Re: 1.3M went through Satoshi's wallet.

This is nothing new. People send bitcoin to the genesis block all the time. Its basically burning bitcoin away. Sometimes its done on some anniversary of some bitcoin event and sometimes its done randomly.

The transaction came from an exchange which batched the withdraws. So there could of been 5-10 different actual withdraws and 1 of them was someone that sent it to the genesis block. Why did he send it there? Probably wanted to donate his bitcoins, I am not sure.

But this is not satoshi reappearing. If money was spend from that address it would be different but anyone can send bitcoins to the genesis block.

Nothing strange here people have sending bitcoin to the genesis blocks for the year it’s a basically like burning the coins some do it on bitcoin anniversaries some just randomly. how ever in this case the transaction came from exchange batching withdrawal so it could have been serveral transaction grouped together one of those users probably decided to send their coins to genesis block maybe as a symbolic gesture or a donation.
But let be clear this isn’t satoshi if coins were moved from the genesis address that would be historic sending to it is something anyone can do.

Re: Why as Nigerians we must keep our information safe rather rely on the government

Nigeria banks e dey negligent and dey only want di customers to deposit and they deduct or use the money of the depositor to do business nai be only thing they know. And apart from banks as you said government organizations and institutions are worst than the banks example like schools, after graduation we submit our projects and after some years the projects we have written were disposed in the wastebin or in the public domain and anyone saw am go collect and see your informations and contact you either Facebook or other media platforms through the name.
Today I been dey think of something, "Gmail" na one of the secure platform in the world. People have been using Gmail for years (20+years) yet they are still using it, but I don't think there is any Facebook account that has spent 20+ years in Nigeria.
And do issue, no be we be the custodial of the bank details so we can't secure them but the banks and if dem no fit keep well, na so scammers go dey call us like that but we should be careful of the calls. Bank customers will never call you to ask your bank login details or OTP. But if you make a deposit and you didn't write the account details current them go call you and only ask you the correct account number.

Be careful when dealing with banks online.

In short Nigeria banks no dey really cares about customers like that all wey dem sabi na make you deposit your money dem fit use am run their business security matter no Dey to their list at all and e no stop for bank government institution sef worse example na school after: graduation all the project we stuffer write just dey end up for dustbin or sometimes even out side where anybody fit carry am see your full name and latter track you down for facebook or other platforms.
But look Gmail people don dey use am for over 20 years and still solid secure for Nigeria I no sure say person fit maintain one facebook account account reach 20 year with wahala.
How ever the fact be say we no be the real custodian of our banking details the banks Dey in charge if dem no protect well na scam calls we go dey receive Stedy that is why everybody gats shine eye remember bank no go ever call you to ask for login details or one time password. The only normal call you fit get na if you make a deposit and miss the correct account number then dem go just ask for the right details nothing more.
So abeg make we all dey careful with banks online.

Re: Lubian hack
by

I believe an arrest was already made... at least one hacker has been caught!
Any credible new source about the arrest?

Honestly, it's my first time hearing about this incident, even when it happened 5 years ago and was bigger that most crypto exchange hacks that have ever happened in this space.

The Bitcoins that were stolen from the mining pool, were they owned by the mining pool itself or the miners had a stake in them? If the miners had a stake, how is it that they didn't make any noise when maybe Lubian stopped payments and shutdown?

I have not seen any reliable news confirmed an arrest from what I understand the stolen BTC belonged to the mining pool but if miners had a share in it that could explain why payouts stopped and the pool disappeared it is possible it just was not widely reported so most miners moved on without making any much noise.
However it have come across any sold new confirming that anyone actually been arrested from what I gather the stolen bitcoin was tried to the mining pool but if miners had a share in those funds it would explain why payment suddenly stopped and pool went offline the strange thing is how little noise it made maybe it just did not get much coverage back then so most miners quietly switched to other pools and move on.

Re: Fiat currency VS Bitcoin
by
Boiboi20
on 15/08/2025, 16:25:11 UTC
But I can say that there will come a time when Bitcoin will be the most used currency, because as time goes by, fiat money is decreasing. Now people are afraid to carry paper money and go on the streets because there is a high chance of getting robbed, using Bitcoin is the safest because the passenger sitting next to you will never know if you have Bitcoin.
We are moving towards the future and using modern transactions more, it can be Bitcoin or we complete transactions by numbers, so the use of fiat currency is decreasing.

Nothing stops anyone from having Bitcoin and fiat, know this that Bitcoin can't replace fiat no matter our level of adoption.

Paper money isn't only called fiat, the balance in our banks are part of fiat, there are more electronic banks for fast spending and less charges. I don't believe banks and fiats are getting replaced, Bitcoin remains an alternative for fiat but likely to grow wide for investment purpose.

