IOC has gathered some impressive members to support the foundation. After the former president of IBM mexico joined the board, now joins a member from one of the big four accounting firms.

http://iodigital.io/news/alexander-noordeloos-global-alliance-director-at-kpmg-joins-the-advisory-board-of-the-io-digital-foundation/

Big things will come, lets see where these new connections will bring IOC. I'm interested in what you think about the upcoming technology, any thought is welcome as well.

Here's a complete guide on creating genesis block, how to edit the source code and control the network: http://www.theseus.fi/bitstream/handle/10024/123896/Sikorski_Timothy.pdf?sequence=1

Thanks. This is a great guide, this thread is going to help a lot of people.

I'm sure you took a lot of time just to compile this coin and it's worth it,users will bookmark or copy your works ,thanks for taking the time I seldom see a compilation thread in this section and your work is worth it.

Hey no problem, this was from the beginning ment for people to use since i was vexed that i couldnt find a single step-by-step guide to make my own coin, shoutout to the thread starter too, nice !

I just bought a ton of cheap IOC to stake, which is something good that came out of this at least. As for the delist, there has been something fishy with poloniex for a while. This could be a paid thing to lower the IOC price before DIONS release or something similar..Polo has a history of disabling wallets during or at the beginning of pumps to make it easier to pump, propably bribed by the pumpers etc. Weird errors that continue weeks on end, I decided that even though polo is one of the biggest exchanges for alts these days, i will not trust it anymore for these reasons and withdrew all of my BTC: s and IOC: s to my own wallets.

Allright, since many viewed this post and nobody answered the call i will just post here how i solved my problem:

It was all due to the version of the core btc; I was using 0.10.4 where the internal miner is disabled in the source code except for testnet. This was the reason I could mine the first blocks in testnet but not on the mainnet. As for the solution, i just inserted the same parameters as in btc 0.10.4 to btc version 0.9 and used the miner to solve the first few blocks.

In version 0.10.4 the bitcoind was stuck in downloading blocks and could not tell the rpc miner api gateway the GBT (GetBlockTemplate) information so there was no way for external miners to get work from the server. Good thing coffee made me stay awake and crack the problem, hope this helps someone struggling with the same thing!

Solo mining/private network
by

on 12/01/2017, 18:23:53 UTC
Hey!

I have created a bitcoin 0.10.4 version private network with a brand new genesis block. I have setup 2 virtual machines that are connected to eachother and want to use the integrated miner to mine the difficulty 1 main net.
Heres the thing; I have succeeded doing this in the testnet, the network is going on block 13 and i can verify that the network is hashing with (./bitcoin-cli -testnet getmininginfo). I cannot for some reason do this with the mainnet, it says that bitcoinminer has started but no hashing starts.. This is just for a school project, last thing that i need to get it working. Any help is appreciated (Might tip the guy who solves this for me!).

Heres the bitcoin.conf for both machines:

PC1

gen=1
listen=1
server=1
rpcuser=foo
rpcpassword=bar
rpcallowip=207.242.196.190
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8332

PC2

gen=1
rpcuser=foo
rpcpassword=bar
connect=207.243.197.55
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=207.243.197.55
rpcport=8332

I am using debian jessie as the base os, any advice on how to go about this? Heres what is in the debug.log when i start bitcoind:

Take the DigiByte Quiz
First Person to Answer all Questions Correctly Earns

50,000 DigiBytes!

1) What is a block?
A block is a part of a blockhain which records some or all of the recent transactions on the blockchain, and once completed goes into the blockchain as a permament database.

2) What is a blockchain?
It is a database which holds information on transactions on the network of the chain. Full copy of a blockchain contains every transaction made in the currency.

3) When was DigiByte launched?
January 10th. 2014

3.1) What is a genesis block?
It is the first block generated on the blockchain.

3.5) What was the news headline hashed into the DigiByte genesis block?
EUSA: today: 10/jan/2014, Target: Data stolen from up to 110m customers.

4) How fast are DigiByte block times?
15 seconds.

