interesting ...
the big issue is, will it really be ready and shipped around end of january 2014 ... ?

It says on their site they will ship between Jan 17 and Jan 24.

I wouldn't pull the trigger until then.

The problem is that if you wait till there is stock then your unlikely to get any because they will all be sold. :|

That's what they want you to think.

I've been watching this thread for a while and it's good to see the progress you're making.
The pictures you posted don't really show how everything connects up. Is this a USB rig and can regular mining software like cgminer detect the device? Or does this connect to the network via CAT5 like a block eruptor blade?
Also, what size power supply is that in there? What kind of power does each board require?

Thanks and keep up the good work.

I was using a "test bench".
DIYPC Alpha-DB6 Black Acrylic ATX Bench Case.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353001

It's completely open which allows for good cooling and is easy to put together.
It wasn't hard to figure out how to hang the GPUs over it.

I prefer to receive it and keep it in unopened box, like starwars goodies

And I will have something to remind me for what I was fucked in the ass.

Here's what I was thinking: Everyone should send one tube of K-Y lubricant to BFL (attn: Josh).

That way when they fail to deliver on the Monarch they will be able to sufficiently prepare their customers before applying the ass pounding.

You can buy a tube for about .07btc right now.
http://www.cryptosextoys.com/ky-jelly-tube-2oz

Amazon sells it too and will even gift wrap it.
http://www.amazon.com/KY-K-Y-Jelly-Personal-Lubricant/dp/B005GHH6FO/ref=sr_1_18?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1381883006&sr=1-18&keywords=k-y

Just order it up and have them ship it to 10770 El Monte, Leawood, KS 66211 USA

I am going to do this.  And if just one more of you do this with me, BFL may well just dismiss us as a couple of fags.  But if three of us, imagine three disgruntled BFL customers each send one tube of K-Y to BFL, they might start getting worried.  And imagine if you can, just imagine how BFL will feel when they start seeing dozens of tubes of K-Y shipped to their doorstep every day.  They would think it was a movement.  And folks, that's just what it is, the Butterfly Ass Lube Movement.

If they want to sell to the un-informed masses and make a quick buck, then they can do that. But they will not prosper and will not stay in the business very long.

I'm sure the millions of dollars they've made are very useful for wiping away tears when they cry themselves to sleep at night on their private island after having "not been in business very long."

Pessimism Detection = 2 weekstm

Maybe I'm an optimist.  But I'm not buying any ASIC until I know it can earn me more than I can make just buying BTC.

EdManet, very nice summary, agree with all points above without any doubts.

but there is a small catch - you will be always potential customer, because no one in this business is able to instantly sold you money printing machine OR/AND there is lot of guys around, which are able again and again accept preorder, even if the company already fuck up in past (BFL case and Monarch preorders)

good luck dude.

If they want to sell to the un-informed masses and make a quick buck, then they can do that. But they will not prosper and will not stay in the business very long.

A better business model is to sell to the informed consumer.  I think that's what Redhash is going for and I think they will wind up winners in the game.

To All ASIC Miner Manufacturers

Dear ASIC mining equipment manufacturers,

I am your potential customer.
I am an experienced bitcoin miner. I consider my level of technical knowledge to be above average.

Here's how you can sell me an ASIC miner:

1. I will only buy from your current stock. I am not going to purchase something you have yet to create. When I pay for the equipment I expect it to be boxed up and on it's way to me the next day. I expect it to be in my hands within a week. tl;dr no pre-orders.

2. I will not pay more money for your equipment than I can earn with it. In fact, I want to make a good profit with it. I did not get into this game to lose money. I used to make a good profit with GPUs before ASICs came into play. The earning potential of your equipment is time sensitive.  A lot of us use The Genesis Block Mining Calculator to determine potential profit; you should use it to determine your pricing.

3. Good customer service goes a long way.  Treat your customers right and they'll buy from you again. Repeat customers is how a company stays in business. If you can consistently provide service and products that exceed expectations, you will sell much more equipment.

4. This is business.  If you can't honor your end of the deal then the deal is off. I don't want excuses, I don't want promises, I want my money back.

I am your potential customer. Maybe we can do business.

But... at 15BTC there is no ROI.  The break even point is about half that price.
http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/31d85cc849

Actually this estimate is incorrect. If you look carefully, the first mining month is estimated as having a diff of 293 million(!) Our units will start shipping on October 2nd, when we will still obviously be at the current difficulty 149 million.

This is a big flaw of the mining.thegenesisblock.com calculator... The granularity of 1-month in its table of numbers is too coarse to accurately predict the revenue of a miner shipping in the next few days because there is a big difference between a miner shipping on October 1st vs October 30th, but in both cases mining.thegenesisblock.com will show the same revenue!

So to work around this flaw, you have to fudge with the "current difficulty" so that the October 2013 starting mining difficulty starts at 149 million, in which case you see that at 15 BTC our miners are clearly profitable even assuming a 100% month-over-month difficulty increase: http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/db4d60faba

I'll admit that nobody can predict the future, but you're asking us to risk 15BTC in order to earn 3BTC.

The Genesis Block Calculator might not be perfect, but I think it has become the de facto standard for ASIC earning potential.

That being said, your product is very impressive and I'm looking forward to the next batch.

I have to applaud the fact you stayed away from the pre-order nonsense and have produced what looks like some pretty well designed equipment.

But... at 15BTC there is no ROI.  The break even point is about half that price.

I'm pointing 4 x 7950's at middlecoin.com and about 4.5GH of block eruptors at a bitcoin pool.
I'm seeing twice the daily reward with the GPUs than I am with the ASICs.

Either way, the GPUs are going to have to shut down soon.

You can also contact the Johnson County District Attorney.
They are already looking into BFL complaints.

$2185.00 is the break even point on it.
Will you sell it for less than that?

I believe your analysis is off because the difficulty will most likely double here in a month or two due to the release of TH/s+ miners

Yeah.  Actually since it's almost October, $1100 is closer to the break even point.

Even at a 20% discount, BFL equipment is overpriced.
If ordered someone BFL equipment now, by the time it gets shipped it will be completely worthless.

It's nice that you got yours, but don't help BFL drag more people onto their sinking ship.

paypal does have some kind of a insurance system right? if BFL comes out to be a scam. you could ask for a refund right?
i bought 2x jelapenos there for almost 400$ total...
it hurts bad when you see asicminers all arround the world already deliverd, live and kicking. and bfl cant even deliver in time.

ATM their on delivering the backorders from november2012.
so basically they delivered 6 months backorders in 2 months mass production.(from april 2013 till now)
my order was in april so i assume its gonna take them another 2 months to maaaaybe deliver my order? thats what i call fraud and bad project management... by the time 5GH/s is nothing worth.

Paypal will help you but only if you file the dispute within 45 days of the purchase.  If you ordered in April 2013 and haven't opened a dispute yet, then you have a hard road ahead.  If you paid Paypal with a credit card, then you need to call your credit card company and open a dispute with them.  They will work with Paypal and BFL to get the refund.   If not, then you need to contact the Paypal fraud department.  I think it's fraud@paypal.com.

And don't expect your April 2013 order to show up any time before December or January.  It ain't gonna happen.

Guys, PP will help you.

This is true.  Just call them.

I called Paypal after they auto-closed the dispute I opened.  They told me to call my credit card company.
I called my credit card company and they immediately credited my account.  They're going to work with PP and BFL.
It's a 60-90 day process, but I am still pretty confident that BFL will not be able to ship an April 2013 order by December.