People are going to use Bitcoin for investment more than they will as currency.
[

I see what you mean bitcoins definitely getting more popular especially as people move away from carrrying cash but fiat is not just the paper money in your pocket it is also digital money sitting in your bank that already fast easy and widely accepted I don think bitcoin will fully replace fiat they all probably just run alongside each other with bitcoin being more for investing and fiat still used for the day to day spending

Re: The Power of Micro Bitcoin Accumulation
by
Boiboi20
on 15/08/2025, 10:32:12 UTC
Micro Bitcoin Accumulation is a very powerful because it levels the playing field meaning that wherever you are in this universe, the approach works the same: you buy a little at a time, consistently, and over months and years, those small purchases begins to add up.
Bitcoin over time raises in value so I understand why people would want to buy immediately now but bitcoin goes in cycles so you can still buy more when the price is not that high and then wait for the price to go up. Either way, you can be certain that you will end up profiting if you do dca over a long period of time.
Quote
One of the key Takeaway from all this is to correct the notion that has limited so many persons especially the newbies which is that- Bitcoin accumulation is only for the Upper Class.

Bitcoin accumulation certainly needs money but bit by bit anyone can do it as well.

Micro bitcoin accumulation is such a charger because it works the same no matter where you are in the world you just buy a little at a time stay consistent and over months or years those small buy starts to add up.
Sure bitcoin’s price often goes up over time so it’s tempting to jump in big right now but bitcoin move in cycles there will still be chance to buy when the price is lower if you keep staking bit by bit over the long run the odds are very much in your favor.
The biggest takeaway bitcoin accumulation is not just for the rich yes it take money but anyone can start small build from there.
I can’t also make it sound even more conversational and motivational if you like

Re: Challenges and potential solutions for bitcoin mining in Nigeria
by
Boiboi20
on 14/08/2025, 16:31:02 UTC
For years now bitcoin has thrived in Nigeria at a high rate. However today I figured out that no one talks about mining in the Nigeria board the same way we talk about P2P exchange. So I had to do some research and it turns out that Nigeria is actually not thriving when it comes to Bitcoin mining .Here is why.
Normally, we all know that mining needs a huge amount of steady energy supply to power the (ASIC) mining computers but in Nigeria we don't have steady electricity given the poor amount of energy supply and even low current This has made mining impossible in Nigeria. I can't even mention fuel or generators as an alternative to this issue. Furthermore, mining needs to be in a cool environment and our Nigeria's sun is very hot . Given that The computers and equipment needed to mine are very costly and can't even be found in Nigeria even if it was to be imported the cost of shipping them from other countries will be very high so just imagine they gets spoilt that will be another wahala entirely.but still it has been said that whatever has a problem must have a solution.
The solution I have taught of can only involve government intervention. It is certain that we have a high amount of renewable energy right , energy like solar and hydropower. It's a big one, but if the government chose to invest and develop on it, I am certain that it will bring about more reliable and sustainable cheap energy that can be used in the mining industry. And as well creating educational centres for people to learn how to use the mining technology. With that they will give all this private companies a good reasons to invest in renewable energy like solar and hydro power. This wouldn't only help the crypto mining industry, but other businesses that are still look for steady power supply also.
check out this links below

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/how-bitcoin-mining-is-perfect-for-nigeria

All this involves the government intervention if possible they decides to build a local market for mining gear and experts in Nigeria, it will make our country Nigeria a major crypto mining country in Africa.

Bitcoin don dey boom for Najia for many years now especially P2P trading everybody dey talk about am but I come notice say nobody dey really talk about bitcoin mining like that so I do small research and e clear say Nigeria  no too dey shine for mining at all.
Why mining need strong light and heavy equipment but for najia light no stable fuel walha lau to much generator no be sustainable and sun dey hot like fire plus those mining machines cost die and to import dem na another level of expense if dem spoil nko na wahala.
But sha every problem get solution Nigeria get many renewable energy like solar and hydro if government fit put hand invest well and make better infrastructure we fit build something strong dem fit even open Centres way go teach people to mine proper if dem do all this e go attract private companies join body.
No be crypto mining go gain even normal business go benefit form better power supply na win win.

The USA govt seized 7.5 million illicit crypto accounts from Nigeria and Russia.

According to the news, the fraudster scams his victims by requesting them to send money to "false escrow entities" that their fund will use to invest into the oil and gas industry.

Assets include a Binance account, 19 BTC, 39 ETC, and over 156 TRX.

According to the news, fake accounts were opened by scammers that include different institutions.

This scam of a thing is becoming alarming and is ruining our nation. Although, it includes a fraudster from Russia too. My own concern is my nation. It is damaging our noble country's image internationally. It is unfair. Can Nigerians be trusted internationally as they used to be in the 80s anymore?

https://gazettengr.com/u-s-govt-confiscates-7-5-million-illicit-crypto-assets-from-nigerian-fraudsters-binance-accounts/

The united state American security and department of justice filed a civil forfeiture complaint in seeking to confiscate over $7.5 million in cryptocurrency linked to a sophisticated fraud scheme involving operations in Nigeria and Russia.

