Thanks for sharing some history. We have the LKETC dragon that used the A1 chip on our "wish list" but the reason you don't see it on the site is because we haven't found one (for a  half decent price) yet.

Every miner you see on the site is physically owned by @TheCoinDad, though we plan on adding more information and historical facts about the bitcoin ASIC landscape. The good, the bad, and how it got to where it is now.

f I remember correctly, these usb block erupters were the first asic miners for bitcoin.
No, they were the 1st USB stick miners for BTC. They were put together by Friedcat using ASIC's made by Canaan who created the 1st BTC ASIC chips in 2013. Those 1st chips were used in much larger miners like today's are.
That's correct, they were the the first 1st USB stick miners for BTC created by a company called ASICMiner (friedcat) in May of 2013. This used the first generation ASICminer chip, the BE100. It was a 130nm ASIC designed by the company, which was mostly just friedcat.

Friedcat did not use ASIC chips created by Avalon Canaan. The Avalon1 was the worlds first ASIC miner that was released in January 2013. Although Avalon did sell 110nm ASIC chips and open sourced the software and hardware for their Avalon1 product, the two products were completely independent of each other.

ASICMiner created the BE100 ASIC chips and used them on their Block Erupter Blade, Block Erupter USB stick, and Block Erupter Cube before moving on to their next generation of ASIC chip, the BE200. Their first product (Blades) were released in April of 2013.

I work with @TheCoinDad and I am one of the individuals that helped develop the Bitcoin Mining Museum website. I've been mining bitcoin for a while and have participated in setting up and presenting the museum in person at the most recent Mining Disrupt event in Miami. This is the reason I am so quickly able to recall certain details from the early ASIC mining days Cheesy

We have lots of plans for the website coming up. We are working on building out a historic timeline of events when it comes to milestones, ASIC miner release dates, and some of the most controversial events surrounding ASIC miners and companies!

Met TheCoinDad in Miami last year - pretty good guy and awesome mission to preserve the miners. Top notch mission.
We appreciate the kind words and support! I share the same sentiment, so much so that I joined the Bitcoin Mining Museum team to assist in furthering that mission by sourcing old miners to add to Tobias's (TheCoinDad's) collection, improving the website, adding content, and providing some further context to the history of bitcoin mining. Keep an eye on the website, we've got big plans!

We will also be setting up the Bitcoin Mining Museum again in Miami this year (next month) to for Mining Disrupt!

[Lightning Auction] Canaan Creative Avalon1 - World's 1st Bitcoin ASIC Miner
by

on 24/05/2024, 02:35:51 UTC
@TheCoinDad is auctioning off the world's 1st bitcoin ASIC miner on behalf of the Bitcoin Mining Museum. The Avalon1 by Canaan Creative was a result of the Avalon Project which launched in September 2012. Arriving in January 31, 2013, it mined an average of 15-20 BTC per day when the global hashrate was only 20 TH/s. It hashes at 60 GH/s using 600W of power with 110nm ASIC chips. Less than 900 total units produced, and only 300 were made in the black metal case like this one. This ASIC is considered to be one of the most iconic, tangible pieces of Bitcoin history. An EPIC conversation piece in any Bitcoin memorabilia collection.

A historic Bitcoin auction held exclusively on @scarcedotcity.
Scarce City accepts both onchain or lightning bids. You will need to pay a refundable bid deposit for approximately 1% of your bid. See Scarce City FAQs for more details.

Auction Start: June 5th 3pm EST

Ebay's selling them for ~$100 per block erupter these days.

That cannot be true, can it? I think I’ve got a couple of these laying around next to my Butterfly Labs FPGA miners somewhere. For $100 each I could probably find the time to locate them. I’m a bit surprised to hear they’re worth anything, but they aren’t a bad collector’s item I guess. OP has them displayed very nicely.
Yeah ~$100 USD is the going rate. I've sold some on ebay for more than that last year. They are probably the most interesting miners available right now. Nice form factor, cool logo, colorful, and practically cheaper than anything else you can find. They won't mine you a single satoshi now days though.

People buy them to learn, to tinker with, and to keep as a soulvenir, or to try and "solo" mine with them... except they are more likely to get struck by lightning 100 times in a row than ever managing to solo mine a block with one of these.

I ended up keeping 10 sets of each color block eruptor as i thought they would be a cool collectible later. Interested to see what these sell for!
Your saying you have 10 sets of each color? So 110 block erupters? If so that's insane.

It took me a few years to find a few of the colors. The silver one with the orange logo and orange one with white logo (both first batch without regulatory markings) were by far the hardest ones to find.

Oh yea, i used to flip these things back in the day on amazon. Would buy them here for around $10 to $15 a piece and then sell yhem on amazon for $50+ ea. Literally flipped thousands of them.  I also bought them when they originally came out, but got all of the colors through the flipping technique.
That's quite the profit. I do remember people managing to get them for pretty cheap on here a few years ago. Don't see them for sale hardly ever on here now.

Then again you probably paid for them in bitcoin if you got them here, which might be regrettable now from the store of value perspective.

Ebay's selling them for ~$100 per block erupter these days.

this looks great indeed.
like mopar, i also unfortunately only own an old usb antminer u2
where do you ship from?
I ship from Canada. There shouldn't be any issue shipping to most places. Total weight of everything with the frame is 10lbs. Buyer pay for shipping.

I also collected the antminer "u" series as well. I've got a few u1, u2, and u3 miners that haven't been used in many years.

