I am still unable to get the beta to download...

I have tried both the full installer and the portable, v1.109.6610.32531, fresh installs and updated, on multiple machines, multiple OS's, and from multiple IP's. Nothing will trigger the beta to download.

Either I am crazy or it is a bug...

@TeamWinMiner
Two quick questions -
First, should we continue to send you error reports of the idle issue or do you have enough data already? On two of my 1070 systems I could send you new reports literally 10 or more times each day (since that is about how often it happens on those systems) but I don't know if that would be helpful or just pester you.
2nd, is there a way or a link to grab the most recent beta? Lately just checking "allow beta" in the options doesn't seem to trigger it for me, but I like to keep a current beta copy handy for testing.
Thanks!
We have analyzed the logs you have sent and responded to you on Feb 13. Will ask support to resend the email to you again. Take a look, try the suggested actions and let us know if issue is resolved.
Re the beta checkbox - we will check this, since it should auto update beta versions when the checkbox is selected. In the meantime, if you check the beta testers box, then fully exit WinMiner and run it again it should definitely fetch the latest beta.

Support's suggestion wasn't the issue, so I just send them a detailed reply.

And I have tried that checkbox of course, on multiple systems, two OS's, with both fresh WinMiner installs and ones that have been running for a while. Nothing will trigger the beta download for me. Perhaps this is another issue only with the portable version? It is all I use.

Users of Nvidia cards use your service is meaningless. I start mining at 1080ti, and I include the ETN with a return of about $ 1.5

Give it a bit more time. During the benchmarking stage it will sometimes pick incorrect coins to mine. It will "learn" by trial and error.  Let it run for at least a full day or two, then see what it reports.

The GPU issue happened to me even with the Setup version and Manual mode on.
Restarting the PC seems to at least stop the GPU if you uncheck the GPUs before it has the chance to start mining. The CPU doesn't seem to have problems but the GPUs just benchmarks a bit and then will stay on "idle" even though I can hear and feel it running.
Hope to at least hear from the team that they're addressing the issue, but hopefully they're collecting the data from our logs to solve this.
I found a similar issue although not related to WinMiner, I think? Mostly an issue with the miner. I decided to mine Ethereum Classic on my desktop computer with a RX 570 and 2 1060 3GB, but while the RX 570 mined Ethereum Classic just fine, the 1060 3GB GPUs didnt, WinMiner even downloaded several miners but eventually gave up and the GPUs remained actually idle, without mining.

Is it because of the amount of memory of my 1060 3GB cards? I wonder

Although I did see the same problem you are describing with earlier versions, I have not seen it happen to me with 1.109 yet. However I don't think the AI that decides if a card is appropriate to use with a particular miner or not is fully tweaked yet... I still see WinMiner try to mine with some very unsuitable cards, like a GeForce 8400 GS or even integrated nVidia chipset video. I'm sure they will get it perfected once they gather enough feedback.

I had been working with support on two annoying issues. Specifically:

 - the one where WinMiner would suddenly "forget" all its settings and need to be setup again with email address, etc.

 - the idle issue, where the GPU would just switch to idle for no apparent reason, and stay that way until the machine was rebooted and WinMiner restarted.

At first support was very prompt, receptive, and seemed genuinely interested in fixing the issues. However I now haven't heard back from them in a week after sending multiple log files showing the problem. I'm starting to think they are ghosting me, or are just unwilling or unable to fix them. I need to decide if I want to stick it out, or just move along to Nicehash...

I'd appreciate it if anyone else can confirm if they are also seeing these issues with v1.109? I'd really like to know if it is common or just me. Thanks!

the iddle issue is very very easy to fix. Just use Manual mode and Start and Stop WinMiner whenever you want. Then you also have Farm Mode, but maybe that's not what you want.

In regards to WinMiner forgetting all of its settings, that's because you are using the Portable version, most probably. It happened to me when I used the Portable version, but never ever using the installed version.

Best regards!

Thanks for the info about portable mode. I will try the full version on one of my machines to see if that fixes it.

As far as the idle issue, starting and stopping doesn't solve the problem. If I start my machine, then don't check on it until the next day, it is very frustrating to discover that it decided to stop mining on its own 15 minutes later and I lost 23 hours 45 minutes of mining time. Much worse, as another poster mentioned earlier, is that the GPU is often still cranking away full speed and using my electricity while WinMiner reports it is "idle" and earning zero.

Hi, first time posting here. Just wanted to ask if the email I sent to support the other day was received regarding the error report of UI and GPU usage.
My GPU seems to still be in use and temp doesn't go down even if Winminer says it's on Idle.
Here's the Incident ID: ec26bb76-9eb5-4d42-ad59-9dd92e243e5c

I can't tell you if WinMiner got your email, but I can tell you that they are aware of this problem because I have been pestering them about the same thing for a couple weeks now. I am hoping it gets resolved soon, but I have not heard back from them recently. Either they are working hard on it or they are ignoring me :-)

Just got a new 1080 card for gaming, but since it is was so overpriced I thought I'd mine a bit to make it "cheaper". But on winminer I can only get around 1,7 dollars a day(Barely more than my old 7950). While on nicehash I get 2,7. Ver sayd, because I would prefer to use winminer over nicehash.

