I see that a Senior Member has just pulled out of the campaign. Can my application can be considered for their replacement?

Has there been any update or acceptance of participants? Are still waiting on the campaign manager to figure out their situation prior to expecting any more participants to be accepted? I have no problem being patient and hanging out, just would like to have a clearer picture of what is going on.

I saw Ethan_NX's post, so it seems like the campaign is still running, but it may be without a "manager" at the moment while they figure things out. Hope you're still accepting Sr. Members, and looking forward to your consideration.

After reading through the thread it looks like you were recruiting a few members to fill up the vacancies, but since then there has been no announcements of new participants. I will be watching this thread for further info, but I appreciate the consideration regardless.

I also didn't see any requirement to apply the signature prior to being accepted, so apologies if I missed that.

LOL at all these guys with 4+ GPUs saying they're normal.

  Roll Eyes

I don't understand what your point is. You're making it sound like having a couple of hundred bucks makes you beyond the capability of a normal person. 4+ GPU is not unattainable to a normal person, especially if it is something you save up for or put a little time into. I have 4+ 1080TI and I'm a normal person, definitely a computer enthusiast though, don't know if that disqualifies me.

It would seem that The New York Times has been a little off-base lately in their assumptions about Russia. I don't know, but this may be more of a political calculation than it is an objective news article. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be more likely that this is a political piece?

All of these companies that are announcing centralized versions of blockchain for no valid reason other than a gimicky marketing compaign are going to be upset when they realize most people see right through it. It doesn't surprise me when companies announce things like this, but it makes me know which companies are desperate.

Re: More GPU/CPU mining same coin -> faster ROI?
by

I would allow each coin to mine whatever is most profitable for that individual card. If you are mining something and you could be making a bit more profit on another algorithm, then you are simply making your ROI take longer and are actually harming your profits. There are a lot of programs that allow you to benchmark your hardware and it will automatically switch algorithms to whichever is the most profitable at any given time.

Good points but sadly most of the wealthy people do nothing to help their communities.

Jeff Bezos ...

Sultan of brunei is a greedy pig who ...

Individuals that you deem to be greedy, selfish people are irrelevant to the good that money can do. It is a tool, and a fundamental tool within our world if you are to achieve any consensual transaction with another human being.

Bezos donated $33M in one donation, more money than I will likely ever make in my life. Has that money not helped anyone, any community or done any benevolence? It is easy to point fingers and say "these people could do more", but realistically they've done more than you will ever do.

Almost everything you have access to is because of a successful and altruistic (to some degree) individual. I agree that there are a disproportionate amount of wealthy people that provide nothing beyond economic speculation, political manipulation or inheritance of a particular bloodline. These are unfortunate cases, but what characterizes the success of people like Bezos or Gates is the ability to bring something of value to a great deal of people in a way that has presumably made their lives better. Without their customers directly benefiting there would be no profit, and in this way they help whatever community they interact with. Of course, there is always an equal and opposite reaction and no good deed goes unpunished.

So in the unlikely catastrophic event, your maximum loss will be 0.0025BTC.

Maybe per individual the maximum loss would be 0.0025BTC, but over your entire userbase this could equal a pretty hefty incentive for you to disappear with the funds or for a targetted attack. Are you prepared to refund these losses? It sounds like, you're saying the maximum loss is .0025, because you will not be compensating this if it is lost.

The extra money won't do much for you. Of course there is more to life, but it does not involve material goods.

Money goes beyond material goods. It is not limited to buying expensive cars, paintings or goods. You are able to develop entire nations, cultures and acquire the means to achieve your dreams with enough money. I disagree entirely that "extra money won't do much for you." If you believe that emotional connections are not influenced by money, and what money is able to accomplish then you are being disingenous. The extra money gives you access to better resources, more effective people, connections, technology, the list goes on and on.

Are all of these things in the category of "not much" for you? I see these all as very significant, they would do much for me.

Re: Mining PC failed last night, cannot see any of its GPUs.

I haven't seen anybody suggest trying the cards on another machine (apologies if I missed it), so I'm going to ask if you have the capability to do this? Try plugging the cards, one by one, into another board. See if they are able to work in another system, because it's entirely possible that something goofy happened and anything from the GPUs to the Mobo could be malfunctioning. You need to isolate the issue, do you have any other GPUs you know to be working that you can test within the Gigabyte Z170X-UD3 motherboard?

