Wow, what a joke. Based in the USA, but North-Korea-style "voting". At least Kim Jong-un had the decency to properly fake the voting results and not simply ignore the outcome. I am sure that I am only one of many potential customers that you are losing with this behaviour. Way to go guys, way to go.

I don't believe it is necessary to go into great detail here as most has already been covered, but I also most definitely support Cryptogenic Bullion! It is not only unique in the vast sea of altcoins, but also in a way that i very much like  Grin

It wasn't a bad experience or anything, I even got some coins for it as a bounty, I can confirm CGB had a fair launch from the start.  Cheesy

Nobody is complaining or being rude here and that's worth a lot these days. I'm glad CGB has developed to this point. Looks to me as if CGB just got into a new cycle of growth.
Let's make the best of it.

Yes but still, it is a waste of good work and I think it is better to not have a certain translation than a google-translate-quality one. Those only make a bad impression and can be aquired easily on demand by, well, Google Translate  Cheesy

I am also very happy with our community and how polite, constructive and helpful it is. That really is worth a lot and good motivation for everyone.

I've translated the dutch version. But every update parts got replaced by silly google translations, I've send a list of corrections but they were never implemented.
So yes some parts are a bit strange now.  Grin

If you need any help or want a proveread let me know.

Thank you very much for the offer BTCat, it is much appreciated and I believe we may well come back on that. Sorry to hear about your previous experiences, as you know they now belong to a past era and will not be repeated in the future  Smiley

Great going everyone, keep up the good work! We can only do our best. It is a war out there, we cannot win every battle, but we can sure as hell try! Remember that our community, though growing steadily, is still quite small in comparison to many other "coins of the day". Still, by fighting like true Spartans we are more than holding our ground! Leonidas would be proud!  Grin

Check this list on Reddit if you like, to make sure you are not leaving out any important opportunities Wink

Thanks elambert!

This is a great coin and a great community and I am honored to be added to the development team.  Just so everyone knows a bit of my background I am a professional software engineer, with 10+ years industry experience and 20+ years of programming experience.  I currently have a role as lead developer of a multi-million dollar industrial product line.  I have also made fixes and contributions to several other coin projects.  I am confident that I have the experience and ability to take on this role.

I am working right now to get the development environment ready.  I hope to have a new client version available within the week.

Thanks to this great community, I have high hopes for the future of CGB!

Very glad to have you aboard, artiface! Now let's get this party started!  Wink

Great news guys! We have a new lead dev, at least for the interim! I will announce soon. We will be releasing new clients as soon as possible which will include new checkpoints, a bug fix with listaccounts vs getbalance and a new splash screen (gold logo with new slogan "Earn. Store. Multiply").

That truly is great news! While I was somewhat in shock the last few hours with the sudden price crash and the news of merc leaving (I only then read the blog entry), I am now positive that this will all turn out fine.
As Elambert said himself, I am sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle. We all are just humans beings in the end who make mistakes. It is easy for relationships to suffer and break without personal face-to-face conversations, especially when tested by tensions and stress caused by development and such.

Even though I do not agree with the way Merc handled things in the end, I am sad to see him go and hold no grudges. It surely was an emotional act and he probably hurt himself as much as he did CGB and the community. I wish him well on his further journey and with MADEsparq development.

While many of us had high hopes and expectations of what MADEsparq would bring, and these hopes are now shattered, we must not forget that CGB by itself is a solid and mature coin that can very well stand on its own. Where one chapter ends, another begins. This is not the end my friends, it is only an unexpected turn of events. Yes a coin needs a solid dev to take care of it and keep it up-to-date. Yes I am very grateful that Elambert is there as founder, and is taking care of things as best he can. The speed with which he is already announcing a new dev is honestly right near dumbfounding. But in the end we must not forget that this is a community project. As long as we as a community stand behind CGB, believe in it, and do what we can to help, CGB is not going anywhere.

What does not kill us makes us stronger, and CGB is by no means dead! I am very exited to see what the future will bring. Hang on and enjoy the ride!