Be careful as I have found both Nicehash and Minergate to be overly optimistic with their predicted payouts and profitability calculators. WinMiner's live dashboard has been the most accurate at showing actual payouts for me.

Also, I mine for cash, not coins. There is a huge value to me in being paid (via PayPal option) in USD, rather than going through the hassle of selling coins on an exchange. Consider your own end goal when picking out a miner.

Has anyone recently compared WinMiner with (the revived) Nicehash in terms of performance / yield?

For yield, no. Not in awhile.

For performance, I can tell you out of Nicehash, Winminer, & Minergate that Winminer is currently the least stable. Let me be clear that Winminer is my favorite of the 3, but it is unfortunately very buggy.

I use Minergate on some of my low end systems with AMD GPU's since it is the most productive with those setups. Many people say that Minergate "steals" hashrate from you. I don't know if they are, but it is more productive than Nicehash or Winminer on those particular machines because it uses the GPU that they won't. I can say that Minergate by far is the most stable software though. I have machines that have run Minergate for weeks without a single reboot or crash. Actually I don't think I've seen Minergate crash EVER, and remember I only use it on my most crappy hardware.

I use Nicehash on my more powerful machines that I can't babysit daily. It seems to produce about the same as Winminer after all is said and done, but I have not done a thorough test. But anecdotally I can say they are very close. Like I said I only use it on machines that I can't get to everyday, and it does crash now and then. But it picks up where it left off after a reboot, so I can "set it and forget it" and generally not lose more than 12 hours, even after a crash.

As for Winminer, it is my favorite and I am behind them 100%, but man oh man the bugs are frustrating. Across about 30 machines that are about as diverse as they can be Winminer crashes ALLOT. On many of my machines it crashes multiple times daily. And something in the last 4 or 5 updates (that all came out in the last two days) is really messing up my 1070 and 1080 machines. 2 or 3 now won't GPU mine at all since they get an "ethminer has stopped working" crash over and over again. Much worse is that after after a crash, Winminer often "forgets" all its settings, so even if I have it set to autorun after a reboot, it won't start mining until I re-enter all the setup details. I lost *days* of mining on some of my machines due to this, which is why I had to go back to Nicehash with them. I've seen several other people complain about this same issue on various forums so I am sure their support is aware of it.

Again, Winminer is my favorite, even with the bugs, and I expect they will all get sorted sooner or later.

@TeamWinMiner

I know you guys are swamped. Trying not to pester support, but really would like some clarification on the payout fees.

I withdrew $150 the other day. PayPal fees were 7.27, and your fees were 4.50.

I'm not complaining about the fees, but I want to understand them. I'm assuming the PayPal fee a percentage, but is it the same percentage regardless of the amount transferred? Same question about your fees. Is it a flat 4.50 no matter how much is transferred, or is a percentage as well?

Please explain, or point me to where this is posted.

Thank you!
from personal experience withdrawing 20$ a week ago just to check how it worked, the Paypal fee seems to be linear because they charged me 0.97$ (0.97x7.5=7.27, your fee), and the Winminer fee is 3%, also linear. I paid 0.6$ when I withdrawed 20$ and you paid 4.50 (150x3%=4.50).

Thank you for the info. So we're looking at just under 8% to withdraw via PayPal. Hurts, but I guess it is just part of the game.

Personally I am hoping for some larger Amazon gift card options since the percentage will likely be less, and Amazon gift cards are as good as cash around my house...

(Currently it looks like $20 cards with a $1 fee are all that is offered. I know that is 5%, but it actually ends up being 10% for me. See, everything I buy at Amazon I normally purchase with their 5% cash back credit card. If I shop with a gift card that cost me 5% to acquire I also lose that 5% discount. Hence, for me the Amazon option effectively costs me 10%, so I'll stick with PayPal until better options present themselves.)

Thanks again.

@TeamWinMiner

I'm liking your software very much so far. Looking forward to watching it mature, and being a part of your growth.

Question about the Amazon gift card payout option... It seems that $20 (with a $1 fee) is currently your only choice. Will you ever offer more?

It looks to me currently that if I wanted $300 worth of Amazon cards, I would need to purchase 15 separate cards and pay $15 in fees. A bit much. Would be nice to see higher options, or a (more reasonable) flat fee for larger purchases.

P.S. I actually read every page of this thread to get myself up to speed once I discovered your software. Please ignore the whiners who don't understand that your software is barely out of beta, and the ones who expected you to miraculously scale up your operations 10x overnight after the NiceHash hack. Those of us out here who recognize good work appreciate what you have done, and can see that you are on your way to greatness.

Thanks, sincerely, and keep up the great work!