Unfortunately my u2 miners burnt out after an overclocking experiment gone wrong shortly after I got them in 2015. All 5 of my u2's are toast but I couldn't bring myself to just throw them away.

Selling my completed ASICMiner Block Erupter Sapphire USB collection set on Scarce City:

Auction goes live on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 and is active for 48 hours.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the only existing complete collection of ASICMiner Sapphire Block Erupter USBs that has ever been shared online. This collection includes all 4 unique colors from the first Sapphire batch release (https://web.archive.org/web/20140416100930/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=212085), and all 7 unique colors from the second Sapphire batch release (https://web.archive.org/web/20131105152605/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=280961) for a total of 11 unique Block Erupters. I’m also including another black (batch 1) that is used to display the rear PCB board and hardware components as a compliment the info graphic advertisement in the shadow box frame.

Every USB Block Erupter has been tested using cgminer. They are all fully functional and each mine at ~330 MH/s.

Both of the 49 Port ASICMiner Block Erupter USB Hubs have also been tested using an APX PSU with a 24 pin power connector and high Amp (30Amp required) 5V output. The Block Erupter hubs use a 5V rail to power all of the USB ports.

This completed set includes:
- 12 x ASICMiner Block Erupter USBs (11 unique variants/colors, and 1 extra black (batch 1) Block Erupter)
- 2 x 49 Port ASICMiner Block Erupter USB Hubs (First and second releases).
- 1 x 18"x24" shadow box frame
- 3 x print outs. First and second batch release print outs of the USB Block Erupter on the Bitcointalk forum, and 1 print out of an infographic by (defunct) bitcoinexaminer.org showing the Block Erupter components and re-sale price of 1.05 BTC.

The History:

On May 4th, 2013, a user named friedcat from ASICMiner released the first ever bitcoin mining ASIC USB device on the bitcointalk forums, the Block Erupter USB.

The Block Erupter USB wasn’t the first ASIC miner released, but it was the first ever to use the USB form factor, and used the first ever ASIC chip ever manufactured. The release of the Block Erupter USB comes only a few months after Avalon released the first ever bitcoin ASIC miner to the public in January 2013, and it comes 7 months before Bitmain unveiled it’s first ASIC Miner; the Antminer S1.

These Block Erupter USB devices have a hash rate of 333 MH/s (0.000333 TH/s) and were available for purchase at a price of 1.99 BTC per USB miner upon release. Market value for 1.99 BTC was around $200-$225 USD at the time. These are massively inadequate in terms of mining power by today's metrics. Today, the Block Erupter USBs are technically the least powerful bitcoin ASIC mining devices in the world, since they were the first ever ASIC chips ever created (130nm BE100).

I've been trying to purchase his service for a week after testing the 24 hour trial. It took a couple of days before Zakiluck responded with a btc receiving address to pay for his server1 service.

As soon as I got his receiving address, I sent the payment and email notification with the tx hash letting him know that I paid.

It's been 5 days since I sent the payment. I still haven't heard back from him and I still don't have the service I paid for.

I looked up the tx hash on a block explorer. He spent the payment to another address an hour after he received the funds from me. Since then there have been several spends that include my initial payment amount.

I'll let this marinate for another week or so. I'll post an update here to let everybody know how this ends up playing out. I've got a bad taste in my mouth...

Turns out zakiluck wasn't receiving any of my emails that I was sending over. This is likely because of Hotmail's spam detection gets so easily triggered by any messages mentioning bitcoin or "strange" transaction hashes.

I decided to PM his profile on bitcointalk and he responded within minutes. I'm all setup now!

Thanks zakiluck!

@TheCoinDad on Twitter has created the first bitcoin ASIC museum. He even has the Avalon2, an extremely rare piece that that came out just after the first ASIC miner was delivered to Jeff Garzik. Check out his collection: https://bitcoinminingmuseum.com/

Nice website...thanks! Now I need to see someone create a website museum for all items Bitcoin related...especially physical Bitcoins.

   Thanks for sharing though!
I know this isn't quite a bitcoin museum, but I still think somebody might find this interesting; The "Scarce City" marketplace (https://scarce.city/) has physical collectible section that you can find and/or purchase. The search filters can narrow the results down to "Physical" and "Collectible" (https://scarce.city/marketplace/physical?refinementList%5Bcategory%5D%5B0%5D=collectibles).

While there isn't much on there ATM, there are currently a couple physical "Casascius" style loaded coins on there.

Also, if you go to the Scarce City homepage, you can scroll through the "Past Drops" section to find almost 100 different collection categories. For example, 1 of the ~100 collections is called "The Unconfiscatable Collection" which contains 22 items, including Casascius, TGBEX, and BTCC Mint coins (https://scarce.city/collections/unconfiscatable-1).

I also remember seeing many of the old USB miners (Block erupters, Antminer u1, u2 collections ect..). They are still on there somewhere. Search engines will find them.

The site is mostly cluttered with a bunch of pepes and artwork, but there are quite a few really cool/old physical pieces of bitcoin hardware and memorabilia in there if you take some time to rummage through the garbage.

Despite this, I agree that a dedicated/organized/formal physical bitcoin museum website is definitely missing in this space. I think it's probably a matter of time before somebody or some community in this space builds one. Heck if I had the money I would love to build it myself, but Casascius coins are (obviously) expensive!

I'm interested in server1 ( sd & hd & full hd ) without CCAM. Can I please test out the 24 hour trail? I have an older Minix U1 Android box with the XCIPTV app so I would be looking for a M3U login I believe.

Please PM me. I've enabled the setting to "Allow newbies to send you PMs". Thanks!
