Yea, 0.09 BTC right now is over $1,300. That's over 2 straight months of BTC mining profits out the window (assuming you're using an S9). Seems a bit much, but what do I know? Smiley

Re: Antminer s9 for sale. New seller.
by
DecadentMining
on 06/01/2018, 02:54:29 UTC
Love when new people come on here and start getting uppity about the fact that nobody wants to buy from "sellers" that literally provide ZERO proof of ownership or intent to ship. Most legit companies have no problem providing pictures, videos, whatever it is the customer wants...to give peace of mind. Ironically, almost NO scammers are willing to do those things. Seems like a pattern worth noting. So to the OP...maybe stop being so negative about other people's skepticism and accept the fact that enough people have been scammed with this, that you might have to put in an extra 30 seconds of work with pictures, etc to give people a warm and fuzzy about doing business with you.

It's ridiculous how people even make money these days, when they act like they don't even understand the basics of running a business or building customer/client trust/respect.

Re: U.S 110v PSU for Antminer S9 suggestions please
by
DecadentMining

I don't know all the technical reasons to do this or not to, but I have to do it with 110V and I'm going the EVGA 1600W P2 route. I haven't seen anyone here in Japan having issues running that, and I always go off of real world experiences/advice from friends/family I know are qualified vs. advice off the internet...and I would advise you to do the same! Smiley Which means, take everything you are reading in this post with 100 grains of salt. Tongue We don't have the option for 220V here. My rooms are each setup on 20A fuses and that room in particular has very low draw coming from it as it only has 2 lights and we never have them turned on. I will of course have my trusty friend over to test the pull, go over all the numbers before I hook anything up, and he will be there with me during initial power on to watch everything. If HE says there is a risk of fire or other issues, I'll think about running 2 separate 110V PSU's, but that's unlikely based on what my friend is telling me at this point. I'm not in the US though, so hard to say.

And yes, for me, it's very much worth the $400 price point to get the EVGA as that seems to be the best option at this point. Just my $0.02, YMMV!

Re: Bitmain Antminer S11 releasing!

I know this is kind of a messed up thing to say, but I would personally really like them to release this S11. That way I could get my hands on 1 or 2 and really make some cash. It would put me at an advantage, which I sorely need as I'm already at a disadvantage to all the people who got into mining/cryptocurrencies before me. I'm not saying I DESERVE a break, but I'd take one where I could get one. Tongue That said, I do hate seeing people get shafted out of money and I'd hate for people to feel like they didn't get their money's worth if they just bought the S9 and then the S11 was released.

Re: Good low noise for home mining
by
DecadentMining
on 31/12/2017, 02:10:09 UTC
I don't know why all the fuss. I'm planning on mining (1-2 Antminer S9's) in my house. The house isn't huge and I know it will be noisy but meh, it is what it is. Most people say that without any kind of soundproofing or noise reduction, the miners run between 70-80dec. What you can do to try to understand that level and pitch of noise is run a very loud vacuum cleaner and a microwave simultaneously. This gave us about the right decibel with the higher pitch of the vacuum thrown in. When we did that, you could barely hear anything upstairs, and that's without noise reduction measures. But our house layout and setup could be very different than other people. To give people an idea of how I have things at home...

1.) House is about 2,000sq ft.
2.) House is 2 story. Miner will be downstairs, we stay upstairs about 90% of the time
3.) There is an entry/shoe room (where the miner/s will be) that has a door separating it from the rest of the house.
4.) Purchasing soundproofing foam to put in that room on the walls and ceiling. Like this (https://www.amazon.com/12-Pack-Acoustic-Panels-Studio/dp/B00TP7C9YY/)
5.) Also will be doing the cooler setup, especially if running more than 1 miner. See more about that here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS5nqMvcLDo) or here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uA3c9fjOSc)

Not sure what else to say really, I have everything figured out except for HOW TO GET A MINER! Tongue Seems I can't ever get my hands on one. We'll see how long it takes. Although, it may be a good thing to see how everything looks at the beginning of the year before I get my hands too deep into it!

If anyone is interested in my situation and how I have calculated things for "estimated" earnings, etc, let me know and I'd be happy to share. That said, I don't pay electricity costs (other than getting upgraded fuses for the house if I run 2 miners) so that is 1 cost I don't have to worry about.

I'd be interested in this if you're willing to adjust the price a bit. I'm also in the US and that price is pretty steep. I may as well buy on eBay for that and have the peace and mind of eBay/PayPal protection. Shoot me a PM if you like. I'm genuinely interested. You can check my posts on the forums. I've been trying to get one of these for a while now.

