Re: Reconstituting private keys
by
GHOST Buster
on 29/04/2023, 07:54:25 UTC
Do not import your old wallet private key but to generate new seed phrase on your new cold wallet.

You can add passphrase which makes your coins to be more secure and safe. But do not lose the passphrase either, just as the seed phrase too. Both should be kept safe and securely in different locations. Also having two or three backups.

If you lose your seed phrase, you coin would be lost. If you lose your passphrase, your coin would be lost.

You're spot on. The safety of your coins depends on keeping both your seed phrase and passphrase secure and in different locations. If you lose either one, you won't be able to access your coins.
When generating a new seed phrase, it's advisable to use a trustworthy and secure wallet that has undergone rigorous testing and auditing. Also, be sure to verify the wallet address you're using to avoid being scammed by phishing.

Re: Sending BTC from Canada to Dominican Republic; most cost effective way
by
GHOST Buster

Algorithms using RingCT and Dandelion++ technologies allow for simultaneous transaction privacy and protection against traffic analysis. Let's consider various types of transfers: P2C (from an individual to a company), O2O (from one individual to another), B2C (from a company to an individual), and B2B (from one company to another).

For P2C transfers, it is recommended to use simple wallets that do not require the involvement of third-party services such as exchanges. Users can buy BTC directly from another individual, giving them cash, and then receive the coins on their private wallet. Alternatively, a user in the Dominican Republic can sell their coins to another individual for cash.

For O2O transfers, simple wallets can also be used, but in this case, users can exchange coins directly without using third-party company services.

For B2C transfers, companies can use specialized wallets that allow for more complex operations such as multiple inputs and outputs. This can result in higher transaction fees, but can also reduce risks for the company.

For B2B transfers, it is also recommended to use specialized wallets that allow for multiple inputs and outputs. In this case, depending on the specific needs of the companies, different algorithms and technologies can be used to ensure transaction security and privacy.

The mathematical solution can be based on an analysis of transaction fees, which may vary depending on the type of wallet, type of transaction, number of inputs and outputs, address types, and other factors. To choose the most optimal solution, the costs of fees and the risks associated with using third-party services should be evaluated.

Sending Bitcoin from Canada to the Dominican Republic or sending to your friend who sits next to you can be cheaper or more expensive depending on the number of inputs/outputs, type of addresses, fee rate, or the type of wallet/service you are sending from. Bitcoin doesn't have such geographical restrictions, nor does the amount affect the final transaction fee.

The most cost affective way is one that doesn't involve any middlemen or 3rd-party services that take a cut. That means exchanges.
You buy the coins P2P. Give the person fiat or cash face-to-face, and they send the BTC to your private wallet. Or they can send immediately to an address provided by your contact person in the Dominican Republic. When the user in Dominica gets their coins, they can also sell it P2P to someone locally in exchange for cash if there is a market there.

- No banks
- No centralized exchanges
- No KYC
- No questions by banks or government agencies about purpose of transactions or source of funds.

Re: Чей Крым
by

I keep getting random influxes of BTC....five cents here, 1BTC there....I can only assume they're from people on the forums, as I know no one who uses bitcoins.  Thanks to whomever it may be.  I'd really like to know who.

Some cryptocurrency users may be familiar with the problem described in the original question - receiving random transfers about which they know nothing. If you use Ghos, you can be sure that your operations will become maximally anonymous, and you will not have to worry about unexpected transfer amounts.

Of course, anonymity is not always used for legitimate purposes - some cryptocurrency users may use it for hidden and inappropriate operations. However, in general, Ghost and other anonymous cryptocurrencies can be used for the purpose of maintaining confidentiality, making them important business tools and financial management mechanisms.

Thus, it can be argued that anonymity is an important factor in cryptocurrencies, and Ghost is an example of how it can be implemented in a cryptocurrency. Of course, there are other ways to ensure anonymity, but Ghost is a clear example of how it can work.

Re: History revisited: the first Bitcoin conference 2011

The passed forum was interesting and informative. During the discussions, it was revealed that there are not only well-known PoW algorithms but also quite good PoS and PoA algorithms. These algorithms can be energy-saving and, accordingly, reduce mining costs. Overall, the forum was useful and enriching for all participants.

