Re: CryptoVest Physical Litecoins

Let me know if you have any trouble converting keys or redeeming coins. So far... (knock on wood), I have been able to solve all issues for anyone that has contacted me privately about having issues redeeming CryptoVest coins.

The only known issue (which is pretty much a non-issue, just an inconvenience) thus far has to do with the font I used to print the private key inserts. It is sometimes challenging to distinguish which character the private key is due to similarities in the font and the small font size. If you are having trouble redeeming a private key and you are sure you are doing it correctly, then try looking for characters that may look alike, such as: 8 and B, k and K, or 1 and I.

In one instance, someone was having trouble redeeming a CryptoVest coin, and after giving the usual directions of how to redeem them and it still not working, I then asked them to send me a picture of the coin insert. After a lot of trial and error switching out lowercase characters for uppercase etc, I finally figured out that the lower case k looked like an uppercase K. After switching it out I was able to redeem the value, which I forwarded on to the coin's owner (+ a Litecoin for bringing it to my attention).

As of today this remains to be the only known issue that I've identified regarding the coins that I made, and it's an easy fix.

I've had absolutely zero notifications of anyone having their private keys compromised, of any counterfeit coins, or any other major issues. I hope and pray that this will continue to remain true for eternity, but please feel free to come forward (publicly or privately) if anything happens to your keys, or if you see anything suspicious. I would like to be alerted, and to alert the community. Thanks!

Good afternoon,

Long time no post! I feel like I must have communicated this at some point in the past, but I feel the need to do it again as more and more time passes and I see random businesses, websites, communities and even hackers use the term "CryptoVest".

I'd like to be clear that I have no association with any of these entities, and have not done anything with CryptoVest since I released these physical Litecoins. Although this venture still holds a special place in my heart, to be honest I seriously doubt that I ever will use it again or make any coins in the future.

There's one other thing regarding the coins themselves that I'd like to share. I still hold about 100 special edition coins which I opted not to sell, but I never made certificates of authenticity for these coins because at the time I was exhausted from assembling all of the coins that I sold. This slipped my mind when I destroyed the hard drive which stored these CoAs long ago, and I no longer have the ability to make them using existing design files, nor the desire the desire to re-create the design files in order to make them.

IE. There are about a 100 special edition coins without Certificates of Authenticity which are still in my possession. I'm not sure when or if I'll ever sell these, but I wanted it to be known that they do exist and are legit despite having no CoA. In my opinion, I think the act of me selling them, or passing them down to my heirs, should be sufficient enough as proof of authenticity. It would be very hard for me to create counterfeit coins as I don't have the expertise necessary nor the design files, and I feel like my actions in this community speaks for itself as far as my trustworthiness and character.

Thanks and I hope this update finds ya'll well!

Be good,

William

Negative trust removed.

I'm sorry to necro this thread, but I wanted to say thank you for this Smoothie! I hope you are doing well, and that you and your family are far away from the recent incident around Lahaina. Smiley

$1100 is pretty pricey for 48 ports.  I spent $360 getting enough ports for 61 miners and I've got plenty of ports to spare.  But I guess your setup is a bit cleaner.

He said in another thread he got it used for pretty cheap.

Which PDUs are those Coinhorder? I have been looking for something similar.

It's an APC AP9571

It can be had on Ebay used for as low as $20

It's definitely one of the most affordable PDUs around, and I've been using them for about a year now with no problems.

I can see where you LTC coin project money went to with the 7 avalons lolz  Cheesy

No, I only own a small percentage of them. I bought them in a group buy.

Fan-cooled PDU's. Love it.

Well.. the purpose of that fan is to move the heat coming out of the exhaust of the Avalons up and away from them. But I suppose it does cool down the PDUs aswell.  Cool

I'm currently designing a rack mountable avalon system, gonna have 92 total hash units, ~9000 chips worth. It's gonna be sick Cheesy

Nice!

If you're building a large rig and you DON"T have a bag of at least 1,000 zipties, you're doing it wrong.

So true lol. I keep a stock pile of Zip ties around in case I get in the mood to do a little rearranging/house cleaning. I think every GPU in my farm has at least 2-3 zip ties each in some shape, form, or fashion.

Those are some sexy hubs. Shame they are not available where I live. How much did you pay for them?

Thanks. Smiley

They were about $53 on Amazon. Kind of pricey, but it's the only hub I could find that would run 10.

My latest rig:
- 2000 Kh Litecoin (2 5970s and 1 5850)
- 29 Gh Bitcioin (about 84 ASICMINER Block Erupters)

Already sold half of my Block Erupters pictured above... I only got to mine on most of them for half a day. My fingers still hurt from opening/closing 80+ ASICMINER gift boxes, then taking it out of the bag, then opening the case, then prying the miner out... geeez. Then putting them back together.. don't get me started, I feel sorry for the people in China that assemble the packaging. Cry

Not to mention all the USB COM port conflicts and Windows making me try every which way to hook the USB hubs together until all the sudden in magically worked. I'd suggest only chaining a maximum of 2-3 hubs before starting a new chain straight out of the motherboard/pcie usb expansion ports. I did eventually get all 84 USB miners recognized and mining 330+ Mh each.

I'm going to miss those guys..  Sad Cry

But when I can sell them for $145+ on Ebay a piece and with Bitcoin being down right now in value, I'd be silly not to just sell them now and be happy with that and reinvest back into good ole BTC. Cool

I'm auctioning off 10 miners and an Anker USB hub here on the forums by the way, it ships Friday! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=249179.0

How many GPUs and in what conditions are you mining with that you need that kind of cooling?
It won't be effectively cooling its maximum load for a month or so, but I expect to cool about 11,214 watts of ASICs and GPUs with this based on my research.

I'm not really sure how accurate this number is because there is very little information on the subject, but I plan on adding rigs/ASICs until it can no longer deal with the heat.  Wink

To get this number I used a very safe (IMO) formula of every watt producing 3.21 BTUs

I expect to be able to cool more, especially since there's already a 5000 BTU A/C window unit there.

I'm water cooling 6 5970s using an unique technique.

Two 250cfm fans into two Ice Box heat exchangers with water flowing from my washer hookup back to the drain (my neighborhood splits the water bill  Wink)

It cools down the room quite a bit. You can feel the water inlet tube and it is cold, the water outlet tube is hot like it should be, so that means it's working.  Grin

This setup has been running stable for over a month with no problems.

Random screen shot (Yes, I know two cores were sick/at 0 Kh... I have since fixed/replaced them. Smiley)

What's that? A "portable" AC unit?

Yes sir. Right... hahah "portable".... It weighs almost 500 pounds, good thing it has wheels.

It should spit out about 36,000 BTUs of cool air while dehumidifying at the same time.  Smiley

I almost wish I would have got his bigger brother... the 60,000 BTU unit. But, it was expensive.. I suppose this'll do for now.

Why do you not simply blow the heat outside with your 500cfm?

Because it would exhaust some cool air as well, making my A/C more inefficient.