Re: Skipbay69 - Scam
by

Thanks for the heads up. Scammers are some of the lowest of the low to me. Jail time is not enough punishment. I made a post in meta about how newbies should not be allowed to post in the marketplace. This wouldn’t  eliminate it ,but I still believe it would help prevent scammers from just joining the site and posting a scam. Other forums I belong to do it that way to help keep the marketplace to contributing members of the community.

It's funny you say that because I just thought to myself how messed up other marketplace's would be if newbies were allowed to post. Of course, I never would have been allowed to post this or other things, but I would have been ok with it if it meant knowing the people posting there were somewhat trusted on the site. I would have still been able to PM them or use their off-site contact info to reach out and make the purchase. Tsk tsk.

Skipbay69 - Scam

Skipbay69 is claiming to sell an Antminer S9 on this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2629836.0

So this guy is def not legit. He sent me an email back with pictures (inclusive of date/time stamps to make them look incredibly real), as I'm sure he did for you all as well. If any of you have been emailing him and received photos, they are not real. You can find them all over the web, including at the below links:

http://generalsolusindo.com/product/antminer-s9/

https://www.indiamart.com/proddetail/antminer-s9-17412095488.html

https://www.avizo.sk/rubriky/pc/komponenty/inzerat-19719873-zbrusu-novy-bitmain-antminer-s9-13-5th

I want to give this guy the benefit of the doubt and say he was just too lazy to take pictures of his own stuff, or he doesn't have it at his house yet, or something like that...but I know better.

I don't know what prompts these disgusting human beings to scam honest people out of their hard earned money, but it's despicable. Do you all really think you can get away with this? If legal issues don't come your way, karma will find a way to make you pay. You do realize that right? You don't get to mess with other people's lives...and just get away with it. People have kids, jobs, are just trying to make a living and earn some extra income for themselves...so whatever justification you're using, it doesn't apply. Lots of people are just trying to earn some extra cash. They're not huge corporations who maybe you can justify stealing from here and there, it's not some huge evil organization with all kinds of illegal things going on, it's just people. Normal, everyday people. That's who you're screwing over.

How are the forums ok with this? You're telling me there's nothing that can be done? You're insane if you think people believe that. Some of the mods need to step up, or step down and let others lead who have a moral compass.

Re: Documenting a Purchase between user jenia1 and MrWan for 2 AntMiner S9 Units
by
DecadentMining
on 23/12/2017, 02:17:31 UTC
Hmmmmm...Yah seems to be like the whole community is in disarray of trust.  Maybe there should be a protocol that the moderators of this sub forum should police.  I think decadentmining has a point of the pics and documented process of a transaction.

1) Prior to any transaction the seller who posts needs to put a picture up with item and forum name handle.  If pics aren't put up with name then post should be taken off by the moderators.
2) Within the same thread some way of documenting money sent from buyer and shipment label with posted date.
3) When buyer receives the item, they can take a picture with name and also post on the same thread to complete the transaction.

Not sure if this will a sure shot way but at least there's a trail and its a little safer?

Thoughts?

I completely agree. I think that would be exactly what would make this sub-forum work. A little trust, a little proof, a lot of win.

I've used Philipma1957 for escrow numerous times with no issues.

This thread is utterly useless.

The thread isn't useless. While it may not help OP with issues, if he runs into them...it does help the rest of us understand that there is a much larger issue at play here. And it needs to be addressed. I don't want to go so far as calling people cowardly...because I just got here....but, cowards. That's the only word for people who start a forum, make it into something like this, and then have zero interest in protecting its user base. Especially when this particular sub-forum could be like a gold mine for those individual miners who just want 1 or 2 miners. This could be the one-stop shop for those people, and those people are going up BIG TIME! It's not just mining operations now, it's joe shmoe at home who wants to make some extra cash because his cost of electricity is cheap or free. Those are the people this sub-forum seems to be catering to, and yet...there's absolutely no visible desire by the leaders of this forum to do anything to help promote and instill trust and confidence in the buying process. That is odd, for any forum...and specifically one dealing in items that are strictly related to making money.

To be honest, the way everything is going right now, maybe it isn't the best time to be getting into the whole mining business. Sure, it could recover, and maybe it will be at $40k like they predict...or maybe not. Maybe the scammers and losers and other idiots who steal people's coins and money and life will completely and utterly destroy any and all faith in this currency and concept and people will pull everything they have out of their wallets and invest in fiat currency. You don't really know the future...

