Re: ATM Bitcoin Operator - Bitcoin Depot data breach
by
Dave1
on 11/07/2025, 23:43:29 UTC
The breach happened in the middle of 2024 and they only let customers know in the middle of 2025?

I also don't see how anyone could trust their statement of that they "are not aware" of any misuse of the breached information, or any situations that may have arisen as a result (since no one knew about the situation except for the company since 2024. A lot of damage can be done with a drivers license number and all of the other personal details leaked.

Another lesson not to trust intermediaries. I'm not sure why people use Bitcoin ATM's since they charge exorbitant fees of 5 - 20%+, though I suppose here's another reason not to use them :

According to the email they sent,

Quote
Unfortunately, we were not able to inform you sooner due to an ongoing investigation. Federal law enforcement requested that Bitcoin Depot wait to provide you notice until after they completed the investigation. Law enforcement advised Bitcoin Depot on June 13, 2025, that their investigation was complete.

So it took the FBI a year to finished and conclude their investigation.

What's scary though is the number of individuals that are affected: 26,732

And the obvious data that they got:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Email address

on 11/07/2025, 06:37:33 UTC
Hi everyone,

This is my second day on Bitcointalk.
there is surely no need to keep creating thread everyday you come to the forum, because i see that you just created one recently. the forum is a free place of learning, with time you will get to know all what you needed. i think some useful link has been provided, and i think it will be useful for to you. apart from that, you will need to still navigate the forum to get some important and useful information to grow in knowledge.

Yeah, he should really explore the forum now. He has been given a lot of links to look and study them, so by now he might have a idea on how to navigate in this community and what boards he might be really interested.

And just like most of us here, in the beginning, there is a information overload. Nevertheless if we really wanted to learn from here then no one can stop up by reading a lot of threads in our free time and ask question and then contribute as well.

So goodluck OP, hope that you will stay here in our community.

Re: PUMPfun token PUMP presale, your view..
by
Dave1
on 11/07/2025, 05:12:13 UTC
I'm having mixed feelings about this especially their Team allocation and total supply.. what do you think of this token? Could it be the SOL of memecoins?.
Let's leave its performance to be determined by the hand of time but for the main time, anybody that is interested in the project should only invest the amount they can afford to lose. What many projects has done in the past has thought a lot of us a hard lesson that can be difficult to forget. Many projects sold their coins to investors at a very high amount and they listed the coin in the public market at a very low price, with such behavior, what is the essence of buying during presale? That's why you need to invest with the amount that won't crash your future if the investment doesn't go good.

Yes, just invest what you can afford to lose. I haven't heard about this meme coin but if it is true that it's pumping, then good for those who have bought during pre-sale. Perhaps those who are into this game from the beginning, they can smell from afar which meme coins are  going to take off and then sale and making that huge profits.

And then go on the next hype, nothing wrong's with it, except that it's not for everyone. So only time can tell if it will be the next crazy hype. As for me, I wouldn't go and buy it. I don't know, but maybe I'm late and afraid that once you buy, the price might do down hard and then the only way to get out is to exit at a lost.

Re: 2025 NBA Season
by
Dave1
on 11/07/2025, 02:15:40 UTC
Oh my God…

The Oklahoma City Thunder just gave Jalen Williams a five-year max rookie extension that could reach $287,000,000. This puts their “big 3” under contract for $822,000,000 over the next five years. This has got to be the absolute worst use of money I’ve ever seen in the NBA. I get that they just won a championship, but for that amount of money all three of them better end up in the GOAT conversation.

Who knows, maybe they are thinking big for the three of them that will dominate the league in the next 5 years. Remember that previously, they have the best record but just feel short because they lack the experience.

But in this season, they are very different, stomping teams with double digit lead, got the best record and then won the championship. It's also a trifecta for SGA, so OKC knows that they will need to keep them to be able to win and so they are willing to give them that huge payday.

I guess money is not a concern, every year the salary of the player increases.

Re: AI for sports prediction.
by
Dave1
on 11/07/2025, 00:38:23 UTC
And AI won't be able to spot all this things out, and that is why if you know about a particular sport very well you will win more than you lose gambling on that sport.
I have a crazy theory that AI may be able to predict some lives events especially those that are on the Polymarket. Since the poly market uses mostly human sentiments some AI models like Grok may help in this regard.