5) How many mining algorithms does DigiByte have?
5

6) Name all the DigiByte mining algorithms:
Scrypt, Sha256, Qubit, Skein, Groestl

7) How many DigiBytes will be generated total?
21 Billion.

Cool How long will DigiBytes be generated for?
21 years.

9) How many DigiByte transactions can DGB currently handle?
280+/second

10) How many transactions can DGB handle by 2021?
2240+/second

11) How many transactions can DGB handle by 2035?
286720+/second

12) How many hard forks has DigiByte intentionally experienced?
4.

13) Name all of the DigiByte hard fork release titles:
Digishield, Multialgo, Multishield, Digispeed hardforks.

14) What is the DigiByte monthly reductions rate for how many DigiBytes are generated each month?
1%.

15) How can documents be embedded in the DigiByte blockchain?
By using Digusign.com, you can also embed a custom message! Tongue

16) What is the command to reindex a DigiByte wallet on windows?
The command should be "/yourpath/digibyte-qt.exe -reindex"

17) What is a DigiByte node?
A computer which is a part of the dgb network which validates and relays transactions to others.

18) What is the command to reindex a DigiByte wallet on Mac OSX?
Mac:  /Applications/Digibyte-Qt-"version".app/Contents/MacOS/Digibyte-Qt -reindex

18.5) What is digibyted?
It is a sort of an headless client For DGB. Uses Digibyte core source code.

19) What is an RPC command?
RPC, defined by RFC 1057, is a set of function calls used by a client program to call functions in a remote server program.

20) What is digibyte.conf?
It is the configuration file for your DGB Node.

21) What is wallet.dat?
It is the wallet file for your wallet program, it is essentially a marker on the blockchain where your coins are.

22) Where is wallet.dat stored on windows?
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\DigiByte

23) Where is wallet.dat stored on a mac?
~/Library/Application Support/Digibyte

24) What is the most useful RPC command?
Encryptwallet

25) What is a difficulty adjustment?
Difficulty is a measure of how difficult it is to find a hash below a given target. The adjustment of it is to either make it easier or harder based on the hashing power of for example of a mining pool.

26) What is OP_RETURN?
OP_RETURN is a script opcode used to mark a transaction output as invalid.

27) What is the difference between a full node an an SPV wallet?
A full-node is a mining node.

A node:

Needs a complete, validated copy of the blockchain so that it can mine on the correct chain, earning bitcoins and contributing to the security of the network.
Chooses the transactions it includes in its blocks.
Relies on other mining nodes to accept its blocks as valid. Rejects any invalid blocks.
Won’t update its software unless it is sure it will generate blocks valid to the rest of the network
Will likely service requests for blockchain data and SPV clients. The mining nodes provide fraud proofs to SPV-users.

SPV client:
Simplfied Payment Verification:
A Bitcoin implementation that does not verify everything, but instead relies on either connecting to a trusted node, or puts its faith in high difficulty as a proxy for proof of validity.

28) What is a deterministic wallet?
A deterministic wallet is a system of deriving keys from a single starting point known as a seed. The seed allows a user to easily back up and restore a wallet without needing any other information and can in some cases allow the creation of public addresses without the knowledge of the private key.

29) Explain the difference between a public and private blockchain
A private blockchain merely acts as a permissioned network that enables entities to secure information.  A private blockchain is not actually a true blockchain since the access to it is restricted to pre-selected parties. Public blockchain is what it name says; public. Anyone can join on the network without having to apply for permission etc. Anyone can see what happens on the blockchain, which is not something you can do on a private blockchain.

30) Explain the difference between a permissioned and permissionless blockchain
Properly permissioned blockchain networks differ from unpermissioned blockchain networks solely based on the presence (or absence) of an access control layer built into the blockchain clients.

The first primary difference between a properly conceived permissioned blockchain network and an unpermissioned blockchain network is whether the participants in the network have an ability to restrict who can participate in the consensus mechanism of the blockchain’s network.