Great post, thank you very much for the input! We are also on the exchanges Coins-e, Coinex and Cryptokopen, as listed on the cryptogenicbullion.org homepage. We are also actively working on getting CGB on other exchanges at the moment. I agree 100% that is a very important aspect for the success of a coin. I personally have not ever heard of Mintpal before and never cared much for poloniex, but will send both exchanges emails ASAP. All help is appreciated, the addresses are support@mintpal.com and poloniex@gmail.com  Wink

Well, I am not endorsing either exchange, I am just saying that while Mintpal is new, they have attracted a lot of business. I do like the exchange (so far) as well, but the reason I mentioned it is that a community can get on there with enthusiasm -- no fee required.

So, you can email them, I guess, but there is a voting tab right at the top of their homepage. Just hit that button and you guys can vote and will see all of the results as well.

Of course, every extra exchange is good, no doubt about that. Yes I did notice the voting tab, but if you look carefully you will find that they forgot to put CGB on there  Cheesy

I have vaguely followed this coin for a while as it seems like a good one.

But, I just went to look on the first page to see where I could possibly buy it and didn't see a list of exchanges.

Website says Cryptys. That's it? You guys keep talking about a great community (apparently all of whom are over at Reddit) and yet you don't have it anywhere. Mintpal, for example, takes in a new coin every week or so, based solely on voting by the communities.

It's not so much that it needs to be on Mintpal (or Poloniex or others) for it to increase in value, it is for exposure to other investors. After someone makes a profit on a coin, they may be looking to do some research on another coin.

I really think that when people hear about CGB, they like it. But, who has ever heard of it? It has a very serious sounding name that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and has been around for a long time by coin standards.

Attracting investors who are in it for the long run is admirable and certainly a good goal. But plain old buzz isn't anathema to that strategy. Plus, having a bunch of speculators is fine too. A certain percentage of those investors will like what they see and hold on for longer than usual.

I'm not on Reddit, so maybe this is all being addressed already. But, I think that getting on a couple more exchanges would be in the marketing 101 category. Maybe boring, but required. A lot of people don't like or trust Cryptsy.

I'm not trying to be a downer. I just thought you might be interested in hearing from someone who does not yet own the coin, but is looking.

Can't get the quotes to work correctly.. Anyway, about those addresses that have lot of CGB. Last time I withdrew CGB from Cryptsy it came from 5Ts4Qoybhx9nBDxD37YRptLi4HBNKD1Za8 . That address is top 2 in https://coinplorer.com/CGB/Addresses/0/Top

Does the distribution have anything to do with the price movement?  Only 1mm coins and more than 50% are held in the top 10 addresses and I suspect 1 person holds at least 27%.  I have to believe the insiders know who the big dumpers are.  Sorry, that's just the way I feel right now.  How can such a small amount of people get there hands on such a large % of coins?

I think the addresses with those large amounts of CGB belong to the exchanges like cryptsy, and they have all their deposited CGB held together in a few addresses. The volume of CGB traded in the last few weeks suggests to me that the early miners and the majority of early CGB holders sold off (and are selling off), during this time and moved on.

I think if there was an inside job like you believe, manipulating the price, then I would think it would be manipulated in the other direction!? I would go for my former explanation. I've been with CGB from the start and it has always been the transparency and honesty of the CGB community and development team that has kept me loyal to it through thick and thin.

Agreed.  I saw some people claiming to have 5-10k CGB in this thread.  Thats 1% of the eventual supply alone.

No clue why you would liquidate at such a low level though unless you were intending to later pump up the price.

CGB is ridiculously cheap at the moment so being able to buy 5-10k is quite normal for investors who either have a large bank balance or a fat wallet from early bitcoin adoption.

I don't think the large address belongs to Cryptsy or an exchange.  I searched my CGB address that I use on Cryptsy and it has my balance and transactions.  I believe every account holder at Cryptsy has their own address.

Hmm, my CGB address from cryptsy shows no results and it should be in the top 30 on coinplorer.

Yes I also really wonder what is up with the big wallets and apparent distribution, and I do somewhat worry about that as I am sure many people do. But there are two factors that make me wonder:

1. How many of the big wallets belong to mining pools and exchanges and such? Some are quite obvious, others not. Do exchanges like cryptsy have several wallets? Perhaps one for CGB/BTC, one for CGB/LTC, one or more for cold storage? Could the no. 1 wallet be something of the kind? To me it doesn't look like it, but it seems like a weird pattern/volume/timeframe of transactions and I can't really make any sense out of it. In any case the true distribution of CGB is very hard to estimate so long as a large percentage of holders keeps their coins in a "shared wallet" such as on an exchange.