I haven't tried it but, Grok is one of the most mentioned AI on  X and that is where a lot of conversations are being carried out on various trending topics which are also on the Polymarket and other prediction sites.

But AI for sports prediction is a growing area. Still we can't be at the casino in this. They will always be ahead.

There could be some exploration as well for even a average sports fan to used AI as they are readily available to us to us. Although it needs more improvement I guess, but if they can process more data than us, then definitely they will have the advantage.

I still remember though, AI vs human in a chess match before, and so we have advance after that in decades. Now AI is everywhere, not just in sports betting, but others might have been using it in various ways and to take advantage of it. Kinda scary right now, but let's see if someone will used.

The Oklahoma City Thunder signed Chet Holmgren for 5 years and 250 million dollars max.
It's really unbelievable money. I still don't understand how they pay these money to these players. I don't think he deserves this contract.
Let's see how long we will see such big contracts.

Business. If they manage to win back to back championships with that lineup then it's definitely worth it. There are so many ways an NBA team/franchise can earn that money back for their organization. You can simply Google or ask any AI like ChatGPT how they're able to afford paying players that much or ask why they’re willing to pay that such amount.

But to answer your question simply: it's because owning an NBA franchise is a business.

And for me Chet Holmgren really deserves that contract. Chet Holmgren > Wemby.

And during their fight for the rookie of the year, I thought that Chet has some edge on him. Nevertheless, Wemby is their favorite to I guess that's it. But then Chet is happy with it and just improved his game thru last seasons and although they didn't make it to the finals, but this season was different, they lead the NBA again and then finally won their first ring together.

So maybe there will be some critics that will same that Chet doesn't deserved that huge contract, but then again, who would? We've seen Booker's contract that is so huge, but did he bring a championship in Phoenix? Despite having KD or even CP3 before. Yes, they go into the finals against the Bucks, but after that, when the management didn't sign Ayton then they didn't replicate their success.

Re: [Boxing] Mario Barrios vs Manny Pacquiao WBC Welterweight Title - July 19
by
Dave1
on 10/07/2025, 08:11:40 UTC
Two weeks more to go and we will see if Manny still has it to defeat a young boxer in Barrios. So far no movement in the betting odds, Barrios is still the heavy favorites to win this fight.

Yes, nothing’s really changed and probably won’t.. Pacquiao is already way past his prime, and Barrios is the defending champ. But for fun, I’d still take that 3.2 odds on Pacman. I’m just hoping more betting markets open up for this fight, like knockout by round range. I’m really curious what the odds would be for a Pacman KO between rounds 1-3. I’d definitely consider that too once it’s available.

That's an interesting bet. Considering that Manny has only knocked out 2 opponents for the last 16 years and the last one happened against Matthysse back in 2018, which was 7 years ago, I think the odds you'd get for that bet would be 9.00 or 10.00, or probably even as high as 12.00. But it isn't impossible, so if you're betting for fun that must be a nice risk to take with a $5 or $10 bet.

I'm just considering Manny by UD. Even this is a high-risk bet.

And also considering that Manny when he moves up losses his knockout ability until that Matthysse fight, then maybe the odd makes are trapping us with that huge odds for a KO? Good discussion though as we will be having fight week already and so some of us might have been contemplating on what will be the best course of action for a good bet.

But for me same, I will also consider Manny by UD. But let's see, maybe most of us might also goes to that bet and so it might trim down leading to the fight. As long though as we can make more than double our money with that beat then it's good.

Re: Is Bitcoin just for the rich?
by
Dave1
on 10/07/2025, 07:36:49 UTC
Someone said that Bitcoin is for the rich, but that's not completely true. It might feel like Bitcoin is for the rich due to the media focuses on celebrities and billionaires buying and benefiting from Bitcoin. This creates a perception that Bitcoin is a rich person's asset. Even during network congestion, fees can spike making small transactions very expensive. But let's not forget that Bitcoin is neutral, it can empower the rich or help lift the poor, it actually depends on how communities adopt it. So understand that Bitcoin is for everyone, you can buy tiny fractions, not until you afford a whole Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is for everyone, who has enough money to buy some. There are no such things as a "rich person's asset" or "poor person's asset".
The media always focuses on celebrities and rich people. This is what drives attentions, clicks and views. Do you want the media to focus 100% on poor people?
The BTC blockchain being temporarily congested every once in a while has nothing to do with rich people and poor people. It's all about supply and demand. I also want the blockchain to handle a bigger amount of transactions and the fees to be lower, but the scaling debate is pretty much over and BTC won't be hardforked.

