Je ne veux pas faire de spam sur ton thread mais as-tu jeté un coup d'oeil au projet de Blockport (BPT)?

J'ai fait un thread sur le sujet mais étonnement je n'obtiens toujours pas de réponse! La communauté s'agrandis et le projet suit très bien son cours tout de même, donc j'ai espoir que le thread soit rattrapé. Chaque chose en son temps j'imagine.

I would say that the first question to ask is : do you have any disposable money that you could live without?

Also you seem to have thought about an investing strategy but keep in mind that buying BTC solely for the purpose of making a lot of money and storing it somewhere without thinking about it or keeping yourself informed might not be the best plan.

Try to think about things like :

What exactly is long-term to you? Try to quantify?

What would your target sell price be?

Those are two things among many things that help you build an investment strategy that you should stick to unless important new data become available forcing you to adjust it.

Don't forget that "new important data" doesn't meen that you freak out and sell whenever there's a dip. Evaluate the data on a similar scale as your investment strategy. If you are planing to hold long term, a dip may well not be a significant signal to you.

Use due diligence and of course do your homeworks (which you seem to be doing).

Then if you decide that you want to start buying, maybe think about spreading your buy orders over time during a dip to mitigate the risk.

Keep in mind the original post was right before the BCC hard fork at the beginning of August.

Well, it seems we have our answer now, at least on the short-medium term

They seem to coexist pretty well, so well in fact that people thought they'd need new friends... look how many of those fork coins we have now!

In my opinion the community has "overall" reacted "sensibly" to this storm.

Shall you let me rise on top of my ignorance, I am personally satisfied with the outcome.

It seems most of the fear about diluting the value of BTC was indeed unfustified and the projects with more credibility like BCC (sanctioned by BTC devs) inspired more trust from the community and received more approval and exposure, thus consequently are better valued on the market.

We'll see what happens on the long run but for BCC to surpass of even kill BTC it would have to make significant advancements to its usability as opposed to Bitcoin not resolving current limitations/issues - For example if Bitcoin core implemented some kind of lightning network and it failed / was vulnerable and Bitcoin Cash came up with something that all of a sudden solved the limitations of scalability / transaction time.

All things being equal, Bitcoin Core was there first and right now still beneficiates from an aura of confidence/prestige.

With all due respect, I would not hold my breath.

If you count on a 5k-10k% appreciation of your assets to fuel your lifestyle, you-are-at-risk.

If you own 1BTC it's good, you've made some substantial profit, but just how long for are you going to feed your elevated lifestyle with 500k-1m$?

Again this is a good chunk of money that can give your life a serious push, but you just can't exactly retire happy under the sun living the highlife with that kind of money.

Again, please, no offense, but remember that on the markets one of the first rules is to stay rational. Leave your emotions on the side as much as you can and stick to your plan/strategy while keeping yourself informed.

It's good to be confident, but watch out for HOPE and GREED and don't invest more than you are willing to LOOSE.

There's a probability that Bitcoin will reach 500k-1m$, maybe this year who knows (!?!), but the higher your target sell price is, the lower your odds of cashing out and actually reaching your goal. One can have his/her own stragegy and is entitled to it but one has to understand risk management and how to mitigate said risk.

HOPE and GREED will feed FOMO and FUD. Fear of missing out (FOMO) and fear-uncertainty-doubt (FUD) are your worst enemies.

Well after reading this thread from page 1, I would say that...

But seriously, Bitcoin and the underlying blockchain concept to me is a Revolution, a cataslysmic game changing idea to better manage open-source trustless decentralized systems/networks.

Well, seeing this 37-page thread, at least I guess it can safely be said that the community has an opinion!

The debate is still going on and has been going on for a long time. You'll hear both sides of the story.

The hard-forks on the BTC Blockchain are related to that debate. Different developers and actors of the comunity disagree on what Bitcoin should be geared towards and how changes should be implemented to reach their goals (for example block size v.s. transaction time)

With all the delays/unconfirmed transactions and high transaction fees right now, it is definitely an obstacle to the mainstream adoption of BTC as a payment system.

The volatility has also always been a problem for that to happen. I unfortunately can imagine your casual mom and pop feeling pretty uneasy when they realise they have lost 30% of their purchasing power in mere hours when trying to purchase some playdough for their grandson with BTC on amazon. Such corrections have always happened now and then.

Heck even the crypto community is all over the place everytime there is a dip, like right now.

I would say that despite being presented essentially like a payment system since the early days, it has been used more as a store of value and hybrid financial instrument as of yet with most of its use as a payment system being related to the Darknet (will I be flamed for saying that?).

We will see what happens with attemps at scaling-up with SegWit, SegWit2x (oh well...) and the Lightning Network, to allow for faster transactions.

Of course there's way more to come that we haven't imagined yet.


Only the future will tell if Bitcoin will be considered more as a store of value / digital gold or a payment system.

Who knows though? I do think that there is more to come. People freak out like it was the end everytime there is a correction - everytime.

In a volatile market like that it happens often at best. Retracement was to be expected (easier said after the fact though I know).

In any way, who thought such unsupported growth could last 'forever'?

Not only wrong, but also illegal, as was already mentioned.

Greed sometimes...but we are mere mortal beings, aren't we?

I would also assume that the people starting it would already be invested and would have much more margin to play with than you, making it all the more probable for you to get caught on the wrong side of a trade in the end.
