Re: New Bitcoin ARG, The legend begins here.... 4.33 BTC BOUNTY!!!

I'm giving an summary of what happened on irc:

The username/password to http://www.whit3r4bbi7.com/ is Kevin_Flynn Games?_You_want_games?_I'll_give_you_games... This password was found by mere_dust.

Behind the password prompt is an video, the video features abstract graphics and white noise in the background. There is also some text. User frisco82 created an pastebin with the contents here: http://pastebin.com/Mu3db8rd

The background of the video features an face around the 8 seconds mark. I've found out that that is this image of Ramses II: http://static.wixstatic.com/media/162cdd_3eda62a884954c019bb9dd62119bd6dd.jpg_srz_500_723_85_22_0.50_1.20_0.00_jpg_srz

Finally, user itod found out that if you access the whit3r4bbi7 site on any page other than the home page (such as http://www.whit3r4bbi7.com/foobar) you get to see the hash f8bf41177a5f5e808a7ccb648b51080b031f15ca8018d91a576263d6cc626eb6. This (seemingly sha256) hash is featured on multiple virus scan sites (google it). edit: frisco82 also found this hash a few hours before itod.

New clues: a new poem, an image of ramses II, an SHA256 hash, an overuse of ROT encryption.

I'm worried about sniping, just not at this point in the game. I'd expect it takes at least one more week before the first private key is in sight.

I've tried the barcode approach for about an hour, but haven't found anything that resembles barcode start/stop markers at the correct distance.

The image also appears quite wide for an bar code.

If you look closely the image also has some blue and purple in it. Perhaps that is part of the solution. edit: that's probably jpeg artifacts...

Can we at least get an png version of the image? Wink

Rabbit does use a salt (= IV?), and a key. Both of which have to be exactly 16 bytes, otherwise it will insert apparently random data.

Unfortunately my javascipt is pretty rusty. Perhaps later in this ARG i can dust of wabbitemu and code some assembly Wink

that we should remove some bits.
Perhaps '347' has something to do with this?

Good idea. It could be the the 'false satoshi' is actually an false bit. I've tried dropping the first bit of the data but no success.

I can at least verify that the padding does not contain a vigenere cipher with either 'rabbit', 'axiom', 'cipher' or 'white' as keyword with either 5, 6, 7 or 8-length bytes.

If anyone else wants to play with it here is the binary data hidden in the padding:

1010010101000000100000000100001000000010000000100010000100001011001000010000010 1000010101001000000010000010000010001000100100000000010000001000010100000001000 0000000000010001100001000000100000010000000010010010000010000001000100010011000 0000100000001000010000001010001000000010000100010100000100000001000010010000001 0000001000100000010000000110001000000010001000010000110000000010110000100000010 0110001000100000000100000010000100000001000000010000010000001010000001000000010 0001100000000000001000000100000100000001000000100000001000100000000010010000011 0000100000100000001000101000000100100010000000100011100000001001011000000100000 0100000001000000100010000100000001010000000000000100000100000001011000001100001 00000001000010000100100001000010000001000000010001

The binary data does not include the spaces that are part of the message. Tabs=1 spaces=0.

I guess there's a moorse code hidden in there somewhere.

The message and the weird padding wasn't that hard to find on my own, but i'm stuck what the padding means. It could be a cipher for something, and CRYPTO being it's key. That would explain the 'false satoshi' and 'white noise' part of the message.

What we think of that? Ehh. Seems pretty clear. 0.5% fees to put your coins in an untrusted third-party wallet.

Perhaps if they offered 1% interest par day, it would be worth the risk to use their service.

When someone mine a coin is because he/she thinks its price will rise in the future.

When i was still mining, i was mining whatever shitcoin was the most profitable according to a dozen scripts i wrote for this purpose. there are a few exceptions.

I hope nobody is going to touch cryptorush with a 10 foot pole after this: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/21ejkh/scam_exchange_cryptorush_implodes_with_epic_drama/

There are a lot of exchanges to choose from, and at this point cryptorush has about the same reputation as mt. gox. Oh.. we have been hacked. Better not tell anyone.

BTW, we only reached #2 on bter because the coin at #1 was removed from the list, probably because it will be added soon.

That looks good, but there are too many different shades of orange on the page.

The login button is light orange, rediquette is red-orange, and i think that the voting buttons have a different color of orange. Shouldn't that be all the same color?
Thanks for your reply!

Yes, it's just a "beta" jaja I'm modifying that details and full version is going to be available soon, this is just a preview to know if you like more or less this type of design  Wink
I'm going to modify some colors to be the same but others are going to have a little change... maybe soft-orange with a kind of red... idk haha

But, imao it's going to be a great design for PTC subreddit  Cheesy
I like the deep orange color on the last screenshot.

are from you all the votes?

I've stopped keeping track now, but a few hours ago the total amount of PTC votes was 351, of which 348 where mine. So.. yeah.
Hi darkstone2. Reading your comments I was wondering what's your implication with the PTC.

Do you have any insight into this coin?, do you own only a bunch of them, or a huge pot.
Any other cryptos?

I own about 25k PTC. I mined about half of them, brought the other half during the cryptorush downfall. Why PTC? At the time i was still interested in mining, PTC was the only coin i've tried that had a decent launch.

Then i discovered trading bots and figured out that managing my mining rig is a total waste of time. PTC (and BTC) is the only coin that i actively own, my other altcoins are 100% managed by bots. I don't even know how many different altcoins i have.

I wasn't joking about those 'few hundred votes' Wink

I have been running bots on bter for months, that gives me some voting power. It also proves how incredibly sad this voting system is.

Slight update. I think that this is.. not going to happen. For multiple reasons, including taxes, time spent on customers that could've been better spent on a job, and our doubts to gain profits and keep all customers happy at the same time. Mostly the last one.

Our bot is still making nice profits, perhaps in a year or so i will re-visit this decision.