But in the beginning, everyone can own cheap Bitcoin, but not everyone knows what the potential of it. That's why we will see a lot of early birds from 2009-2011 that might have regretted their decision to get out of the market early.

Because we all know that after that, the halvings from 2016 was the biggest start of Bitcoin as it went as high as $20k. Now, it's no longer cheap and maybe it could be just for the rich. But for us, mere average investors, it might take some time to really accumulate it and it's going to be a hard grind.

It's a close votes between early exposure to it or social influence. And just like in my case as I have explained, I was exposed to it early just like the majority here. For the social influence, I guess we as humans can easily be influence from what we seen in tv or in the internet and it pique our curiosity.

Surprising vote on the peer pressure, does it mean that we are really into gambling already before we found out our friends?

I’ve heard the Philippines has a pretty harsh legal system so I don’t find this all that surprising. However, it is never a good thing when people are murdered, especially by the government. What they were doing was wrong and animal abuse is not cool so I can’t say I’m too broken up about it but two wrongs don’t make a right.

I wouldn't say that they have a harsh legal system, on the contrary with all the corruptions in the Philippines, justice could have been delayed and so it means it's been denied specially if the victims here doesn't have a lawyer to pay to defend or pursue the guilty party.

As for the animal abuse, it's hard to argue, but it seems that the Philippines is one of those country that allowed cock fighting ever since as it is one of their past time specially in the province. And it has grow so much that this Atong Ang was able to make it online and that's why this people has been kidnapped and killed because they might have been stealing from this criminals syndicate.

Dwight Howard’s new wife of 6 months has filed for divorce from him. She’s seeking 50% of all his assets and spousal support…. after six months… It will be interesting to see what she ends up with. If Dwight Howard didn’t have any sort of prenup it is possible that he just lost half his fortune for 6 months with a woman. Wild.

It’s dumb for him if he didn’t have a prenup considering that he marry his wife recently. NBA star should learn to protect their own asset that they earned without this woman on their life.

There’s a lot of gold digger clinging on NBA players so prenup should be a must since the woman shouldn’t have problem on it if she really love Dwight because financial support is obligated by the law.

I wonder what will the court solition to this obvious gold digging.

I hope that NBA players will learn on this, They need Prenup to those girl they met when they have money.
Those girls can leave them, ANd disaster will follow. Protecting your money is not a bad thing even to your wife when you had it when they were not around or with you.

Not just this, I want to add those porn star and girls for sex just like what happend to Z. beware and takecare.

It seems to me that not only NBA players fall into the hooks of such women scammers, but also many other famous personalities. Maybe the marriage contract is effective in this regard, but it would be better if there were a law establishing responsibility for those who hunt for money in this way.

Not siding to anyone, but it seems that Dwight Howard has falling for the trick of this gold digger. And he should have known better, I mean he is a famous sports athletes and so they will be the target of this kind of women.

Maybe he was blinded and thinks that she is the one. But the women should have other plans. And perhaps this was really the plan after all, now Dwight might have to lose a lot of money with the divorce and the woman getting half of his hard earn money.

No problem with that. I don't mind spending some small money to bet on the ridiculous things for fun. As long as that is for fun and fill my free time, that will still give me the fun. But that ridiculous things may not available in many sportsbet so we can not bet on that.

Yes, if it is for fun, then we should go with it and who knows, maybe it will pay off. And even if you loses, then you don't mind as you might have bet a little and again, for entertainment purposes only.

That is not crazy to bet because sometime we want to enjoy our time without thinking much and only want to have fun.
So we don't have to expect win and let it happen.

Maybe there will be bettors who will reason out that someone might have told them to bet or this instinct tells them to do so. But still it's not that kind of crazy bet as there are a lot of long shots that could have won in the past and gamblers was able to bet on them.