31) Name three exchanges where people can buy DigiBytes:
https://poloniex.com/, https://bittrex.com/, https://yobit.net/

32) Name three places people can spend DigiBytes:
https://www.digibytemarket.com/en/shop/#!/d/home, http://glivet.com/, http://sanfranciscoseoagency.com/cryptocurrency/

33) What is the current block reward?
~1042 Digibytes/block

Thanks for the interesting quiz ! If i won, heres my DGB wallet: DT8Lmosx7BAXj8qLR8ePFjCubVbUYn8ER1

Re: Etherium. What's next?
by

on 10/08/2015, 12:50:09 UTC
The thing is, etherium isn't ment to be used as a currency, but to only fuel the platform. Smart contracts etc. People assume that it is a scam, but in my eyes they have been very much open about what it is going to be. As for the price drop, anyone who has been in the crypto scene knows that every coin that is released will have a huge price drop, specially in coins that has an initial investment in it.

I am very much happy i invested in etherium, i made monster profits and profited on the fact that i knew that most people who invested in the coin wouldn't be able to sell at the start since they wouldn't know how to use the command line wallet. I sold my investment early since i know when the windows wallet comes most will be dumping their ethers then. I believe that Etherium can be a huge part of our economy, not necessarily as a coin but as a platform for innovation, it shouldn't be taken lightly.

As for investing in the etherium-coins, i will wait untill the windows wallet gui has been made and the rest of the people have dumped their possible investment.
Congratulations on dumping. When do you plan to buy back in?   Don't you think people that wanted to dump couldn't already use the sweeper tool on kraken?  I don't think windowsGUI will cause more dumping.  I think it will cause more buying.

If you look at the chart the price of 0.0026 looks like a pretty stable floor. I think the dumping is finished already.
Well, i will be following the markets closely as etherium has a more than a good chance of getting a much higher marketcap but i will wait for the initial excitement of people to wither down a bit before considering it. I do not think most people have dumped as the command line wallet is very hard to use for people who are not tech-savvy, theres a lot of buy resistance but it will steadily go down despite of it. I can be wrong but highly doubt it as i am rarely wrong in this sort of things in my own experience.

 I have no idea about kraken as i traded at poloniex, we had a 24h waiting period before trading was allowed (Etherium staff asked exchanges to wait). What windowsgui will do is give access to those wallets that people haven't yet been able to access to, only logically i think they will sell if the price is still higher than from when they bought their coins a year ago. After that i believe the price will start settling to a norm.

This is only my opinion but i always value it highly, might be biased though  Cool

Edit: kraken volume is so low, most people wont be able to dump there.

What makes you think incryptex will effect the price so much exactly?

Well, if the coin gets an exchange with usd/eac option, of course it will increase the price. Furthermore, there is a burning desire for a (truly)fast, reliable and professional looking exchange which i dont think has been made yet (Excluding btce, would say gox too but you all know how that turned out Cheesy).

Gox was always a poorly designed exchange but like bitcoin, it was the first so reaps the rewards, i doubt it will die as much as everyone wants it too.

As for incryptex, they haven't even mentioned doing USD purchases so far that i've seen anyway, that would mean they have to be a proper company and register with FinCen or they'll have the same problems as Gox does with withdrawing funds.  Why do you think Crypsy doesn't do USD stuff yet?  I'm sure they are having problems with FinCen as well, and I believe the guy who runs Cryptsy has a legal background too.  The people running incryptex are going to have to put a pretty decent investment down for the hardware or renting for that site because they've picked some high volume coins to trade on launch, pretty much the worst ones, all the popular ones.  Doge coin alone will stress that exchange on its own.  Remember the lag on exchanges like Cryptsy when Doge hits peak volume?

They have mentioned earlier the usd option for eac, but i am merely speculating wether it will actually happen (hence the "if"). Yes, they will have to invest in the site properly to make it work, but if they do it will be huge! I think cryptsy is busy with the coins they have and wouldn't be able to focus on an usd option with the coding problems they already have.
