[2019-05-08] Bitcoin to be offered as collateral during Uber’s IPO
by
Davidbugs
on 09/05/2019, 22:33:40 UTC
In a bid to cement this movement, WCX, a popular Swiss-based Bitcoin trading exchange, has announced that starting on May 10, users on the platform will be able to long and short Uber stocks using Bitcoin during the ride-hailing service’s much-talked about Initial Public Offering [IPO].

The platform also stated that users will be able to use Bitcoin as collateral to speculate and guess the future price movement of Uber stocks. WCX also educated its users that if they think the price will go up, they need to go long with Bitcoin and if the opposite is likely, users should go short. Developments such as this are expected to give a boost to Bitcoin’s value, at a time when it has taken a hit due to events such as the Binance hack.

[2019-05-08] Square's Bitcoin Platform Remains Surprisingly Profitable
by
Davidbugs
on 08/05/2019, 11:46:40 UTC
The volatile price of bitcoin, which soared above $13,000 in late 2017 and plunged to about $3,000 earlier this year, made Square's bitcoin bet seem risky. Yet the business remained profitable, and generated $65.5 million in revenue last quarter -- marking its strongest quarter to date.

Square's bitcoin business won't move the needle anytime soon, but its top and bottom line growth is impressive, especially since bitcoin shed roughly 40% of its value over the past 12 months. If bitcoin's price rises again and it attracts more buyers, Square's bitcoin revenue and gross profits could surge much higher.

[2019-03-29] Canadian Municipality Set to Accept Bitcoin for Property Tax Paymen
by
Davidbugs
on 31/03/2019, 17:35:10 UTC
A municipality in Canada is set to accept bitcoin for property tax payments starting next month as part of a one-year trial.

The Town of Innisfil, Ontario, announced Thursday that the cryptocurrency payment option will be offered in partnership with Toronto-based digital assets trading platform Coinberry.

Starting April, approximately 36,000 residents of the town will now see bitcoin (BTC) as a payment option on the municipality’s website. Other cryptocurrencies like bitcoin cash (BCH), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC) and XRP could also be added in the future, according to the statement.

Using Coinberry’s cryptocurrency payment processing solution Coinberry Pay, residents will be able to pay taxes in bitcoin in Innisfil’s digital wallet.

Coinberry will then process those funds “in accordance with strict adherence to existing financial regulatory requirements” and “instantly” convert them into Canadian dollars and transfer it to the municipality. Coinberry is a Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC)-registered firm.

Innisfil mayor Lynn Dollin said:

“There’s no doubt that cryptocurrency is growing in usage and popularity. By getting into this now, we are making sure our municipality is ahead of the game, and signalling to the world that we truly are a future-ready and innovative community.”

Back in November, the U.S. state of Ohio also allowed businesses to pay taxes in bitcoin, in partnership blockchain payments processor BitPay. Ohio is also expected to extend the service to individuals in the future.

The Federal Reserve Seems Oblivious to a Coming Crisis

Time to hold my noddles stock!

Quote
Yet, while the Fed and others proclaim the economy’s health, signs of stress abound. China’s Shanghai Composite is back to 2006 levels. Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund, the world’s largest public pension fund, reported a loss of $135 billion for the December quarter. Europe’s economy offers little to cheer.

In the U.S., corporate profit growth is decelerating, and stock buybacks, once a major source of stock-market support, appear to be diminishing as funding becomes more expensive, or disappears. Repatriation of corporate cash due to changes in tax law helped fund buybacks in 2018; it doesn’t exist to the same degree this year. Buybacks also were funded by low-cost debt, some $3 trillion of which was issued in the past five years and now sits on companies’ balance sheets. A recession would substantially reduce companies’ willingness to authorize additional aggressive buyback schemes. At the same time, the Fed has been shrinking its balance sheet by $50 billion a month, which has drained liquidity from the financial system.

There seems little doubt that the world economy is sliding into a recession—or, minus unprecedented action by the authorities, a crisis that could be much worse, led by China, Europe, emerging markets, and other troubled economies. Individual-country data suggest as much, as does the decline in global trading and exports as evidenced by the Baltic Dry Index, a measure of global dry bulk shipping costs that has plummeted since the middle of 2008. The U.S. trade battle with China only compounds the problem.

Keep an eye on falling banks shares, too. Those in Europe, Japan, and China are sending clear signals of trouble, and U.S. bank stocks can’t be far behind. A blow to the global real estate market, coupled with a severe recession, conceivably could cause irreparable damage to the global banking system.

Bitcoin At $3,000 Looks “Symmetrical” To $20,000 Top, Reversal Possible

Bitcoin Chart Resembles $20,000 Top

Bitcoin Bravado trader, Jack “Sparrow,” recently took to his Twitter page to tout a recent bit of analysis he completed that could indicate that the broader crypto market is finally nearing a bottom. Jack, asking if Bitcoin has begun to reverse, noted that BTC’s current inverted chart is reminiscent of the asset’s $20,000 all-time high, which was established in late-December 2017.

In another optimistic tweet, Jack laid out a thesis for BTC’s long-term market cycles, drawing attention to halving dates and the trends that have seemingly spawned from these pertinent industry occurrences. The prominent trader noted that there’s a pseudo-inevitability to Bitcoin’s long-term price action, noting that certain technical measures and levels are breached in the asset’s block halving-induced cycles.
While he didn’t explicitly state that the flagship cryptocurrency has definitively bottomed near $3,000, he depicted two flag patterns on the current chart, along with one from yesteryear, to show that BTC could begin to show signs of life in upcoming months

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DyGdeOlXcAA54PC.jpg

In previous pre-halving bear markets, BTC found a bottom between 58.7% to 70% of the way to the issuance reduction. Right now, BTC is 62.4% the way to its next halving (time-wise). And if history is any indicator, that means that the asset could finally find a long-term floor in the coming months, if not weeks.

I think there are a number of other base metals/products that one can invest in to store wealth

The problem is wealth density.

$40k gold is the size of a smart phone.
$40k copper is 6.7 tonnes
Reassure me, you don't know anyone with 6.7 tons of copper in his house, do you? Even the Gypsys don't have.

Re: Why are there no rewards for running a full node?

The pools, exchanges and probably other businesses do have full nodes, for their needs and for safety. Others can do this for the sake of decentralization.

Rewards? It can be good and it can be bad. Just look at the masternode coins; I don't like them, I don't find that model as safe and decentralized as Bitcoin.

Sorry if the question seems stupid. But I don't see what need an exchange has to run a full node...

maybe, these 2 brothers can finally help crypto market instead of killing price by facing rejection on their ETF proposal once ever few weeks

the news is being spread in a way that newbies might think a Savior is coming to crypto world now

i hope this one doesn't end up like USDT or TUSD which were accused of being the reason for many market manipulations  before

ETF rejection does nothing to the market. USDT is fine as long I can buy ramen noodles daily with my PTC earnings clicking all days long high paying ads $0.001 on neobux

Re: Are you sure that bitcoin will fall?
by
Davidbugs
on 04/09/2018, 22:33:56 UTC
I don't think this should be used as an indicator for several reasons, most of us have several addresses and some have several web wallet etc...
Bitcoin may fall in the price but the demand will never fall and we will always have a use of digital currency
