Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin?
by
Coogan
on 12/04/2016, 08:58:21 UTC
There is nothing 'stopping' people per se but at the end of the day why does the average person want or need to use it currently? It doesn't really benefit them in any way at the moment. It could in the future but not right now. People were also probably wondering the same thing about the internet or mobile phones when they first came out. Why aren't more people using them (at the time)? Because things take time but good ideas get adopted eventually they just take time to catch on with the public.

Re: When is Bitcoins going to die?

When is fiat going to die? I guess it's certainly possible that bitcoin will become redundant in the future but I think at least one form of decentralized currency will always be used even if bitcoin dies off and is replaced by something else as it's obviously needed even if for just use on the black/grey market. Hopefully bitcoin will live forever but if something better comes along it could easily and quickly surpass it.

Re: what you like best in Bitcoin ?
by

The thing I like the most is its independence and it operates outside of the mainstream machine. Nobody can really censor it and for those that are censored by the the powers that be they can circumvent restrictions put in place by them. That's a powerful system and is one reason why I think bitcoin (or something like it) will always have a place even if its never fully adopted by the mainstream.

Re: Bitcoin transaction wont confirm. What should I do?
by
Coogan
on 29/02/2016, 17:01:30 UTC
I have been researching the recommended fees and I guess what I used is half of that. I will be sure to use the standard fee next time, it just sucks that I might have to wait days now.

Do you think at this point it is more likely to eventually confirm, or the transaction be cancelled so I can resend it?

All you can do is wait but you don't need to worry as this is a common mistake people make especially after they here bitcoin is free to send etc. I'm sure you'll remember to include a sufficient fee next time  Grin.

Re: Earning a living with bitcoin?
by

As of now,I can't consider earning a living with bitcoin as I have my main source of incomeand also I have only minimal amount of bitcoin. But, when my purse grow,i will try trading in big volume and possibly earn a living from it.

Making a living from trading simply not possible. In order to rely solely on BTC, you need to have a bit more stable source of income.

you are wrong mate

Exactly. There are many people who make a living from trading bitcoin and even more so of people just trading regular currencies and stocks and shares etc. It's not as easy as people might think but numerous people do it. Personally I trade as more of a casual hobby and and just wait for the big swings to buy and sell but you can do it on a day to day basis with a bigger bankroll if you have the guts for it.

ok then what?
what is the right way to make more bitcoins with my bitcoins?
I dont need to become rich over night but it would be nice to have a direction?

Putting your bitcoins in binary options or cloud mining ponzis or whatever is likely to lose all your coins. Why don't you just hold them as an investment? The block halving is happening later this year and that could have a huge impact on the value. Could double/treble who knows.

Re: What do you consider to be a long term investment.
by
Coogan
on 01/02/2016, 12:32:56 UTC
Personally I consider it a few years. 3-5 years is what I plan to hold for. I think bitcoin does have a very good chance of becoming a very big payment network as an alternative to the mainstream but if so this is going to take time so I think it's worth holding. I think another economic collapse will probably happen in the same time frame so it will be interesting to see what effect that has on bitcoin.

Sadly I think op will be right. Can't see much exciting happening in 2016 but I'm all about long term gain and looking at the price in about 2-3-5 years time. Bitcoin isn't going to go mainstream overnight but the potential is still there but it'll take time.

People have been saying it's going to be the year of bitcoin every year for the past five or so no doubt. Personally I don't care what year it is but we should just concern ourselves with promoting bitcoin usage the best we can and it should come eventually. We might be waiting 2-3-5 years from now and I believe it will be a slow grow into the mainstream but I think we should get there at some point so we just need patience.

Re: How to store an extremely high amount of money in Bitcoin safely ?

I wouldn't store a large amount of coins all in one wallet. Split them up into smaller chunks, write down the seeds of each and keep several back ups. That way you're safe and protected.

Re: General Football Discussion - 2015/16 Season
by
Coogan
on 08/12/2015, 10:59:16 UTC
Leicester have some difficult games ( 2 x liverpool,Everton, Mancity) at the end of the year, guess after that you can see as they will be able to stay in the top4 for the rest of the season

If they can beat those teams then they will surely have every chance of winning the league. The Chelsea and Man city home games will be the test of their strength and if they can win then there's no stopping them. I think they will be more likely to draw like they did with Man U recently.

