy)))

can someone tell me about this error and how to solve it.
thank you

I also have 390's and serious troubles with them.
1. On Windows the hash dropped by 50% a long time ago due to drivers issue. There is no workaround for that known to me. And who would like to mine at 17 Mh with a power consumption 220-250W (at best with undervolted bios)?
2. On linux based OS with Claymore everything is fine but the miner will stop workig in a few weeks.
3. Practically every other miner I've tried - ethminer, nbminer, gminer and lolminer, half of the cards are not hashing under linux based OS. If someone has the patience and skills to run with Ubuntu 14 and Amd drivers 17, it may work at the end. But I prefer plug and play OS like smos or hiveos.
4. The only miner that can support different kernels is phoenixminer. With parameters -clKernel 0 -clNew 0 (i.e. the generic kernels) all cards are hashing, BUT, as the developer commented a few pages back, the stale shares are too many. If I mine with the default intensity they go over 20%. If I lower the intensity -mi 7, they drop to 10%, but still not good. For example, with Claymore I have the full 30 Mh with less than 1% stale shares. May be even below 0.1%.
5. For some reason smos and hiveos are crashing on start when I run a mixed rig with 390 cards and rx cards. Tomorrow I will try 390's with nvidia 1060 under hiveos, but I have no high hopes for this to work either.

now i run with Win7 OS..
my R9 390 only get 18-19 Mhs with Clay####, but now i just get 14-15 using Phoenixminer
any sugestion ?

go install AMD DRIVER ver 20.4.2

i'll try and will update