First Bitcoin Conference                                                                                                         Recent Bitcoin Conference. pics

Every revolution starts with a group of perceived irrelevant and common men that believe that a certain impossible task or dream is possible. Most times these set of world changers are mocked and called different derogatory names but they are still focus on achieving their priceless goal. I am sure that even some persons that attended the first conference saw it as a joke. Maybe only few of them believed in the future Bitcoin wants to create. As the saying goes that success has many friends, Bitcoin is now a global force. The name Bitcoin is now a threat to nations and international organisation that are bent on controlling the financial lives of people. Instead of joining the moving train now, some persons are still skeptics. I am sure just as the way some of the first Bitcoin conference attendees are regretting their nonchalant challant attitude towards Bitcoin at first, most people presently would still regret their actions in future.

Crypto-agorism also values freedom of expression and opposes censorship, as it allows individuals to communicate without fear of being monitored or censored by authorities.

Another important aspect of crypto-agorism is its emphasis on decentralization. Decentralized services such as blockchain technology and peer-to-peer networks allow for a distributed and autonomous system that cannot be controlled by a single entity. This promotes a more democratic and fair society, as it reduces the power of centralized institutions and promotes individual autonomy.

Crypto-organism is a related concept that focuses on the creation of decentralized organizations using blockchain technology. A crypto-organism is a self-governing, autonomous organization based on blockchain technology, which allows for distributed decision-making and peer-to-peer collaboration.

The benefits of crypto-organism include greater transparency, efficiency, and security. As the organization is based on blockchain technology, all transactions and decisions are recorded in a transparent and immutable ledger, which can be viewed by all members of the organization. This promotes trust and accountability within the organization and reduces the need for centralized authorities or intermediaries.

In conclusion, crypto-agorism and crypto-organism represent innovative and promising approaches to creating a more secure, private, and autonomous internet and society. By embracing decentralized technologies, we can promote transparency, accountability, and self-governance, which are crucial elements for a fair and democratic society.

I think it would be Keene.There is also agorist acres in Grafton  Smiley

Hmm, you could even set up a logistic company that ferry goods between Keene and Grafton. I think somebody in both Keene and Grafton must first promote bitcoins amongst the libertarian crowd.

Be careful not to confuse your ideologies.  Libertarianism and agorism are closely related, but they are not the same thing.  Generally speaking, agorists are libs who have dropped the 'live and let live' non-aggression principle in favor of an intentionally subversive market stragedy with the intent of 'starving the beast'.

Has anyone thought that bitcoin deserves its own ism?

I call it crypto-agorism .... using crytpography to cut out the need for the state to protect your property ie your cash.

There should be a wiki page for it.... but they may delete it because no-one has used the term before  lol

Re: How much will the NFT collection rise in price after Elon Musk notices it?

Hello crypto forum members.
I want to create a quality NFT collection of Elon Musk images.
If he wants a quality twitter avatar of himself as Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jack Sparrow, Captain Jack Sparrow.
How much do you think he will buy the NFT?

It's important to consider that the value of NFTs can vary greatly depending on factors such as the uniqueness, rarity, and demand for the specific collection. Additionally, it's important to note that Elon Musk's interest and investment in NFTs may change over time, and there's no guarantee that he would be interested in purchasing any NFT collection even if it's of high quality.

Re: Bitcoin Transaction Processing
by
GHOST Buster
on 27/04/2023, 01:25:26 UTC
It is a custom address generated by a user to make it more memorable or personalized. However, it is still a valid and secure address that can receive and send transactions like any other address.

Sometimes, when I click to check, I see a lot of addresses. I have a vague idea that it is for processing the payment(correct me if I am wrong). The question I have is:  how are the payment transactions processed? What actually goes on there?
If you look at the link you dropped to the multiple transaction, you will understand that everything is self explanatory.
Let review it with pictures...

https://i.ibb.co/Y25Zg9r/Screenshot-20230425-233112-Opera-Mini.jpg

The above picture shows these important information.
The transaction ID,
The total amount that was transacted,
The transaction fee,
From whom and to whom. (It does not necessarily need to be from one address to another address. It can be from one address to many, from many addresses to many, in the case of the above example)
The status of the transaction and the block information.

https://i.ibb.co/MR0371W/Screenshot-20230425-233203-Opera-Mini.jpg
This second image shows in full the number of wallets involved and to how many it sent the transactions to and including change address for balance brought back. It is here you will also see how much was spent from each wallet and how much sent to each wallet.

