ok mine says Synchronizing now too. I'm glad it looks like it's doing something but I don't like the idea of a wallet that isn't working full time. Could this be a problem with the servers?
The servers are all run by volunteers using open source code that was made non-profit out of the good will of people's hearts.
You probably connected to a server that was having difficulties, maybe their cat slept on the escape key or something.
If you have connection issues, try reconnecting, try connecting to a different server, etc.
Maybe in the future, there will be some sort of business running official professionally maintained servers for Electrum. Until then, you're basically relying on a group of volunteers. (then of course... the same can be said for the Bitcoin Core, multibit, or ANY bitcoin wallet...)

I have been using electrum for awhile now with no problems at all but suddenly now it's not working, say "not connected". I almost seem to remember reading somewhere that I should update the client, but I didn't see anything on their website about that. I'm on version 1.9.5 running on ubuntu 14.04. Or now that I write this maybe it quit working when I updated to ubuntu 14.04? Any ideas?

Hey again, I'm actually going to meet up with my friend who runs this organization tomorrow, I'll speak to him about the idea of taking bitcoin, see what his thinks about it. If he's down with it, we'll need to think of what the best way to implement it.

well back in the old days I used to play a lot of PS2. But now I don't really have time for games. But I would like to get back into PS gaming one of these days. I'm actually going to get a new PSU for my computer today because my current one died. So I'm going to get something with at least 500w so in the future I might be able to play some games on it.
I know that place, should be good to catch up a little bit with other btc fans

Yes I was thinking about redhat too, but it would be cool if there was an organization that offered free advice or support. Of course with free you can't expect the same level of service as a professional consulting business, but I think it would be great if something like this existed.

I really like Slovenia, it's a nice place and this is good news to hear. But to me I don't really care that much if we have to pay capital gains on the sales, because that's just like anything else. In fact maybe if will end up being a positive because it could encourage people to use bitcoin rather than sell it for fiat.

paypal is just awful, they were always investigating my purchase even though I never did anything shady, just normal purchases. It got so bad I finally closed my paypal account and now they won't even allow me to use their processing service with the card that I used to have on my account. What I mean is if someone is using paypal to process credit cards on their website for example, it won't work for me with my credit card. Paypal sees that it is my card and won't allow me to use it.
