What type of confidence you do have that HashFast will deliver their GN chips? Additionally, where is that confidence coming from? Have you spoken with members of their team or do you have access to their chips/boards already?

I ask for several reasons, most being to clean up the bad taste in my mouth!

You may want to check out Marscoin if you are looking for another space coin.  Unlike Saturncoin though, Marscoin donated 400k coins to the MarsOne project.  MarsOne supporting the use of the coin... could be an interesting development.

I've spoken with the devs, they are going to be speaking at the Texas Conference and might be at the New York conference for alt currencies.  This is a coin that has potential, with some time and continued development there will be quite a bit of traction here.

I have to believe this is spot on. I've worked with a few ASIC companies and they either communicate well or not at all.  Friedcat has a long history in this business, I anticipate communication from him or his team in the next few weeks.

WesandEAC, not really sure what you are getting at but I'll just leave it.  Yes Bitcoin is an experiment, just like Facebook and the internet and electric cars and electricity.

As for Gox, of course they are to blame. Gox broadcast it's incompetency for the whole world to see, shining a bright light on Bitcoin instead of it's own failures as an exchange.  In doing so it disrupted the economy and created this network wide attacked on bitcoin transaction malleability.  If it's not Gox, I'm not really sure who else you could blame for it....

Of course it makes sense to start the coin now.  You have to understand that this is in fact a good test of a "use case" for coins.  Coins can represent a project, idea, an ideology or medical problem like curing aids.  If people BELIEVE in the cause, they will put money into the coin. They will buy it, mine it, and support it.  It's a direct influence on the primary holders of the coins, which happens to be MARS One.  Without use by the community, it would illiquid and would represent nothing.

If coins like this manage to thrive, many more will pop up representing causes that society values. You want to help homeless people? How about an abused animal coin to help all those poor dogs on TV with those big beedy eyes and sad music.  If MRS succeeds it's a fantastic use case example of how money can be moved to support a cause through this new digital ecosystem we are developing.

What I like about MarsCoin is what it represents. This is a future use case for alt currencies.  Supporting causes by voting with your dollar (or coins) is exactly what the future of cyrptocurrency will reflect.  If you do believe in this concept, and further believe in Mars, take a stab at this one.

Money should be used as a pricing mechanism for goods and services.  That's really the only purpose it should serve, it allows economies of scale to function by creating a single fungible unit of exchange that has value to anyone who receives of sends it.

The concepts of M1 money supply, quantitative easing, controlling interest rates, are all functions of big government and politics.  The adoption of BTC is a complete shift from these policies, I am surprised all the time that government has not intervened quicker.

I'm concerned that the company has all this hashing power in their data center to give out.  They just promised to offer hashing power of their 28nm equipment to all preorder customers.  Call it 3600 units at 3th/s each, or 10,800 th/s or mining power.

Originally, KnC's company mission was to only mine with 5% of what they produced for their customers.  That would mean that the company, after selling about 7,000th/s of mining power in 28nm chips, should have only about 5% or 350th/s on site in their data center....

Even if you assume the company delivered the entire network in hashing power, 18,000 th/s at 5% is only 900th/s on site at their data center.  How does a company that promised to only have 5% of their customer's orders hashing for themselves, have the equivalent of 10,800th/s mining in their data center to give out to customers....

My biggest problem with this update is that KnC still gives no expected time to completion for Neptunes! What about Plan B???  When I purchased my first neptune it was estimated for Q1 or Q2.... That's a pretty wide time frame.

In the US don't forget there is a 'transmission charge' also.  Here in the wonderful state of NJ, it is $0.12 Kwh.  Now add the $0.067 transmission charge for a marvelous total of $0.187 Kwh. 

Most of the 'alternative' electric companies fail to mention that you are still going to get charged for transmission.  So the guys that are offering $0.10 Kwh, your final cost is $0.167. 

Lets see: 750 Watt 400Gh/s miner - from .187 to .167 yields a savings of $131 per year; and from .187 to .08 yields a savings of $600 per year, down to $579 per year. 

I did a search for Russian electric costs, found a .pdf at academia.edu... $.08 Kwh this year, $.10 Kwh next year and rising $.01-.02 cents each year until 2020.  This is because they are going the deregulation route.

Really, if you are going to use COMED RRTP program, watch that 4pm spike to $.078 Kwh.  Oh to be in Illinois again.

The rates everywhere are high, going to impact ROI in the long term.  In MA i'm paying .14 through a local muncipality, nearby towns are paying .17-.18.

My partner and I found a site where we can get .04 at commercial rates. He's a network specialist so we're working on leasing the space and setting up hosting with it's own pool.  Costs should be significantly less this way.

+1 this idea.  With a vendor specific forum, combined with a rating system on each vendor it would solve alot of these issues.

Inaba and BFL should have been tagged and banned by this forum.  They've been able to keep the spotlight off them by shipping measley quantities to certain people.  Not to mention they are clearly spending money for advertising here.

If you want to cut back on the bad chatter, then the forum should have a set of standards it adheres too.