The scammers set up a fake escrow company promising oil and gas investments such as oil tank storage in Rotterdam or Houston. Victims transferred funds we cut off and the money was repaid coverted into crypto and funneled through a web of account.
The united states American government is currently seeking of a court order to finalize forfeiture of the assets back to victims.

Re: Nigerian youths are no longer interested in apprenticeship.
by
Boiboi20
on 12/08/2025, 09:05:34 UTC
While growing up, it is common to see young men going to learn technical or vocational skills in Nigeria. They will become apprentices in mechanical, electrical, carpentry,  plumbing, vulcanizing, and other skills. If you go to this workshop, you will see many youths there learning skills.

These days, the number of young people who are learning this handwork has reduced drastically. These workshops These days are somehow empty and you will see mostly men in their forties and fifties.

I was discussing with a mechanic today and he told me that the youths are now focused on online jobs. He said many of the apprentices who came to learn skills dropped out. He claimed that most of them are impatient and want quick money.

He claimed that these youths are now focused on G and Naija bet. I don't know how true his reasons are. How you reason am?
I don't think that youths are no longer learning skills jobs anymore because with the current economy of Nigeria, learning a skill or handwork is very important. It is not everyone that will go into online jobs, we need mechanics to fix our cars, radionic to repair our electronics and the rest.

As a matter of fact, if you go to higher institutions, you will see that most of this skills are also learned there. Down here in my environment, I still see young youth on apprenticeship. If all the age men in this skill jobs die, who will repair our cars and render services on other skills. If you are a professional in your skill, you wouldn't bother on how to survive in a harsh economy.

Many Nigeria’s youths now aspire to white collar jobs entrepreneurship or careers in tech, entertainment, and social media, which often seem more prestigious and promising than traditional trades.
Like tailoring, carpentry, or mechanics are often viewed as less prestigious.
Online platforms glamorize lifestyle associated with quick wealth, influencing youths expectations.

But make we no lie people still dey learn handwork na just say no too loud like before for my area self I still dey see small boys dey fellow Oga learn work even in universities many Dey learn skills on the side the truth be say everybody no fit do tech or online work country hard so any legit skills we fit bring daily food na blessing to the person..

Re: Another Risk In Bitcoin Investment.
by
Boiboi20
on 13/07/2025, 17:31:41 UTC
Let me make it very simple for you to understand. I am not saying that you should not invest but make your alternative calculation before investing. You can invest at all time. And the risk is always on you not another person. And if you don't know you have to know now. The fluctuation of US dollar affect bitcoin investment most a country like mine and those countries that have the same fate with mine. Right now $1 is N 1,548 and the price of bitcoin is $94,750. And my interest is not even bitcoin but $/local currencies. If you invest now and you  invest with $2,000 now and in 20 years to come bitcoin hit $700,000+ in my country $1/N100. Do I gain or do I lose? This my point please understand before commenting. You are free to invest at all time and wait to 100 years to come.
This is just a wishful thinking because you and i know that the reason why we are investing in bitcoin is to save our money from inflation which Fiats currencies are likely to suffer over the years and from your analysis, we know that unforeseen events can happen in the future which can make the local currencies to gain value over the US dollar but i know that you are just giving an instance but let's be realistic here, do you think that your local currency can gain so much strength against the dollar in 20 years time? definitely NOT gonna happen.

Even from the calculations you gave above, you still look lost because if the price of Bitcoin skyrockets from the $94,750 to $700k+ in the next 20 years, regardless of your currency conversion rate against the dollar, it will still be profitable to you because there will no longer be inflation or it has reduced to the minimal which means the cost of living will also be lowered as against how inflation drove the cost of living when the price of your local currency was 1,548 naira as against the US dollars. I don't know if am making a sense to you here?
True. Even in a case where any local currency could gain something over dollar, it is not going to do it against the bitcoin at the same time. If we can invest into bitcoin, we are leveraging ourselves over all other fiats in the world, and that is why everyone who gets into bitcoin, usually stays in bitcoin.

I have seen plenty of people who said they want to leave, and eventually they ended up coming back, because they all see the benefit of bitcoin here and there, which makes things a lot easier for the long term as well. This doesn't mean that we are going to see much changes, it is not going to be easy, but if we can make it work, then we could definitely consider this a very important figure for all of us.

Like it’s popularly said by bitcoin investment expert, the right time to invest in bitcoin is now regardless of the of the value of your local currency. Imagine someone who did not invest in the last five years when bitcoin was probably 50 thousand dollars per one btc because is local currency was suffering in the forex market maybe due to poor policy decisions made by the regime in government at that period of time , such person will be in serious regret by now .

The best advice you can give a friend is invest more now in bitcoin whether the economy of the country is favorable or not
