The example string from the the first post. I now finally have it running (im an idiot was using "zero" instead of "oh" before the pool information.

I still need help figuring out how to create what I now know is called a SH or shell file (Batch in windows). I would like to be able to click in one place to fire things up.

open a text editor while in your cgminer folder, enter your parameters the way you would in a Windows batch file and when you are done, save the file as a .sh file instead of a .bat the way you would in Windows. FWIW, I have to run my .sh file as administrator (sudo) to make things happy. I'm no genius at non-Windows stuff, so I haven't tried to change anything to make it just run on a double click.

FWIW...my Odroid N2 only has USB 3.0 ports on it and I can crank my Newpacs and R606 to the moon on it using the Gekko USB hub. Never once had an issue pop up and have run my 606 all the way up to 775MHz for a few days without cgminer tuning it down.

I'm currently running the R606 at 700MHz and 2 Newpacs at 500MHz. WU is at 100%.

run cgminer with widescreen enabled. either via --widescreen in your .bat file or doing it through the settings menu while cgminer is running.

your chips will show up [oooooooooooo] if they're all online. each "o" represents an online chip.

Plus the 5v supply on the Apollo I only designed to be able to run the MCU (I believe its rated for 2A), if you run a Moonlander through the USB port you could risk instability issues with either the Moonlander or the MCU if it starts drawing more than 2A.

if I went that route, I'd be using a hub for the Moonlander, but I'd prefer to run bfgminer on my Odroid that has my Gekko hub connected to it. Running things at stock or lower settings has never been my thing.

Pretty sure you'll need to compile this on the odriod. Linux Binaries are for the raspberry pi and x86 based CPUs, they might not work with 64bit ARM.

that's what I was afraid of and that's where things get over my head.

Will the Apollo be able to run the Moonlander? I have one on order. I'll just keep the Moonlander running on the Win10 box its currently connected to for now.

You might change the directory reference in the script, the ./ in front of the bfgminer call, to a fully qualified path, eg. mine is /home/ubuntu/bfgminer_5.4.2-futurebit2_linux_x86_64/bfgminer ...

Do you have the execute bit set on the permissions for bfgminer(?), eg. -rwxrwxr-x 1 ubuntu ubuntu 2242544 Dec 13  2017 bfgminer (chmod 775 bfgminer)

just tried it with full path and it's doing the same thing. I gave rw to the user, group and others to the whole directory for testing.

I'm having a bit of difficulty getting bfgminer to work on my Odroid N2 running Ubuntu 18.04. I have the armv6 version installed and I'm attempting to just get the sample start_moonlander2.sh script to get things going, but I'm getting the following error when trying to run from my bfgminer folder:

./start_moonlander2.sh: line 1: ./bfgminer: no such file or directory

I've given read/write permissions to everything in the directory.

Any thoughts? Is it because it's a 64bit proc?

The only other thing I have running on this SBC is cgminer with my GekkoScience stuff.

yup...you're topping off right where I was at when I was on the pi. I'm loving my Odroid N2 setup being able to turn it up all the way if I want. I've settled at 700MHz for my R606 and have my early Father's Day gift (Newpac) running at 500MHz.

The N2 is a bit overkill cost-wise for a basic miner controller, but I'm also going to try running some staking wallets on it as well as my cgminer for the Gekko stuff and bfgminer for the Futurebit stuff.

so...i bought an arctic USB fan that likes to blow up USB ports it gets plugged into. I haven't pulled the hub apart yet to inspect, but ports D and 1 are now dead. Are the board components easily sourced so I can fix my hub?

anyone know where I can get my hands on a 2.1/5.5mm barrel jack to PCIE 6 pin male cable that isn't some cheap junk shipping from China? I'm looking to power the Odroid SBC running my miner off my breakout board instead of the 2A power adapter that plugs in the wall. I'm trying not to have to make my own.

Thanks

Just wanted to give an update to my mobile miner setup (I'll post pics of the little space heater later).

I went with an Odroid N2 with 4GB RAM that I'm going to use for running some core wallets for staking and to run my miners.

I'm now getting 1.050 Th/s at a full 775MHz on voltage setting 7 for the past 4 hours. WU has been settling in around 99%, which has me much happier than when I was trying my pi and it kept autotuning down and couldn't be turned up more than 588MHz.

Setup is HP1200 power supply, R606 miner, Odroid N2 SBC running Ubuntu MATE 18.04 on an EMMC and powered by a 12V 2A power supply. The Odroid is connected to wifi using a USB wifi adapter and I'm running the current cgminer that I installed today.

Yeah but then you're stuck running Windows 10.

My testers are old Dell 755 machines I bought from a surplus sale for $13 apiece and loaded with Debian 7. I've run 10 pods at a time at 550MHz stable.

psshhh...550 is still using training wheels. you built a better cube than that.

fwiw...when I went hardwired on my pi, I did get a better hashrate and a bit higher freq than on wifi, but I couldn't turn it up all the way like I can on my Win10 desktop before running into issues. I think it was around 675MHz when cgminer would freak out and the miner would drop back down to 200MHz and try climbing up again. I tried different boost settings, but nothing helped. I'm back on my Win10 machine at 763Mhz and 1.020Th/s.

I know some other users are reporting that things are OK on their pi's, but when I look at the pools stats for the same pool we're on, I'm consistently hashing 100Gh/s more with the settings I'm able to run on my Windows box. I'm not sure they're turned up all the way on their pi's.

What OS are you running on the Pi? I set mine up with Raspbian using NOOBS installer. Are you using the R606 to power it or using a separate power supply? Overclocking the Pi at all?

I have been testing with a BBB and have been getting good results, surprisingly as a BBB often has USB issues with devices. I also tried using a Odroid C2 which doesn't even see any devices so is totally useless. My next test is al old Odroid X2, which has been used as a controller for all of sidehack's and many other different miners. The only miner so far it hasn't worked with is the futurbit's.

BBB: Debian, Rosewill 10 port USB 2.0 hub
4x 606 390mv 180watt 1.9 / 1.92th
4x 606 430mv 320watt 3.16th

that would be interesting to follow...I've been eyeballing the Odroid XU4 since it's got some hefty horsepower to hopefully allow me to turn the miner all the way up if I so desire. I'm just not too fond of having to buy a separate screen and create a housing and/or mount for it if I go that route.

This is damn near a mirror of what I am seeing. My Pi is hardwired just because of proximity.

Good to know that someone is having a similar experience. Time to pull an old desktop out and start fiddling with it.

Thank you for the insight @DieselWeaseI

I attached it to my old Win10 machine that has 32GB memory and an AMD FX-8350. Set for 775MHz on voltage setting 7 and I'm seeing ~1.020Th/s and 97+% WU after it tunes it down to 763Mhz. I had to enable low boost after I was getting ASIC plateau errors upon starting to mine. I just accidentally closed cgminer, so I'll have to let this run for a bit before I grab a new screenshot.

UPDATE:

Here's a screenshot of what I'm getting after a couple hours of runtime.

I still have 8 compacs to give away.

I think I will do first raffle. Today will be the start.

Send me a pm  that you purchased a r606  from

sidehack or 419miner or rockmoney  or minefarmbuy.

lets try to get the first drawing done  on Tuesday the 21st.

I'd love to join in, but my account isn't allowed to send pm's yet. I bought mine from 419 and received it on Thursday.