That is the beauty of the blockchain and the information is there forever and open for you to see but cannot be mutilated.
Incase you may be confused about the type of address seen there which uses names in it, it is called a vanity address.

Re: Pollard's kangaroo ECDLP solver
by
GHOST Buster
on 27/04/2023, 00:58:04 UTC
I suggest using a more efficient way to generate the downscaled public keys by utilizing the add and double operations of elliptic curve cryptography. Here is a modified version of the shiftdown function:

def shiftdown(pubkey, divisor, file, convert=True):
    Q = pub2point(pubkey) if convert else pubkey
    # k = 1/divisor
    k = pow(divisor, N - 2, N)
    R = Point.identity(curve=curve.secp256k1)
    for i in range(divisor):
        R += Q # Equivalent to subtracting (divisor - i) * G
        P = k * R
        if (P.y % 2 == 0):
            prefix = "02"
        else:
            prefix = "03"
        hx = hex(P.x)[2:].zfill(64)
        hy = hex(P.y)[2:].zfill(64)
        file.write(prefix+ " " + hx+"\n") # Writes compressed key to file
    file.write("\n") # Writes compressed key to file

This modified version adds the public key Q to a running variable R, which is initially the identity element. On each loop iteration, R is incremented by Q using the add operation, which is much faster than subtracting a multiple of G. Then, the public key P is computed by multiplying R by the inverse of the divisor modulo N, using the pow function. Finally, P is written to the output file in compressed form, as before. This algorithm has a time complexity of O(divisor), which is much faster than the original algorithm's O(divisor^2) time complexity.

Here is no magic, here is script to shiftdown pubkey:
Code:
import random
import math
import hashlib
import base58
def inverse(x, p):

Divisor is 2^3, so new upper range is 2^7-2^3=2^4
In file pub.txt you will find all pubkeys and their number is equil to divisor.
if you try to find all this keys in range 0x1:0xf you will see that only one pubkey will be lie in range
And this pubkey is 03d01115d548e7561b15c38f004d734633687cf4419620095bc5b0f47070afe85a with privkey 0xC
To produce real privkey need multiply privkey by divisor
0xC*0x8 = 0x60
After this need add to result founded public key number (7)
Totaly privekey = 0x60 +0x7=0x67

Hi Eter,
It is possible to automatically printed output number of decimal; which are reduced.

[PLEASE READ] Before post google translate, please consider look for native translator

We are very happy to announce our reintegration with IvendPay!

ivendPay is a payment gateway that specializes in providing cryptocurrency payment solutions for retail, e-commerce, and vending machines. This is a significant development for Ghost, as it opens up new avenues for adoption and use in real-world transactions. With ivendPay’s robust payment infrastructure, $GHOST users can now use their coins to make purchases at brick-and-mortar stores, e-commerce websites, and vending machines that accept cryptocurrencies as payment.

ivendPay recently partnered with Binance Pay. Binance Pay is a payment service offered by Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges. This partnership will provide ivendPay’s users with exposure to a wider range of supported assets, allowing for $GHOST to tap in to this additinoal exposure.

The integration of Ghost onto the ivendPay platform and their partnership with Binance Pay will undoubtedly boost the adoption of $GHOST in everyday transactions. This strategic partnership further solidifies the settlement court that Ghost aims to be for financial transactions.

In addition to the partnership with ivendPay, Ghost also recently added support for MetaMask Wallet for easy and secure coin storage and transactions.

We believe that these developments will allow more people to experience the benefits of using cryptocurrencies for everyday transactions, such as faster and cheaper transactions, increased privacy, and more control over their finances.

We look forward to continuing to build partnerships and integrations that support the growth and adoption of Ghost as a top-tier privacy coin.

Re: Which is better, staking or investing?

I prefer to stake and investment at the same time because that means both stake and investment can be my additional income in the future, besides my main income source.
But both stake and investment need time before we can make money, and sometimes, we need to wait for a longer time to cash out the profit because the market is not always moving as we want.
If you want to do both stake and investment, you need to have a list of potential coins which can give you the profit, and I admitted that it would not easy to have those list.
We need to analyze one by one of the coins to stake and invest so that we can get the right coins.

Furthermore, keeping up with the latest developments and news in the crypto and staking industry can also provide valuable insights into potential market shifts and opportunities.

