Hashers gonna hash...

Haters gonna hate...

But I look at it this way.. If I replaced a 200MH card that ate 250W of power with a 333MH ASIC that uses 2.5W, then I will see quite a difference in power consumption...
Ultimately this is all a hobby to me. I used no actual money to buy any of this stuff. Just free BTC I mined myself... So in the end, I never actually lose any of my REAL money that I actually worked for, other than power I pay via electric bill...  so I feel better with ASICs.. cause I am losing less REAL money....

hobby vs business... I don't give a shit about ROI or profit... I am doing this for fun...

International Sales are now available on the ASIC Store page!

UPDATE:  Requests to lie on the customs declaration will be ignored.  I will not be a party to your attempt to evade taxes/duties by falsifying the information on the form.  Amounts will be declared using approximate wholesale values, denominated in USD.

I get asked this all the time on eBay. I just do not think people in other countries realize just how serious such a thing as falsifying a customs declaration can be in the post 911 USA...

@ eleuthria: idk if its bugged, but my shares from shift 8355 to present are not being displayed, yet my activity keeps showing accepted work every few seconds. pm me for more details plz

Edit: no change after restarting miner, just to make sure miner wasnt bugged.

I had that happen to me once and all my shares were showing up under "Other". Had to restart my computer to get it going normal again. That was on a video card. From the miner window, all looked normal.

Thanks Eleuthria,  Good to hear.

I know the store went live and a coupon redemption program was never thought to be a remote possibility.

Looking forward to those "Golden" Coupons to the ASIC factory.     Smiley

Do they come with the tour too. Grin

Use cgminer and my API Smiley
Write a little script to check it every 2 seconds for expected values.
The most useful one being 'devs' "Last Valid Work"
There are sample programs to access the API in Java, PHP, Python and C

Unfortunately, anything related to a worker's actual speed will need to be a local warning system.  It's much more reliable, and more feasible to implement.  Some kind of API monitor that sends you an email when a worker drops too low would not be hard to implement, whereas offering it as a standard feature could add a lot of extra load to the pool given how many actual workers are running at any given time.

Actually, I have just started playing with Arduinos and I think it would be more fun to make an arduino watch for the green light and email me!!
Better than my original plan of flusing a toilet, right...  Grin

It's something I'll consider.  If it's a big annoyance, one current workaround is hiding that worker.  Hidden workers will not generate idle notification emails.  Idle miner code is something I have been meaning to rewrite the script for to find a more efficient way to scan through the last share times of workers, so once I get to that (right now my focus is DDoS mitigation + new colocation), I will likely fit in the per-worker notification settings.

I would like to see code for a minimum threshold too. One of my ASICs dropped off and required a restart to get it active again.... The others kept churning away and I did not notice it until I saw the green light was on as I walked by...  Not sure if that is really possible though due to variance over time..

I'm splitting my time efficiently.  Working on shipping gives me time to think about additional precautions and sanity checks like I posted earlier.

Shipping Update:  I've done ~40 packages so far, and expect to get quite a few more done before they ship out.  Please note that the Shipping Queue is an absolute number, increasing by 1 per order.  Most orders in the queue beyond 100 are going to go MUCH faster.  The earliest orders contained large quantities per order, while later orders tended to be much smaller in size.

I do my most creative programming and engineering problem solving while doing mundane tasks...  Cannot even begin to list the number of times a eureka moment hit while mowing the lawn!...  Only problem is by the time I get done with the task, I don't always remember the solution I came up with... Mowing 3 acres takes a while....

Yes, Manual payouts are still disabled at this time.  An update now that I've had a day to work on it:

Yesterday, a significant number of coins were stolen from the pool.  The exact method this was done is not yet known.  Most of my time yesterday was spent doing a full audit on all SQL queries and RPC calls.  No immediate issues were apparent, so a full rewrite was done on significant amounts of code, including a full overhaul on frontend interface with the backend.  The frontend is no longer responsible for any payout calls, nor is it capable of editing/deleting/inserting information into the database related to earnings or payouts.  Additionally, the frontend is no longer capable of making RPC calls to the backend at all.

This is why manual payouts are still currently disabled.  At this time, the frontend is not capable of making modifications to payouts, or sending payouts.  I'm working on a new process to get manual payouts working again soon.  It's currently a 2nd priority, as I'm falling very far behind on packing & testing of erupters.  Going to be spending the first half of today getting 1/3 of the units shipped, while I think about all the double checks, sanity checks, etc., that will be needed in order to restore manual payouts in the new system.