Re: I need a trade mentor
by
Dave1
on 09/07/2025, 05:12:20 UTC
If you are looking forward to learning how to trade as a beginner then I'd suggest you avoid YouTube videos because they would only end up confusing you. Although there are people that Still learning from this medium but it doesn't mean that you will everyone would be able to comprehend the same way. If you are still below the intermediate stage then you should focus on pdf materials so you can learn the terms first

Okay of you, not all YouTuber can explain properly. Frankly, I benefited more than YouTube, when I was interested in learning trading. Then I started with help on YouTube. The beginning is a little complicated, but later I got good fruitful and the help of my older brothers was fairly done in the trading. However, I will suggest learning from the Trading Institute rather than YouTube. Because there is the most taught by practicing there. And anyone can learn trading very easily. But I won't say bad to all the YouTuber. Because I learned to be trading from YouTube myself.
We can be learning trading on so many platforms online and YouTube is one of them that could help us understand more about trading. Getting a mentor is not something we have to go online and look for someone that could fit in to that space.
Before we make someone a trading mentor, at least the person should have impacted positively in our lives to the extend of having a good reason for making that person a mentor. We keep leaning to know more with time!

Trading mentor maybe nessesary for those who aren't comfortable learning online but if one is willing to learn he can still learn with the free material available online.

However whether anyone learn online or offline, the most important thing is how you trade when you really trade. It is not only about trading but also it is about emotions. How will you react once you win in trade and what is your reaction on your losses, that will become better only with experience. It's also a phycology and emotional control that needs to be learnt apart from trading itself.

But perhaps if you are resourceful, you might find a lot of videos in YT that can help you out. Or as what most of us do before, we uses a demo account to just to know how to trade and learn everything from scratch.

And there could be what most of the successful traders did in the beginning. Demo account before venturing to real life trading. Of course it's not going to be a perfect and smooth transition. You might faces roadblocks, but a long the way, you should have learn something and improved every day. So instead of hiring someone to mentor you out, just do everything with yourself and for sure the hardship will all be worth it in the future.

As the title says, What first got you into gambling, and what keeps you coming back?

It is because of:

a. peer pressure?
b. early exposure to it?
c. social influence?
d. the dream of winning big and have a good and better life?
e. to cope with stress?

I also put up a poll vote so we can understand it more. As for me, it's more of the early exposure to it, whether inside the house or outside. I remember when there was a family gathering when I was small, I will witnessed older relatives playing card games. And obviously my father is a gambler as well.

So let's see others might have other reasons to gamble.

Re: Bitcoin hits near resistance levels... what do you feel?
by
Dave1
on 08/07/2025, 09:50:51 UTC
Personally, I am just trying to not get swept by all the hype and FOMO and still stay objective. I know that bitcoin will deliver me good profit regardless but I need to be careful with my money in these times as I am not a millionaire who can just buy bitcoins at any time even when it is at such a high price.
Still feel that this is not something that will adversely affect the price. $108k and $109k is the current Bitcoin price that is being traded. So, I felt that $110k could have happened this month. Even though it didn't happen, this is not the end of Bitcoin failing to reach the highest price because there are still a few more months for us to continue to wait to see how the Bitcoin market reacts.
It is precisely at times like this that it is best to continue to hold and wait.

There is a huge resistance on $110k that's why we can't get over it. Although I believed that maybe in our many attempts, sooner or later it will have to give in to us and so it will collapse and we are going to break that big psychological barrier in front of us.

So with that, we shouldn't feel bad ourselves. This is just another test for the market and for sure most of us who have been here knows that there are no mountains that we can't climb. We are very resilient to this kind of psychological barrier that we are going to break it, just a matter of time for us investors to pool our resources again. On the other hand, we should continue to accumulate no matter what what barriers is in front of us.

I don't know, but on the other hand, they were caught cheating, at least according to the report. Of course, the big boss has a huge ego. He's in the upper echelon, known as powerful, yet they still had the nerve to cheat on him. That’s the result of their actions, it cost them their lives, which, of course, shouldn’t have happened. But then again, they went against someone influential. Just don’t do stupid things, especially when it’s against rich and powerful people. Now, the case is progressing, but it took years. If not for the whistleblower showing up, it would’ve just stayed as it was, unsolved.