Manchester City seems the team with the most talents and can last a season, Leicester City most likely will barely be in top 4 at end of the season if they play well.

Not if they lose to shit team like Newcastle.

Re: 2016, The Year of Bitcoin?

Coogan

will not be much different from 2015, it took the shocking news in 2016 that bitcoin prices will rise

how about block halving ?

Yeah but I'm not sure for it, how the effect block halving of the price of bitcoin?
yah really important?

Nobody will know until it happens but less bitcoins that are available should equals a higher price but only if demand outstrips supply.

i think that 2016 will be an important year in Bitcoin life because in which the halving will happened which i hope that will affect the price positively as the supply will decline
I expect the same in Bitcoin. It should reflect next year's price of bitcoin and because of market time and festival time making Bitcoin rate very low nowadays. But I hope this should move and bitcoin's value should go to high price as soon as possible. then only my savings will help me.

I think people are expecting too much from the block halving though it's understandable and gives people some hope. For it to have a significant impact on the price bitcoin needs to have strong demand before it happens so bitcoins become even rarer and therefor pushing the value up.

Re: What are you going to spend your bitcoin on?

Haven't spent any of my coins yet but in the future I will probably buy a new TV, Hi-Fi and computer with them but I'll wait for the price to rise a bit and hopefully by the time they do  will be able to buy all these things with bitcoin directly. I think in the future it will be much more easier to spend your coins than is is now.

Re: Bitcoin as a payment option, especially for the adult and entertainment industry
by
Coogan
on 27/10/2015, 10:16:28 UTC
Look, I will give you just one example. Look at the mess with the Ashley Madison. Imagine if their users had an opportunity to pay in Bitcoin by staying anonymous or even semi-anonymous. I am sure many of them would choose this option.

Bitcoin can have many use cases like this one in the adult and porn industry, meeting and dating websites, etc. And I am sure it will have after the Ashley  hack.

Why is this just limited to adult sites? Using bitcoin could save many people from having their credit or personal details leaked from many other sites. Whenever you use a website you always have to trust them with your details and there's always going to be weak links somewhere and the possibility of hacks or inside jobs.

Re: Non-bitcoin forums discussing bitcoin

It is no wonder that bitcoin forum will discuss bitcoin. But, there are non-bitcoin forum discussing bitcoin. And there are huge amount of misconception being spread.

Well there's nothing new there. The general public are generally quite ignorant on most matters and they only get their news from mainstream media who only really highlight the negative aspects and probably have their own agenda. If they were intelligent and did their own research they wouldn't have such negative opinions.

we can only hope it happen in the next year, I believe this technology will arrive back in its heyday  Grin Grin
but I wish it could happen more quickly at the end of 2015, yeah as in previous years. hopefully this is true Smiley optimistic Cool

If you haven't got patience I think you're going to be dissapointed. The internet didn't become what it is today overnight. It takes years and bitcoin might even take longer to break into the mainstream.

Re: Will I be able to make a living doing only arbitration on OB?
by

I mean arbitration services that people may require in case there is need for a dispute resolution.

You want to escrow on there? I doubt you'd be able to make a living off of it. Are escrows going to get fees because I thought OB was going to be fee-less. Not sure how they choose the escrows either.

we can already see that the fees have went up, im fine with 0.0003 fees per transaction, but I'd much rather have a fixed fee thats always the same no matter how big or small the tx is. If the time comes to $1+ fees, I'll probably stop using bitcoin for everyday transactions and only use it occasionally for $100+ transactions.

I think the fees will have to be adjusted as bitcoin grows to make it profitable/worthwhile for the miners.

Re: if you entered your wallet and you found 50BTC what you will do ?
by
Coogan
on 14/09/2015, 14:56:25 UTC
50 BTC in my wallet is impossible (yet) because I dont know anyone who owes me that much coins and my BTC address is not yet posted anywhere in this forum

Doesn't have to be posted on this forum. Could be posted anywhere online or even if you've spent or recieved money to it it can be found on the blockchain.
