I don't think a person who bought $5 of bitcoin could have waited until bitcoin gets $2,500 or above. The person who bought for low prices, would probably sell it after he gets x2 or x5 let's say.

As you said most people probably would have sold their bitcoin shortly after buying them when they gave a good price

Well, it was 2010 7 years ago, Bitcoin was about a year old, the community was small, no-one really knew about it beyond those involved in the project, or at least they never thought about it. It makes sense that having purchased $5 of something that was essentially unknown at that point would make someone millions of dollars richer after a few years, assuming that the asset kept growing, which happened in Bitcoin's case.

I wish I knew about it before 2013, but that's life. Won't miss out on opportunities like this in the future.

Same here I wish I knew about it before 2013 too but life goes on. Chances of getting another opportunity like that will be small because the market is flooded with too many coins.

why go so far away back in time like this? it just makes everyone feel regretful in my opinion. lets stick to more recent events.. for example if you had bought any amount of bitcoin about 7 months ago, you would have more than doubled your money already! Cool

Your spin on it makes sense but unless you look back you cannot learn from mistakes and guide for the future. That is my opinion.

Re: [ANN][MEOW] KittehCoin Relaunch IS HERE!!!!
by

In short, I hold some Kitteh and hope for the price to go up but having said that I will not buy any more as I do not see it as value for money. There are far too many options out there.

Kitteh has nothing that makes itself stand out from the crowd. Currently there are nearly 600 crypto and with the exception of a handful of them none have any stability or proven track record. Adding a few gifs/pngs with cute kittens and few doge-style comic sentences superimposed on those images will not do anything for Kitteh, just like it will not do anything for other crypto.

Look at Darkcoin, regardless of where it is in the charts now it has remained in and around the top-ten after hitting a peak of top-5, I think. It offers something that other crypto did not have with harder to track transactions. It made it different to other crypto out there. Sadly Kitteh like hundreds of others has neither anything nothing nor interesting to offer.... Maybe that will change in future.

There are far too many coins on the market now. Over a period of time the coins worth investing in will show their value and most of the developers that launched their coins for pump and dump purposes will simply make a bit of profit and then let their coin die.

Nice to see Kitteh still going but it will take something significant (other than catchy promotions) that will help elevate any coin. Dogecoin did it a year ago and cornered the "funny promotion" market. After its initial success its value dropped tremendously but when the bobsleigh team came along asking for Dogecoin donations, the price suddenly rocketed and then became steady again.

I wish Kitteh success but it has a lot of competition on its hand.

Would it make any sense to transfer your Pennies to an Exchange, delete the old Piggy Bank, install new updated version of Piggy Bank, sync and test deposit a few Pennies, if works ok transfer Pennies back from Exchange to new Piggy Bank ??

Thanks for the reply.

The issue was that the QT would not open with the backed up wallet.dat but now all works. I let the thing run all night and when I checked in the morning it was fine. Many thanks to all those that tried to help Smiley

Thank you newuser01 and hypostatization for the replies.

Ok, so if I have this understood correctly, 70B XRP are with the developers/investors and 30B XRP are with 'others'. And as it stands, the only way for anyone to have XRP added to their wallet is by purchasing them from someone who is selling them.

So they will not be 'giving' them away or 'donating' a sizeable chunk to XRP wallet holders?

Thank you for the clarification, most appreciated.

You don't

You buy them on an exchange.. even when this worked people weren't really mining them anyway, just exchanging computing power for premined coins.

Thank you for the reply. What about the other billions of XRP that have not been released yet? How will RippleLabs distribute them?

No, they stopped the Computing for Good giveaway. The Computing for Good website says this

Computing for Good, May 1, 2014: The Computing for Good project is no longer running

https://www.computingforgood.org/

Thank you for the reply. So now that computingforgood has closed, how does someone use a computer or server to obtain/mine XRP?

Please can someone explain what the latest way is to 'mine' or obtain XRP? Can DigitalOcean servers still be used? If so, are they viable to use v/s the XRP gained?

Many Thanks

did you backup the old Pennies wallet.dat

Yes I did back it up but when I add it to the new QT the QT does not open. When I replace it with the original wallet generated in the new QT then the wallet opens.

Thanks for trying to help Multiinone.

The "repairwallet" command line was the first thing I did when the wallet loaded but the old coins do not appear:

{
"wallet check passed" : true
}

I renamed my old Pennies folder in the Roaming folder to "Pennies2" and installed the new version. Do I copy and paste anything from Pennies2 in to the new Pennies folder to get my coins balance to show?

Going to be doing a giveaway on the subreddit sometime in the near future.

www.reddit.com/r/CENT

Can you please let me know how to get my Pennies from my old QT to show in my new one? I have updated the client, all sync'd but balance shows zero. I tried replacing the wallet but it does not work.

Thanks

No one to help to out?