2. As I already wrote some time ago, the transaction history and size of many wallets shown by coinplorer simply do not add up. Which means I cannot, for myself, trust what coinplorer is showing. Feel free to check it for yourself and make up your mind about that.

MINTcoin has more than doubled in value in the past 12 hours

Sounds like a good reason not to invest right now...  Roll Eyes

I vote for Cryptogenic Bullion.

  • Active development and very active and growing community
  • Rare
  • 94% mined: past heavily inflationary mining stage
  • Extremely undervalued at the moment
  • Only about $80 daily maintenance cost
  • POW/POS hybrid

Haven't checked this thread in awhile. I have a few CGB's that I'm holding long-term.

Are there any exciting new developments?

Welcome back, lots going on my friend! Check us out and join in the fun over on Reddit!
http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptogenicBullion/

Thanks.  I really like the responsiveness of the CGB team.  Something that is crucial to investor confidence.

The only concern I have with the coin is the marketing.  Does anyone have some unique marketing ideas to garner more attention to CGB?  I think it has flown under the radar for too long.

You are right, I saw the potential and right away started getting the community rallied under this document: http://www.reddit.com/r/GotCrypto/comments/1x7j2w/cgb_open_source_community_development_and/

All ideas are appreciated. Right now we are focusing on developing a user base on Reddit as a rallying point to make some real magic happen. In the last month we have multiplied the quality of the services surrounding CGB by many times. It cant all happen at once, but at current pace, prepare to be amazed, and join in!

so how many of the 1,000,000 coins have been mined? where can i see these numbers?

I usually check http://coinmarketcap.com/ but I think its broken right now. There are currently around 950K in circulation. The volatile inflation period is pretty much complete, leaving CGB ripe for investment.

Might want to check this site out, I find it is an interesting alternative to coinmartecap, especially when that is down  Grin

Hi all,

I have 3k CGB and really think CGB is undervalued! it needs more attention so please vote for CGB!
We're on the rise on these sites but every vote counts!

Any news on CGB or Madesparq, the blog was last updates abt 2 weeks ago...
Happy to be part of this strong cummunity!

Greetings from Holland!

Hello menno1986!
Thank you for your interest and support! The CGB community has been growing by leaps and bounds of late with a real grass roots type movement on Reddit. Check the community out, your participation is welcome:

As for MADE, Mercury continues to work on this project. His updates come via the blog on the website which you referenced, so stay tuned:

Also, I would like to point out to the community that a new exchange is coming on line in about 11 hours which will trade CGB! I am excited for the community to be a part of this new trading platform!

Wow, that is great! Exchange really looks nice, 60 coins is better than Cryptsy's 106, hope that gives CGB a bit more of the exposure it deserves.  Smiley

I have 1300 USD and would like to buy some more coins to hold. What do you suggest I buy?

Gold.

Gold is pretty good advice.  A lot of bitcoiners are former gold bugs attracted by the whole deflationary aspect mixed with the buzz of a new tech. With bitcoin in a serious bear market and gold looking like it is going up, a fair bit of bitcoin will be shifted back to gold. 50/50 BTC and gold if you must hold some crypto.

Not sure if the OP is wanting to buy gold, he was asking specifically for (crypto-)coins. I also third the opinion of Cryptogenic Bullion. It is interesting to note that CGB aims to emulate gold with as closely as possible (hence the name), while at the same time offering all the benefits of crypto. My coin of choice  Wink

Perhaps a healthy split between two or three options you believe in would be a good thing. I would personally not hold LTC, BTC is fine, NXT is risky, though potentially rewarding. Just my humble opinion  Smiley

More details on the bot http://www.reddit.com/r/GotCrypto/comments/1xl1jw/gotcrypto_tip_bot_is_now_in_testing_phase/

In the next couple days if everything still seems to be ok, I will add it to more subreddits.  I'm taking suggestions for applicable subreddits to subscribe.

That is great news!  Smiley

I am also very happy how voting is coming along on allcrypt, just look how far we have come, united as a community. Everyone keep on going and we are unstoppable!   Cool

1. CGB 52%
2. NXT 36%
3. PTS 12% (from mining)
4. 1 stake NEM

Percentage of approximate value in BTC. I prefer concentrating my investments on a few coins I believe in rather than having it spread over a zillion crapcoins  Grin Not really sure about PTS, it is the first coin I would drop.
