I was able to fix the issues with my boards.  Instead of just thermal paste I used:

Fujipoly / ModRight Ultra Extreme System Builder Thermal Pad Blister Pack - 1/2 Sheet - 200 x 150 x 0.5 - Thermal Conductivity 17.0 W/mK

I cut small squares of the thermal pad, cleaned the paste off the cooler and the chip, and applied the pad material.  This made a huge difference in the cooling ability of the fans.

Just an FYI if you are having issues...

Is there a diagnostic procedure for the HEX4M running on the TP-Link devices?

I have several HEX4M boards which are running around 4Gh and I was hoping there was a process for figuring out what is wrong with them.

I remounted the coolers with fresh paste and tried different settings but they still don't behave properly.

I have not received a single board yet.  Waiting on 25 boards.

Where any boards shipped out this week?  I didn't get my usual email from DHL that a package was being delivered...  Still waiting on 67 more boards plus 1 rma.

second week of no boards delivered. still waiting for 67 more boards.

I was in Batch 1 and have not seen any boards as of yet.  How far along are we now?

What are the options for hosting btw?

I am looking at 25 boards and there is a limit on how much heat I can host in my house.   Shocked

According to my math if I exchanged my orders I would end up with 200 chips which is 50 boards.

This would be 20000 GH/s and 20000 watts.

The problem I have is hosting at that point.  Is there any option for hosting these with Miner Source?

We are working on that option, odds are it shouldnt be a problem. Pricing is up in the air at the moment.

I have had good luck working with you and I am up for it again.

Count me in.

Let me know what steps I need to take next and we will shoot the moon.

For those who have assembled their chilis with thermal pads instead of paste -

Do you cut small squares for each chip or have you been using one large pad that also covers the open area between the chips?

Thanks!

I used one large pad which also covers the open area between the chips.  I have had no problems with that technique.

We might take a look at something like that. The minions are interesting chips in a lot of ways. A lot of the basic design is done, so while it wouldn't be a dead simple port like Avalon Gen1 to Gen2, it would be a similar interface and setup to the BFL chips.

EPIC!

I am in! Should we start a tally somewhere to get an idea of how much support there is for this?

Bob, what do you think is a fair price per chip since you are THE first person in line?

I cant really sell the chips at a discount, but I can offer them to be delivered ASAP. I guess I should make the thread now..

Count me in as well.   Cool

Well, I ran into a problem with two of my Chili's.  I installed ARCTIC Accelero Twin Turbo II units on all the boards but two of them dropped down to 22Gh/s at 67C.

One of the two was in service for weeks before the problem and the other ran fine for two days before it happened.

I used "Fujipoly Ultra Extreme System Builder Thermal Pad - Full Sheet - 200 x 150 x 0.5 - Thermal Conductivity 17.0 W/mK" and the Arctic back plate to prevent flexing.

Should I try using the Arctic paste on these two instead?

Thank you both once again for making this happen.  I know it was a ton of work but the results are fantastic!

If you want to see them in action, here is a photo you will either like or cringe when you see.

Anyone found a graphic card cooler that would work good with this board?

I have been using the Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo II for these with good results.  I bought the Arctic back plates as well to give the board more support.

Do you have a link to the back planes?

The page is messed up on the Arctic site but here it is:

Here is the cooler:

I am going to order the "Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo II" units for my boards.  What would you recommend for the backplate?  Does this unit come with one?

I have been thinking about using PCI cages to mount the boards instead of PC cases.  I could also use rack mounted cases.

These support 6 boards each and should be pretty easy to mount in a mining configuration.  Any comments?

MrTeal, et al...

Great job!!

I have additional chips arriving in November.  Will you still be selling the boards then?  I would love to get more boards!

My suggestion would be the "Dr. Mrs. The Monarch" or the "Swallowtail".   Cheesy
