Any recommendations for a blockchain receive/send alert app for Android?
by

If I want to know when a particular Bitcoin address sends or receives a payment, is there an Android app that will notify me via an alarm? Preferably one that polls the blockchain at least every 30 seconds to check for a transaction.

I know Blockchain.info offers this...but Blockchain.info has been having major issues recently..I don't feel safe keeping coins with them.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!!

Bitcoin for Android wallet - 10 confirmations and no coins..

Sent coins to Bitcoin for Android wallet.

It now has 10 confirmations.

Nothing showed up.

Restarted app. Nothing. Restarted phone. Nothing. Backed up wallet and delete app/data, then reinstalled app and restored wallet from file. Nothing.

Coins haven't moved on Blockchain.

I stopped recommending Mycelium to people because of their node issues...and I started recommending Bitcoin for Android. Now this is causing issues.

Getting really old dealing with wallets that don't function as they should.

I have paper wallets in my safety deposit box.

I have some in a coinbase account.

I have some in a blockchain.info hot wallet.

WHYYYYYYYYYYY?

A safety deposit box is the same as a bank account. You don't control it..the bank ultimately does.

Coinbase? Why not just keep your money with Paypal?

Blockchain.info hot wallet? WHYYYYYYYYYY?

Mycelium phone wallet for day-to-day purchases. Trezor for long term, but accessible. Paper wallets printed securely and stored somewhere OTHER THAN A BANK FOR GOD'S SAKE for long-long term.

I am amazed by the lack of foresight in some people. No offense.

Vulnerabilities have kept showing up for it. Let's be honest, it's not safe. But it's probably better than some of the other options.

Wow...shill much?

Buy bitcoin on Monday, get told I'll receive bitcoin Friday.

Cool, so if the money's in my bank account Wednesday I'm good right

Nope, $34 fee because the money wasn't in my account four days before I'd receive the bitcoin.

Hey coinbase, why don't you take your noses out of the governments asshole for a minute and realize tattle-telling on what people do with their BTC, charging bullshit fees like this, is only going to fuck you over in the end?

You already have a shit reputation for sucking all that government cock, all it's going to take is one single decent competitor to put you assholes out of business.

p.s. your logo sucks cock, muh minimalism, muh facebook.  No self-respecting bitcoiner has any respect for you cunts.

Dood, you essentially bounced a check. How can you be mad at COINBASE? That's just retarded.

If you had made a credit card purchase Monday with a maxed out credit card that you KNEW had $0 available credit, would you be mad at the credit card company for charging you an over-the-limit fee? After all, the thing you ordered on Amazon wouldn't arrive until FRIDAY!

Circle and Coinbase are the same goddamn thing...people need to stop acting like one is better than the other. Same policies, same cost. (No, Circle is not "free")

I hate centralized exchanges too...but they are a necessary on-ramp to get regular people into BTC. They have all kinds of dumb regulation to comply with or THEY ALL GO TO JAIL.

So sick of reading angry adolescent, "I know it all", teenage-angst bullshit on this forum. Honestly, just shut the fuck up.

People need to stop posting this guys photo like this.

1.) I see a distraught man...because, well...that's what the camera man is telling me to see.

2.) Is he distraught because of the economic situation? Because he waited in line for the ATM all morning and was next when it ran out of money? Because his tummy hurts?

The point is, nobody has any idea why this guy is sitting on the ground like an upset child. In New York City I see this shit every day...and there's no bank crisis here...yet.

Even more so than this...how about having some fucking DECENCY people? Why in the FUCK would anyone want to take a photo of someone elses misery and continually post it on the internet for everyone to see? Whatever the reason for the upset?

I'll tell you why...to prove your "point". To cause shock and awe. To fill an agenda or promote an idea.

I have an idea OP: Get some fucking class.

Greeks are not rushing to Bitcoin.

Even a 10x increase in Google searches in Greece amounts to just about nothing.

The people that were smart and withdrew their Euros before recently will only be able to buy Bitcoin from LocalBitcoins. (The capital controls/bank closings ensure this.) Yeah, Coinbase exists in Greece...but good luck using it with the capital controls.

Unless they need to get money out of the country, there is little value in buying Bitcoin for the average Greek. They are still holding Euros, which unlike the situation in Argentina, still have value outside of the country.

The psychology of all of this is what's driving the recent slight price increase. At the end of the day, psychology is what moves markets.

Looking to purchase large amount of BTC monthly for growing my ATM network..
by
CoinUser123
on 26/06/2015, 00:31:47 UTC
I don't talk much on this forum anymore...mainly because trolling has become the rule rather than the exception.

Not that this is relevant to what I am asking here. But my lack of posts and account age is going to garner some skepticism, I'm sure.

In any event, here's my request:

I own a quickly growing network of Bitcoin ATMs in my city. (United States) My volume is increasing month-over-month and I am looking for ways to minimize costs (and risks) associated with dealing with exchanges to replenish my BTC holdings as I serve my customers.

I am looking for someone that is interested in selling coins at 1-2% under Stamp, on a recurring monthly basis. At the present, I will need about $50,000 USD per month worth of BTC.

No, I don't want you to send first. Yes, we will need to meet in real life. Yes, attorneys and contracts will be involved. No, I'm not some Russian wanting to pay you with Google Wallet or Venmo. This is a legitimate request. You are more than welcome (actually required) to meet with me and verify everything I am stating here.

I'm not certain this post will result in anything of substance given the state of affairs on this site as of late. But if you, or someone you know, may be interested in this sort of arrangement...send me a PM with your phone number and name to discuss things further.

Thanks.

Re: I was stolen 100+ BTC, don't know what to do - please help

Well...did you steal them? Like, honestly?

Whether you did or didn't is irrelevant. BTC-e has no authority to make this sort of determination on any basis, moral or legal. Particularly because they are in violation of so many KYC/AML/BSA policies themselves.

A word of caution to anybody still using BTC-e: You are fools. This exchange will be down and your coins will be lost inside of 2 years. Move them while you still can.

U.S. Justice Department indictments and forfeitures are coming...wait and see.

Blockchain.info - mnemonic seed only good to recover accounts on their website?
by
CoinUser123
on 13/06/2015, 23:36:27 UTC
I am trying to recover my Blockchain.info account.

I have the identifier. I have the password. I have the mnemonic seed given to me when I originally made the account.

Problem is, I enabled API IP whitelisting to an address that I no longer have access to. I have attempted to use the recovery seed in Electrum (not compatible), Mycelium (not compatible), and Blockchain.info (just gives me the identifier and password that I already have, then tells me my IP address isn't permitted access, because of the IP whitelisting)

What is the point of having a mnemonic recovery seed if it's useless for anything other than recovering on THEIR website?

Can I use this recovery seed anywhere else to recover these coins?

What am I missing here? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