Maybe the people behind doesn't want to be taken advantage as we all know that they really take everything seriously. And if we can compare them, they are like a organized crime or a Mafia. No one is above them and so if they see people cheating them, the price they have to pay is their life.

And as you have said, they are rich and powerful and their influence encompasses government officials and corrupt police officers that is why it's hard to put them behind bars. The whistle blower should really be protected by the government so that he can tell everything he knows and hopefully the person mentioned should be put into justice by the Philippines government.

Re: 2025 NBA Season

Paolo Banchero signed a 5 year max rookie contract extension that could reach $287,000,000! That’s crazy. I haven’t seen him play much, but I had no idea he was going to be getting that kind of money. I think the NBA might be broken. Fans can’t afford to see games and mid players are going to be billionaires.

Apart from the games he missed due to injury, Banchero had a pretty good season. Considering he's the franchise player for the Magic, the contract he got is reasonable. With Wagner and Suggs, Magic have a young core. They can build something on top of that. They may make the play-offs again, but I don't think they can seriously challenge for a top 4 spot in the East right now.

I don’t know if 60 million a year is reasonable for anyone who isn’t a household name, regardless of how good they are. I think it’s a larger problem though. Before it was players like Jordan and Shaq who were going to be billionaires. I bet there are probably 20 guys playing now who will be billionaires, and more than half of them probably couldn’t be recognized by a normal person on the street.

287 Million USD for the 5 years contract extensino on this guy that we did not see on a good play-off series run. What will happen after that 5 years.
He can be a half billion contract if he will play better and make the team a chanpionship contender. For me it is too much to offer just like what Fred VanVleet got.

Magic will have a problem for their salary cap in the future which will break their big star line up, remember Wagner and Suggs are good players and can be a superstar too on what they are showin in the Magic games.

To be fair with Paolo, he is their franchise player that's why he was offered this big money. So they just wanted to have him back in Orlando and hoping that when he is healthy and Wagner as well, they can make a deep run in the playoffs.

Yes, they could have a problem with their salary cap that's for sure, and so they will have to move pieces as well in the future. And just like any other teams, they are willing to gamble with Paolo and if it didn't pan out then they will have to go back again and rebuild just like any other team. And if you notice, teams are willing to do that, gamble a lot and then just hope that something good is going to happen to them.

Re: Crash, Slot and Poker Games: Which one is Your Preferred Casino Game?
by

~
But in crash games I have won good number of times although crash game is mathematical (calculative). If the player knows when to hit the plane or fly, he can make some wins.

Crash games are designed to be mathematical, yes, but that math is rigged against you in the long run. The house always has an edge, always.  There is nothing to "know". These are not games of skill where you can analyze it or develop a strategy. Any "wins" you have had are pure luck.

Yeah, no one knows when it will crash, hence that's where you are going to bet. And it's seldom that it will go as high as you predicted and win the game. But it's very hard to make money out of it, as we all know that this is based on pure luck and there are not strategy whatsoever. And that goes with slots as well, although I also did play slots and roulette from time to time.

So I guess the best choice is poker, and there are a lot of poker tournaments around or at least casinos that have poker in their game. And you can developed yourself a good poker if you know how to bluff and strategized as this is more of a skill base games.

Re: Do winnings encourage you to gamble often, or are they just another stimulant?
by
Dave1
on 07/07/2025, 02:43:30 UTC
I think it must be an accumulation of stimulating factors that make certain types of bets seem attractive to us, based on our personal tastes.

What do you think?

I think a little diferently... I believe that every gambler is motivated by a small winners in order to have more motivation to continue playing with regularly, and it does not need to be a big prizes for that.

I see that casinos, whether physical or online, allow us to have small wins occasionally to keeping us motivated and with that feeling of "next time the prize will be biggest", but without us realizing it our money is completely drained.

I don't see this as a bad thing, if its demonstrably fair... the game was made to keep us entertained and they do it very well. So it is the player's duty not to let themselves be consumed by this desire and to manage their finances wisely.

That's how we are being controlled, and maybe you are right specially in online casinos, if they see that you might be a new account and so they do make us win and feel that everything is good and that we can replicate our winnings.

So there might not be a good answer to the OP, still up to the individuals on how they are going to response. As this is a human stimulus, so others might react different if we are in the positive or losing a lot of money already.