I too am very sorry to hear about this!

However, I find myself thinking "Pack eleuthria Pack! Ship eleuthria Ship!" Cannot help it! I'm excited to get the new hardware..   Grin

I hope your security measures are enough to thwart a re-occurrence until you can figure out what happened..

[WTS] Nostromo game pad and Logitech MMO mouse.

I also have this listing up at arfcom where I have a rep:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_146/1182546_Nostromo_N52_Game_Pad_and_Logitech_G600_MMO_Gaming_Mouse.html

Please PM if interested..

Up for grabs are two items that are either brand new or only slightly used.

First is the Logitech MMO gaming mouse. I purchased one of these for myself and my wife. She loves hers, but I find it a bit too heavy for my taste.
I purchased it on Amazon for $60 and literally used it for no more than a few hours playing Guild Wars 2. Original box.
$40 + $5 for UPS shipping. Cont. USA. Alaska, Hawaii, etc. will be actual cost. PayPal or Bitcoin.

Also available is the Belkin Nostromo N52 Game Pad.
I picked this up at Best Buy for $35 as an "Open Box" item. Works fine and I used it several hours but found that it requires a bit more pressure than I like.
$15 + $5 UPS shipping. Cont. USA. Alaska, Hawaii, etc. will be actual cost. Paypal or Bitcoin.

Longstanding bug on windows for when network goes down; it's my secret way to get people to move to linux.

Obviously not the case, but anyway I've not been able to reproduce it myself so must be some combination of windows or other issue. You could always try helping debug it following instructions in here:
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/debug/

I suspect it's just the libcurl implementation on windows... which would be bad news since it won't be something I can personally fix.

Grin  between linux and mac users, the jabs never end...

Will do on the debug.... I may be working in an uncommon setup which may be compounding the issue. I run plonk to create an ssh tunnel on port 3333 to the pool via my home DDWRT router. Because the SSH tunnel can collapse at the slightest of network hiccups, which we have many, I restart plonk every 30 minutes. I believe the issue only happens when connected via stratum protocols. Too early to tell, I just started with cgminer since my pool switched over to stratum. However, I wish I had looked at it sooner because I am getting much better hash rates with cgminer!

Thanks!!

I think there's still something awry with gracefully handling disconnects.  It isn't unique to stratum, as I've seen it on LPs as well.

Right now have three units running... one with 1 GPU, one with 2 GPUs, and one with 3 GPUs.  At the time all were pointed to stratum pools with bitcoind (LP) as a backup.

My internet connection dropped for a short bit.  The 1GPU machine recovered properly.  The 2GPU crashed, the 3GPU hung.

I've seen this before, where those with multiple GPUs crash or hang when the 1GPU continues working.  The 1 and 3 GPU machines are window 7 x64, the 2 GPU is windows 8 x64.

Using 2.9.6.

M

I just started using cgminer after over a year with phoenix and no issues and I am seeing this behavior. If there is a network issue, cgminer crashes in Windows and I get the not responding...searching for a resolution dialog from Windows. I can replicate the behavior like clockwork because I am mining over an SSH tunnel and I have a scheduled task that kills plonk every 30 minutes and restarts it. When plonk gets killed, cgminer crashes. So it does not like losing its network connection at all.

Additionally, I think the issue only happens when connected via the stratum protocol, but I am investigating the details...

Is stratum not connecting via http?

No, it is plain TCP socket.

Any ideas how to get what I had before to work with CGMiner and Stratum?

Make tunnel from localhost:3333 to stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 (yes, this one, really) and point cgminer to "stratum+tcp://localhost:3333".

Thanks Slush, up and running!

Slush.. or anyone

I am having a difficult time getting my head around the stratum stuff. I am trying to figure out if I will still be able to mine as I have been.
One of my mining locations requires that I mine Via SSH tunnels. So I setup my home router to be an SSH end-point and I run Putty on my miner and open SSH tunnels back to my home router.

So with Phoenix I mine with http://127.0.0.1:8332 which redirects via Putty to http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332 via my home router.
When running CGMiner it first connects via the above, but then gets new info and tries to connect to api-stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333.

I need to get that last connection to go out my SSH tunnel. So I setup a new tunnel http://127.0.0.1:3333 to http://api-stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 and changed the miner address to http://127.0.0.1:3333 but that does not seem to connect.

Is stratum not connecting via http?

Any ideas how to get what I had before to work with CGMiner and Stratum?

I like the wait... Something Zen about it I suppose...

I would imagine that is a built-in safety to better allow for the detection of fraud or manipulation.
