Re: Acquiring Bitcoin in crypto unfriendly countries.

In my country, we also experience similar fate with the government bearing down on any business just for their tax or other incentives just to keep them strictly controlled and at the mercy of the government. This is one reason why I strive to gain the best knowledge of bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market in order to be able to do something different and be able to be private about it.

One thing that don't fail to keep me baffled is how more p2p merchants and traders are rising thus creating an environment that is maybe to some degree not under strict government control and taxing. I also learnt how bitcoin is called the digital gold of the century, and its price margin has risen above silver and gold and although it is still in a rather fluctuating price region, it is very much a live testimony of the brilliance and success of digital currency and the failure of the local currency, mostly as compared to the worth of paper currency I use in my country.

Many persons still do own bitcoin and have bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies investment I may know nothing of, all due to the decentralized nature of cryptocurrency despite the fact it is not yet accepted as a legal currency in my country, and with the world not slowing down in adopting it and even going as far to allow wealthy individuals and big businesses with the means to actually own mining farms and run them, it is a matter of time for my country to accept it and allow the citizens to use it openly for buying and selling both within and outside the country.

Re: Some day gas and crude oil will be a thing of the past

For a long time, we have already been using water to generate electricity, and we also use solar power for electricity generation. Now we have cars that depend on water, specifically hydro cars.

We also have electric cars that need to be charged to function, and a time is coming when there will be solar cars. As the world continues to innovate, there will be new developments that will not depend on gas and crude oil, which will definitely affect the value of gas and crude. That is why I pity countries that solely depend on oil and gas as a source of revenue because a time is coming when the value of crude and gas won't be what it is today.
But in all of this you mentioned, will will oil and gas go into extinction, we have had and even seen electric cars but has there been any modifications that surpass that surpass those cars that depend on gas for their functions or running, this statement of gas and crude oil being an old story has been here for a very long time although am not doubting that it may not be possible but am just saying that it is taking ages, I would love a situation where there will be zero emissions for a good air we breath and the ozone layer depletion that the world has been facing, I know that the world is advancing in technology but it seems that alternative energy are not durable despite being environmental friendly, scientist has not come up with ideas that can make them durable may be that's the reason why people are still making use of those ones that depend on gas and another thing is cars that depends on alternative energy may not be able to cover some certain distance, we are waiting for more technology advancement to this effect.

I agree that it may just be a little while longer for solar powered and electric powered and even air powered devices and appliances to take over the gas and crude oil industry because there is so much evolution ongoing right now before our eyes both with the digital cryptocurrency and AI advancements.
Businesses these days do not even need to go through banks because of the ease of using bitcoin or cryptocurrency to transact across borders with much privacy and cheaper fees than regular commercial banks would and this means that the changes already speculated may have already taken root as tools to use with a difference for those who understand how much they stand to profit from being up to date and changing with how the times demand long before the governments even legalize it.

So, I very much agree to this post talking about gas and crude oil being a thing of the past, because from history also, there was combustion and steam powered engines which was replaced by the gas and crude oil engines we have so much modified to suit our lifestyle.

Re: New to Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency – Need Guidance

I don't know why you decided to ask  most of these kinds of questions. As far as you have started learning about Bitcoin, these should be the first things you are supposed to have learned. Let's just say these are the basic knowledge of Bitcoin you are asking about. Maybe you have only learned the definition of Bitcoin. You should just calm down and learn more about Bitcoin. In fact, you can ask these kinds of questions on Google, and it will give you perfect answers.

If I buy Bitcoin, will it be more profitable to hold it for a long
time or for a short time?
You can only be profitable from Bitcoin if you hold it for a long period of time, at least 4 to 10 years. Within this 4 to 10-year period, you can experience one or two cycles of Bitcoin because Bitcoin halving always happens every four years. After each halving, we usually experience a bull run, a period when Bitcoin’s price pumps.if you want to profit from Bitcoin, you need to hold it for the long term. Short-term holding is more like trading, and trading involves high risk. Therefore, proper learning is necessary before someone can start trading and profit from it. As a newbie, you are not advised to start trading at an early stage.

As a beginner, what should I do here? Should I slowly start
learning from here or should I try to invest along with learning?
As far as you have basic knowledge of Bitcoin, you can start investing gradually, as you have said, by making use of the DCA method like buying Bitcoin weekly or monthly, depending on your income or the amount of money you set for buying Bitcoin. With this DCA method, you will be able to get Bitcoin at different prices instead of buying it all at once.My advice for you is to only invest money that you can afford to lose. Also, try to have emergency funds in case any problem comes up in the near future, so you will not have to tamper with your Bitcoin investment.

While this forum is actually named after bitcoin itself as a currency, so far here, i have seen several sections talking about other coins and wonder if one can only learn about just bitcoin but other coins of crypto, inclusively.
While it may also be hard to scroll back to old topics or post talking about bitcoin here, I would suggest the older more supportive members share some worthy links for newbies like me here so we can easily learn instead of figuring everything from scratch and may miss out on the real reason why this forum exist.

I also think this forum exist to talk about the applications of various terms, investment strategies and market scenario in the cryptocurrency market and surrounding the growth and acceptance of bitcoin as number one cryptocurrency in the world.