It is also important to choose a reliable and secure staking platform and investment vehicle, such as a reputable cryptocurrency exchange or a well-established investment fund.

Lastly, it is essential to set realistic goals and have a long-term perspective when it comes to staking and investments. High returns are not guaranteed, and there may be periods of volatility and market downturns. However, with careful planning and management, staking and investments can be a viable and rewarding strategy for growing wealth in the crypto space.

Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply
by
GHOST Buster
on 26/04/2023, 23:38:10 UTC
However, Bitcoin's decentralized nature and limited supply make it less susceptible to inflation than fiat currencies, which can be printed and devalued at will by governments. As for the example of trading aluminum for Bitcoin, it's possible that the price of aluminum could be expressed in Bitcoin instead of dollars, but this would require widespread adoption and acceptance of Bitcoin as a mainstream currency. The idea of using something like energy as a basis for value in trades is an interesting concept and could potentially offer a more stable and reliable measure of value. As for BRICS trading oil with other currencies, this could potentially disrupt the dominance of the US dollar in the global oil trade, but it's unclear what impact this would have on Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

Finally, back to the original discussion, market cap may be an indicator which we can study to understand supply and demand. However, it is not a primary cause of supply and demand or BTC value. If market cap measured in USD was a primary cause of BTC value, then we should all view BTC as a bank to temporarily deposit USD and maybe collect some interest (making BTC a ponzi scheme).

The appeal of having some BTC is not at all the market cap measured in USD. Without speaking for everyone, I believe BTC's appeal and inherent value is secure storage of value coupled with convenient exchange of value. Looking at the market cap is still informative though.

The value of a USD $1 will decrease because USD suffers continuous inflation. The value of 1 BTC will increase for the time being because demand for BTC is increasing faster than supply. And after most of the BTC have been mined, the value of 1 BTC will increase because of the deflationary nature of BTC. But we should definitely have this discussion again at that point, to see what it means for the miners.

As mentioned in the original post, a large part of Bitcoin's positive value (which increases the exchange rate of BTC) is the DEMAND for Bitcoin, via the physical manifestation of that ideological value through trade (in this case, BUYING BTC). However, this is not the end of the story, and you bring up this great philosophical question which I am delighted to dive into! So now we must travel deeper into this rabbit hole, as we ask, what creates this demand!? Why do people find Bitcoin valuable enough to trade anything for it?!

Here is my response to this question in a related discussion at What is bitcoin backed by? My favorite answers

"What is Bitcoin backed by?"

It is backed by value.
Value is created by people, it is not intrinsic to anything except ideas (opinions).
Certain resources (gold, dollars, real estate, stocks, etc) have great monetary value in our society because we look for, or create, certain properties in them when following a particular - the most popular - economic theory at the time.
As an example, if we all started to adopt the theory of resource-based economics, widely promoted by Peter Joseph who created the Zeitgeist movie-series, we would value resources very differently.
So what makes Bitcoin valuable to people (adopters) in a capitalistic economy?
It can be a multitude of reasons:

  • Deflation is better than inflation
  • It is better to have a decentralized power
  • Transactions in Bitcoin are cheaper, easier in a digital world
  • The Blockchain: a PUBLIC record of every transaction
  • I hate Ben Bernanke or the Federal Reserve System
  • The security of Bitcoin's cryptography
  • Irreversible transactions
  • A new economy to start a bushiness in
  • Anonymity (if done properly)
  • Dude, I can buy drugs like I buy shit on Amazon... awesome
  • I don't know, my friend uses it and I just follow whatever they does cause I think they're cool (majority of people)
  • I like code
  • I like turtle
  • Miner: "Free money man!"
  • we can win a major battle in the arms race and gain a new territory of freedom for several years
  • Etc...

Therefore, we can certainly add to our list that "Mining increases the value of each BTC because it reinforces 'the way BTC works'" and its "secure storage of value coupled with convenient exchange of value."  Personally, I agree with you on both accounts and believe those to be some of the more important and valuable aspects of Bitcoin.

As for the comment regarding Market Capitalization: after this post, I think you have a better understanding of where I was coming from when I posted it, so certainly not arguing with you there!  Wink

I am actually working on creating an inflation-adjusted BTC/USD chart at the moment, just to have a solid visual of that here. Though, honestly, you could just look at a Bitcoin chart priced in gold and you would have another somewhat-similar visual. Like the Market Cap chart, this is just another representation of Bitcoin's value, yes, but I do think they are important when attempting to predict market trends, as you know.