Right now, I'm concerned as the seeming "leader" in forums for Bitcoin related items has such a stupid issue with scammers and losers and doesn't put any effort into policing this marketplace and trying to assist buyers and holding sellers responsible. I get it that it's not a legal proceeding, and that people here don't have authority like law enforcement, but seriously...how hard is it to say "yes, this seller is known to deliver and has like 200 satisfied customers! upvote and vouch for this guy as he is solid. here's a pic of my antminer and my user name". Why are NONE of the threads on here showing confirmation of delivery and actual mining going on after the fact? If that's never happened, and it's never going to happen, then why does this stupid sub-forum exist? Just completely get rid of it.

I thought moderators would have some kind of vested interest in keeping this forum quality but all I see are obvious scam threads that go on and on and on with little to no moderation, or others that seem a little shady where nobody confirms receipt of their product or shows proof of delivery or it running or anything like that. Who the heck operates like that? Makes me freaking tiny brain hurt.

Re: Where can i buy an Antminer S9 ?
by

on 21/12/2017, 12:29:43 UTC
jenia1 is selling preorders for 3800, he seems alright, and he does escrow. That might seem like a lot right now, but bitmain just doubled the s9 price from 1650 to 2795 per unit. The units reselling now from 3-7k on ebay were purchased at the old price of 1650. That means if the market stays the way it is, s9s can be expected to go up in the resale market. Of course, you never know what the market is going to do. Good luck!

Yea, unfortunately, they're out of stock now, at least that's what the thread says.

I usually buy my antminers from bitmainresell.com . I purchased mine for $1699 but the price may have gone up. They shipped out my miners fast as fuck and I think they do international shipping although im not sure because I live in the US.

Don't listen to this person, and DON'T BUY ON THIS SITE "bitmainresell.com".

1.) Fake account on bitcointalk.org (plugging account) obviously...first post.

2.) The website is bull. Did some research on it. Domain is only 7 days old, the site is hosted on a compromised server, and is hiding the identity (true IP) so that it can't be traced to origin...because it wants to appear US based. Absolutely fake and LAME! Nice try though. I give you a 3/10 for effort.

3.) "Collin Wilson" would have had to find them on their first day they were on the web in order to have placed an order, verified everything, paid, had the device shipped, delivered, and had time to make sure it was legit before posting on this site...5 days after the domain was even registered. Also, who makes an account and uses their full first/last name as their username?

Fake - Fake - Fake. Tongue

[WTB] Bitmain Antminer S9 (1-2) / No PSU / Shipping to US
by
DecadentMining
on 18/12/2017, 10:44:34 UTC
What I really want to know is if there are people that have purchased an Antminer S9 and have received it...and if so, who did you buy it from? I've been so close to being scammed by about 10 people so far, and it's getting so very discouraging. Smiley

That said, if anyone has a Bitmain Antminer S9 or is looking to get some in the near future. I'd be interested in taking 1 or 2 off your hands. Like I said in the title, I'm in the US. I'm willing to utilize any of the trusted escrow personnel on this site, preferably OgNasty. Other than that, not much else to say. I'll be around, looking at people selling as well. I'm also on eBay, Alibaba, Amazon, and other sites throughout the day looking for deals.

If I find something somewhere else, I'll update this post.

I am very, very interested in this. I would be willing to do wire, PayPal, or whatever other mean (besides BTC as I don't have any BTC at the moment) you feel comfortable with. I could purchase some BTC to pay with if necessary but it would take some time as I don't have a bank account tied to my CoinBase/GDAX account yet.

why are you selling it for 3x what it costs for the l3+ and over 2x what it costs for the S9. This shit is cheaper on ebay with the 10% fee lmao

I'd like to see an eBay listing where someone is buying these for $3k?? They are going for like $5-$6k in a lot of cases, $4-$5k most of the time, from what I'm seeing.

OP: That said...I'm interested in 1 or 2 of these. Please PM me or something. I'm seeing a bunch of new members saying they can't PM so I'm going to assume the same is true of me. I am new to this whole crypto world, so I see everyone talking about escrow this and wire that. We can figure all that out later. For now, can we establish some channel of communication so we can discuss how this works, what the timeline really looks like once you get them in stock, and how the whole process works? I understand it's not your job to educate me on everything, and I will do my due diligence to research what I can in the interim, but I am open to any information you want to give. Smiley Thanks.
