Can't find any details on their website for setup options, the review video had more info on the app than the website. I wouldn't want this be linked to one pool/website only.

I rather develop that gear into a space heater.  you would be doing well under 40 watts a th rather than the 80+ watts a th the s9 uses.

I still highly doubt that the average house will use anything 3 phase, the stove you describing is probably business grade, now if it is a matter of "quantity" then it makes perfect sense

Yep, it is the quantity: https://www.beemster.nl/en/expertise/three-phased-connections/

By itself 2 phase would be working for many induction stoves, but (if I'm not mistaken) it's 5 or more hobs and/or downward extraction of air, it can go over the specs for 2 phase.
Just for technical clarity, 2-phase power does not exist outside of some *very* specialized applications.

Utility power is either single phase (which includes split-phase) or 3-phase.

Sorry, 1 phase, yes.

Yeah, with a move from gas for cooking to induction (or similar) a lot of people have to adapt their fuse box and get a 3 phase installed. Right now in some regions there's a several month waiting list though Sad

Why would you need 3 phase for induction cooktop? You just need 220v for that, which is L+L (split phase) for U.S and N+L for the majority of the world, probably for the car charger?

So most homes around the globe will have two wires, N and L, where the voltage between the two is 220v to 240v.

Sorry, slow response. Not sure about the exact technical reasons, but as it was explained to me by an electrician, is that there is a lot more electric usage these days, so for over a decade they do newly build houses with 3 phase to be "prepared". By itself 2 phase would be working for many induction stoves, but (if I'm not mistaken) it's 5 or more hobs and/or downward extraction of air, it can go over the specs for 2 phase.
As he explained it would in case of washer+dryer+dishwasher+induction potentially be too much, and that's not taking into account car chargers.

you will use 5400 watts so you need a 30 amp 240 volt circuit

240v won't cut it for the hydro miners, you need 3 phases 380-415v (10A on each phase), depending on your country specs, for anyone who doesn't know what 3-phase wiring is, you can't just use three wires coming from the same phase and assume the miner will work, most houses will likely run on a single phase setup, so it won't be easy to supply 3 phase appliances, it's easy to figure that out just by looking at the wires coming into your house if they are just 2 wires -- you get a single phase wiring, if they are 4 wires then you got 3 phase which again, is very unlikely.

5400 watts is about 18000 Btu of heat.

Oh that is some serious stuff, let me look into that, thanks!

Getting a notification email for this topic, thought to chime in. Last year had to get a room warmed up so the new plaster would dry. After two days of settling, it had to have both air flow and light heat for the water to evaporate, so I dusted off the old L3+ miner and set it up to run air around the room while running an air dryer at the lowest setting. Didn't bring much in in coin, but was a fun to show to the workers that dropped by.

Another thing I've been thinking of is linking liquid cooling from for example a bitmain machine (https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2022/03/14/bitmain-says-new-liquid-cooling-miner-is-its-most-power-efficient-model-to-date/) to a central heating system. Mostly it's using gas to heat water to run through the radiators, but with an abundance of solar panels, even in winter there could be overproduction. Instead of pushing that back into the grid, could be used to heat and mine. unfortunately bitmain isn't giving them away exactly very cheap.

I was pretty surprised that he was traveling around and appearing at conferences as if nothing happened. Rubbing shoulders with people he had stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from. Even more surprising is that nobody tried to take his head off. I don’t think I would be able to show that restraint. I’m the end he is where he deserves to be for his fraud and theft.

He has a group of lawyers to back him up, he pleaded not guilty on all the charges so that means he is ready to face trial and defend himself and probably he'll go for a settlement, the guy is good at presenting himself that's what scammers are great of, they do scamming and still face you and smile at you as if nothing happens.
So let's see what will happen to this case I hope the authorities will pin him and put him behind bars for good and recover assets.

Given his profile the chances of completely going off grid are slim, plus innocent until proven guilty, with most rights still in place while the process is ongoing.

Not expecting him to pull an Ignatova here Smiley

I'm not excited about ETF solicitation either. Whatever happens, whether they approve it or not, I don't really care at this point, although I think it's going to be inevitable in the long run that there will be ETFs on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies like there are on the S&P 500 or stock picks.

Although halving is yet a year away, this ETF is probably the awaited part where the price of BTC will go up to $35k. If ETF approves this year + the halving a very good combination for the super bull run that will shoot to more than $120K.

First of all, we should point out that there is not a year left, but about 9 months.

Then, about reaching $35K can happen in a week without any special positive news needed for it. This is normal for Bitcoin volatility. With very positive news it could reach that level in a day or two.

Downside of this ETF is dat with usual volatility, getting a large market party stepping in and out could actually give more movement in the market, as it opens the access to new money that's not about to HODL.

And to confirm, it works, took a bit of tinkering to get some old gridseeds running smoothly, lots of switching between miner software to see what worked and what didn't, now going to look for a solo LTC pool to mine at for a potential little jackpot.

Hi everybody.

Since getminera.com has been shut down, how is it possible to get the raspbian image of Minera?

I have tried to build an image from scratch on a rpi4, but all what I get at the end of the install process is a "forbidden 403" page on <ip.address>/Minera/.

So I guess it would be easier to get a prebuild image as I am pretty much a noob.

Ready to pay for the license even if not supported anymore.

Thanks in advance.

Same question here, did anybody find a downloadable copy?

Found one: http://folivier.homelinux.org/

Re: Any pool rotation / switching for L3+ ASIC miners ??
by
Flep182
on 08/01/2023, 09:54:18 UTC

Not exactly that, but there have been a few pools that allow for mining the most profitable one and keep all:

https://miningpoolhub.com/

I've used multipool.us years ago, but it seems down for a while now.

MPH might be a good one to check out, if they have a few options you're looking for. The point is that if you mine for 20 minutes on a coin that has temp high difficulty, then move for 60 minutes to another one that's not "the best at that moment", you're getting little result for your hashes.

Plus, remember that when switching, you'd be losing out on the wrong type of payment for share system (PPS would work best in this case). In a case like that it would be easier to go for for example litecoinpool.org and buy the coins you want with the LTC, as they pay around 300% of regular LTC mining profits.

Thanks for the input. I remember multipool.us, great pool that I used for mining back in 2014. Good times.  Grin  It's a shame it's gone.

Anyway, that's kinda of what I want. Just need some sort of scrypt/proxy that will point my L3+ to a list of pools and coins and rotate for a set period of time.  Not a profit switch, a timer switch, much simpler.
I have at least 20 shit scrypt coins that I want to mine and fill my bags "in case one moons someday"  Roll Eyes ...
maybe it's a long shot, but any ideas are welcome.
thank you.

Scrypt shit coins, so I'm guessing they aren't an available option on MPH  Cheesy

Oh, have you checked here? https://prohashing.com/explorer

If they have some of them there, you can mine the most profitable coin available and get paid in the percentage you'd want.

My main problem with your plan is that you could be mining the whole day and not get a single sliver of any coin because the settlement rules might be lucking you out of anything because once you've left *that pool* to switch to another one there have been too many shares on PPLNS to get any reward from *that* pool. Only a PPS would help.

It seems this is the only topic on PiCoin, is anybody actively mining this?

There is no mining happening. This is outright scam using crypto to disguise whatever their scheme is.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking too, installed the app on a burner to check it out and it seemed weird.