A chart of that can be found at a fellow Bitcoin users blog: http://pricedingold.com/

http://pricedingold.com/charts/BTC-2010.png

It's a cool blog. He charts pretty much everything in terms of gold. Lots of great data!!

I may be looking at it wrong, but I am very curious about what inflation does to the value of bitcoin - and I am deep in this rabbit hole. Lets say everyone in the world would accept bitcoin, and You wanted to buy 1 tonn of aluminium from me. We would both look at the value of bitcoin in for example dollars... yes? At this point in the future the price of 1 bitcoin would be 1M$, and that is what 1 tonn of aluminium would be worth at that time. So we trade 1 tonn aluminium for 1 bitcoin. Next year the government would have printed so much money so the market price of 1 tonn aluminium now would cost 1,5M$... For this example lets just say that 1 bitcoin would still be worth 1M$. Then I would want 1.5 bitcoin for the same amount of aluminium, therefore bitcoin has lost its value even when the price is the same.

Am I overthinking this? Is it so easy that if I would accept aluminum in bitcoin, then the price of aluminium would be in bitcoin instead of dollars? Or would it be better to have something else that would give a value of a product or service like for example energy?

Will we see an example of what will happen in real life soon if the BRICS start trading oil with other currency then the dollar?

Re: Bitcoin Core 24.0.1 Released

i can't sinc anymore with the last version, anyone have the some problem?

No, i can sync whether on mainnet, testnet or signet. You might want to ask help on "Bitcoin Technical Support" board while providing some information (e.g. debug log, how do you connect to internet).

i didn't change anything about internet connection or firewall therefore it's not that, there was a warning about consensus when i switched from 23 to 24 version, then the warning disappeared and now it's not synching anymore

If you haven't changed anything regarding your internet connection or firewall settings, the issue with the latest version of the software could be causing this. It's possible that there are compatibility issues with the current version of the software and your system, resulting in the synching problem.
You can try the following steps to fix the issue:

1. Check if your Blockchain data is corrupted or your system is out of sync.

2. You can also try backing up your wallet and updating to the latest version of the software.

3. If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

Ghost Electrum
by
GHOST Buster
on 22/10/2022, 16:29:30 UTC
We are very happy to announce the launch of Ghost Electrum — a lightweight wallet that delivers speed and security!

This paves the way for Ghost being integrating into hardware wallets like Trezor & Ledger! A huge advantage of the wallet is that users can use the wallet offline as a cold wallet. And arguably the most exciting aspect of Ghost Electrum is the mobile wallet! Android users can download the wallet directly from the Google Play store. For those who don’t want to or are unable to access the Google Play store, the apks are made available to download and fit right into a de-googled device. The apks can be downloaded here.

The Ghost Electrum wallet has an easy to use coin control feature which makes managing your coins even easier. For Veterans, this is a huge advantage when considering AGVR. Speaking of rewards, you can still cold stake your coins and enjoy the benefits from staking. This wallet is not a full node like the Ghost Desktop wallet is. So seed phrases will not be able to be imported into Ghost Electrum from Ghost Desktop.

With Ghost Electrum, there are no downtimes because the servers are decentralized and redundant. Your private keys are encrypted and never leave your computer. Sync times are extremely low since the servers index the Ghost blockchain and disc space is very low as well. For those who want to spread out or share their wallet, Ghost Electrum makes this easy to use with its multi-sig feature. Earlier it was mentioned that this paves the way for Ghost to be integrated with hardware wallets, this is because the wallet supports third-party plugins, which users have complete authority over.

🥳Dear users, we’ve got an update for the participants of the BestChange affiliate program.

👍 Now the text materials in the personal account are available in several languages: English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Polish.

They contain examples for describing the monitor which have already been published on many sites.

This is a nice update.
I would suggest one more update, which would certainly be useful. At a time when mobile devices are quite popular, the fixed size of the banner can be a complication for such users. it is almost a mandatory standard for a website to be responsive, and this is much more difficult to achieve with fixed-size images.
just an idea if you already want to make the work of promoters easier.

As far as I understand, you suggest creating banners with dimensions: height - 50 pixels, width - 150 pixels?