Are you able to get any video from the cards? GPUs come with a low resolution output that is standard and native. It'll show your BIOS, safe-mode, all that good stuff.

Depending on where you live, wouldn't $5M be about enough?

Depending on where you live a house could easily cost above $5M.

Could you be happy (for example) in a comfortable middle-class life?

Yes.

Seriously, why would anyone want $20 Billion Dollars?

Then they can do things like this : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2418909.0 .

Once your basic needs are met, extra money won't do much for you.

That sounds like an extremely cyncical view of life. There is more to life than meeting your basic needs.

$5 million doesn't go as far as you think.

There are paintings that cost hundreds of millions of dollars.
$5M will disappear if all you're trying to do is live comfortably in an expensive American city within a few years.

Why different algorithms?
by
EthanB
on 21/05/2018, 14:21:10 UTC
Whenever I try to do a search on why different algorithms are used for various coins I am having a tough time coming to any substantial conclusions. It seems apparent that there are a few coins or projects that are steadfast in their Anti-ASIC stance, so this would be an explanation for a minority of the market. What are the benefits or faults of each algorithm and what makes the developers of a coin decide upon a particular algorithm for the protocol to operate with? It seems frivolous, please help me understand.

I of course would love a small site or thread with listed new coins, their algo and some other quick info.
But on the other hand you have to dig for that info to possibly get rewarded for it.

There are a lot of threads, which effectively accomplish the same thing. There is a reputable member, philipma1957 that maintains an Alt-Coin thread and keeps track of all sorts of things that would be relevant to miners. Found here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3843565.0 Profitability, new technology, new coins, modifications to hardware, etc. You should check that thread out if you haven't already, it takes the best of what there is to know about Altcoin mining and does a good job of throwing it into a single thread.

Follow this channel to watch new coin to mine. Almost all the coins are new to market or awaiting for listing with low difficulty

What other research and criteria do these coins have to meet other than being new, unlisted and low difficulty?

It all sounds well and good, so the next consideration is going to be the price-point. The core specifications make it impressive, especially because it's going to be a better piece of equipment (in some respects) than the ti. People easily could make this more expensive than the TI and that would ruin any gains to be had. The 3GB gives me concern for the future. DAG files aren't getting any smaller. We're going to see a big change in the GPU mining market as the DAGs for bigger coins hit common thresholds, like 3GB.

I don't mean to be "that guy", but I don't think this thread belongs in this section. Honestly, I don't think this thread even has a place on this forum. It might be fitting for Off-Topic, but outside of that it doesn't seem particularly related to Bitcoin, Altcoin or Marketplace discussion.

That being said, 1070TIs should be good enough for an individual to experience VR.

You can take a look at what other people are building in order to accomplish what you are attempting to pull off. Here is a good starting video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXOaCkbt4lI

I guess you are aware of 60 million USD "lost" on nicehash.

I guess you're also aware of the fact that NiceHash repaid all of it's clients. They ate the cost of their mistake and continued operations better than ever after the fact. This is part of what gives them credibility; something that would normally tear a company down only built it up greater.

Would your miner/company be able to handle a problem of this magnitude?

Selling xbox 360 Games + Accessories
by
EthanB
on 08/05/2018, 20:35:40 UTC
Hello everyone, I successfully sold my Xbox 360 on this forum awhile back and I am seeking to sell the rest of the add-ons that I still have laying around! I have a whole stack of games, a couple working controllers that are pretty worn, a headset and some extra HDMI cables.

2x White Wireless Controller(s)
1x Wired Headset

Games are as follows(All games come in original box, gently used "Like New" with game-manual(s)) :

Grand Theft Auto V
Army of Two
Call of Duty : Black Ops II
Banjo-Kazooie : Nuts & Bolts
Frontlines : Fuel of War
Guitar Hero : Aerosmith
Halo 4
Fable II
Civilization Revolution
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2
Xbox Live Arcade
Fight Night Round 3
Tony Hawk's : Proving Ground
Assassin's Creed
Halo 3
Fable
Diablo III
UFC Undisputed 3
Gears of War : Triple Pack

I don't care if I sell them one at a time or all at once. I don't have any specific price points and I'm pretty negotiable/reasonable so post/pm an offer on anything you want!

Accepting BTC and some alt-coins. Smiley Thanks for your time, hope to hear from you soon.

Open to Trades as well!