Re: Would the gambling industry survive if people only played for fun only?

If people only played for fun, I think gambling would still be big, but not as massive and hyped as it is today, and casinos would earn much less. Because if it’s just for fun, players probably wouldn’t come back every day, they’d only play occasionally whenever they felt like it. Playing for fun means not taking gambling seriously compared to addicted gamblers or those aiming to win and make a living from it.
The gambling industry really is all about the money. Wonder why there are so many casinos and different kinds and events to gamble on constantly, because there is always money to be made from someone's greed or someone's depression in the gamble centers.
Where people play for fun would have the natural characteristics of a beach or a natural park where people go to socialize or relax and not with serious infrastructure or bankroll management.
Even the government of almost all countries of the world today, make some certain percentage from taxing the gambling industry, so i wonder why it wouldn't survive for long, from generations and through many generations yet.

Re: Will banks One day accept Bitcoin deposit?
by

One day banks will accept Bitcoin as medium of exchange and accept deposits from bitcoiners. As soon as the world powers accept it as medium of exchange.
I do think that for banks to start accepting bitcoin for deposits and for payments, would mean that the government of the country in which such bank operates, must have acknowledged it as an accepted currency and trade it internationally. Else, banks have no right to accept what the government hasn't accepted yet, officially.

I think that many individuals even in countries where Bitcoin isn't yet a legal currency, already own bitcoin and maybe other cryptocurrency investments too and it is just a matter of time before more countries accept it, because the idea of cryptocurrency is that which supports an individual to own it and transact with it from any part of the world, as long there's access to internet and mobile devices available.

The world is evolving both technologically with advancement in artificial intelligence and digital currency. We even see robots taking over human jobs just because those that fail to adapt to the times get left behind. Thus, I think it is just a matter of time for banks in both major and minor countries of the world to transact, accept and even exchange crypto currency on the internation, market.

Re: Things I Wish I Knew Before Posting on Bitcointalk
by

I’ve recently made 10+ posts here as a new user, and I realised the forum works differently than typical social media. No likes. No shares. Just merit — and it’s earned, not given.

Here are 3 things I wish I knew earlier:

-Short replies don’t help — you need to write like you're helping someone.

-Posts in quiet threads may never be seen — post where readers hang out.

-Original thinking matters — don’t copy anything, not even from your own posts.

Hope this was helpful to someone

Paddy man
Seeing that I am a newer person here and willing to abide by the ethics of this forum, I think what you said about making longer replies and comments will help in this regard that would help one attain recognition here, but I also think that anyone who is willing to learn from what others have said without much contribution to get noticed, would have also gotten what they wanted in terms of being anonymous to some extent on this forum.

Posting in more threads with more users on board will definitely be a priority here if one is also going to want to have response from the crowd with the major, more respected, more knowledgeable members on this forum.

I also would like to know how much word count would make a post more acceptable on this forum to make one look serious and more apt to gain the best from here.

Re: How do I buy Bitcoins?
by
Dex_master25
on 19/08/2025, 11:53:03 UTC
As simple as this question sounds, a new person trying to buy some bitcoins may encounter great difficulty in knowing the right channel to go through to acquire some bitcoins and as such, it would help that explanations and comments are as simple enough that anyone can understand.

Although am still a new potential in the cryptocurrency market, and newer here, i have done some digging in my offline research hours to know that the best way to buy some bitcoin is through an exchange. While there is the decentralized exchange, there's also the centralized exchange like Binance, Kraken among others of which one can download on an app store, register, fill in the kyc requirements and of course connect to your bank cards to do the transfer and get the exact amount you paid for in your wallet on the exchange or have it transferred to a cold wallet which is not a wallet provided by the exchange you bought the bitcoin from.

There is also the need to understand that the price of bitcoin fluctuates in the crypto market, and it is wise for one to buy more when the price is down and sell when the price is higher. If one should know how to follow security tips of account and wallet management, then they would have become successful at owning bitcoin as a crypto investment than someone who sort the help of a physical broker to do same and are exposed to as much higher risk than just scams and hacks but kidnapping and other cybercrimes that could befall any unknowing investor from breach of privacy of investment.

Re: You still have time

I thank God I joined early then even though am still as new as an infant on this forum. Theres a lot of buzz about bitcoin that even the latest of movies never fail to mention or apply its knowledge in some way to create awareness about bitcoin and am sure the world is evolving so much so to use it because it is currency that would soon gain large customers or user base significantly. It is hard to buy just one bitcoin right now but am sure that buying in fractions and maintaining my buying rate over some time would be a substantial amount i have saved up that no one may be aware of.
I will do my best to learn how to make this is a reality because right now the economy is not favorable, and the banking sector and oil sector has done a lot to make matters worse in my country.

Re: Avoid buying Bitcoin from someone all because you know them.

I do not know much or anything about cryptocurrency let alone bitcoin before joining this forum and it is all because someone introduced me to it, so i now think such friend introduced me here so i can patronise his digital currency business and buy and send bitcoin through him. It is okay now that i know how dangerous it really is to trust someone to buy bitcoin or hold or exhange btc for me. Am still keeping my eyes open for the comment that would teach me the best place to buy bitcoin from and how to  keep it safe.
