Ping pong is trying to earn the spread... make sure you set the minimum price difference to a number of Sats that will cover the fees and earn you enough to make it worthwhile. this is a common practice in the stock markets, although with perhaps a bit more sophistication.

Actually A lot more sophistication!

And let the "Love-fest" continue!  I'm not a "hater" but it disgusts me how short everyone's memory is!  And in 2-3 months we'll be right back where were 2-3 weeks ago, wondering "where did they go with our coins?"   Again... Unbelievable!

P.S.  To anybody said people were making death threats...   I don't think anybody crazy enough to do something like that would be STUPID enough to post it on a public forum.   They were just trying to make a point.   You people really are dumb.   Hate me all you want but the truth hurts.
I am not stupid! Anybody can figure out that people discussing killing someone is "Conspiracy to Commit Murder", if someone was killed because of this, then all of this forum discussion can become evidence. And anyone suggesting that they have contacts that can "pay them a visit" etc... should be investigated!

People in a civilized society don't behave this way! What we say in private or in public determines who we are and whether others take us seriously or not and in the long run determines the success or failure for all of us as a community.

I am soooo sick of people telling me that an exchange is not a bank... Of course not, a bank is secure and will pay me interest, etc... and serves a completely different purpose.

An Exchange is where I put the coins that I've mined and I spend time day trading but, you can't day trade in any quantity unless you have some coins in the exchange.  I didn't have a huge amount in my account, but I did have enough to matter to me. It takes way too long to transfer coins back and forth so trading opportunities are gone by the time the coins are available.

We need to be able to trust an exchange to be there, be secure and execute orders correctly in a timely manner. That is the bare minimum I expect, and that doesn't even consider that this is an extremely limited (feature wise) site in comparison to almost any brokerage firm trading Equities or Forex. It just shows the amateur nature of this market in general.

no ones feelings would be hurt if you started the first "forex" like website for cryptocurrencies. hell i would join up. but do you think they were hacked when they started also, or maybe less than perfect before becoming a multimillion dollar company?

until then... an exchange IS NOT A BANK!!! lol
Read the first line... "an exchange is not a bank... Of course not". I am agreeing with you!!!!

I've been investigating that, but this environment is soooo toxic and that's mainly due to the hackers, scammers, thiefs and those here who believe it's ok to seriously threaten people with murder or bodily harm.  That's the kind of thing that makes this a business environment that is disreputable in general and makes me seriously less interested in being involved at all. Unless I find some serious partners with the right character.

Since we had Kiur's Facebook page, I thought I'd send him a message.  I don't think we're close enough to be friends.  Smiley

So I noticed he had a stick figure drawing for his picture with the title "Poker Face"... so, I sent him this.

"So what are you hiding? Millions of dollars worth of bitcoins? Pretending to be the victim of a hack when you are the instigator?"

Sorry guys, I know it's trite, useless and a bit lowbrow but in this case I couldn't stop myself from poking at him just a bit!

"Had a good interface"

Hasn't anybody ever been on any of even the low end brokerage firms trading apps?  They will make these look like a 5 yr old wrote it!  We have the right to expect better than this level of development.  For weeks when I started to use this site everytime I would place an order it would show up twice in the UI... crossed order books, sorry but that isn't just a UI display issue, it's more likely the order matching engine isn't processing the data fast enough and so, you get a partially processed set of data sent to the UI. I was able to go directly to a logged in page, without logging in...  and it doesn't end... so I don't want to hear how wonderful any of the sights are that are out there right let alone this one!

I want' honest open answers with DETAILS!!!!!  And not this vague BS over and over again... Didn't we hear that LAST week?

Long story short: an insurance company for Bitcoin-based services.

That idea is really good. You never can be 100% safe. And all the banks and other exchanges have similar insurance-institutions.

It's kind of a start, but who is going to validate that the Exchange is using secure practices in their systems and their coding standards?  Who's gonna run a thorough PEN test to validate the Site is solid?  Who is going to make sure that theses exchanges actually treat transactions fairly, don't front run their clients, aren't getting paid off to let certain big traders aren't allowed to jump the orderbook, etc...

Insurance comes after there is a way to make sure the sites are secured and the consumers of these exchanges are being treated fairly in every way and not stolen from behind the scenes.

Put it this way... either do it right or don't do it at all.

I wish I never invested in alt coins bro, only reason why I am here... I have some sort of strange feeling in the next year or two they will soar....

Was feeling that way up until recently when all of the exchanges were hacked/scammed, now I'm looking for a way to bring some sanity to this as an industry.  The real secret is to "just do the next right thing... whatever that is", it works in life and it works in business too.

Craptsy ?! Are you sure??? They are really bad and this is when they don't have a problem... What would happen if they do have a real problem???

Sometimes you will wait them for hours to show up your own coins in your deposit balance. This is unacceptable.

Cryptsy moves like a slug, has an awkward interface, and can be very iffy. And that said, they probably are the best of a bad bunch.

I am sort of amazed at just how poorly most exchanges are set up and run.

I have to agree, I haven't found a single "Exchange/ECN/Brokerage/??? whatever you want to call these sites that even comes close to what I can get for trading equities. I personally hate all of these web interfaces.  They're hard to program with any sophistication, they expose all sorts of interfaces directly to the hackers, there's absolutely no real charting or Statistical Analysis capabilities and the list goes on... I'm looking for a few people with a different view for this market that would be interested in doing it securely and doing it right!  Anybody have an interest in at least exploring this type of an opportunity?

IM me if you do!

So, are you people seriously believing this crap?Huh   Amazing how gullible people have become. This isn't the first time they've stole from me and they wouldn't even try to recover it. Now, they do it again and their solution is probably something like they'll double the commissions, give half of it back, get you to buy their stock which they couldn't sell in the first place in order to "Pay back" your losses! It means we would have to be Amazingly stupid to go through all of that just to pay ourselves back, fill their pockets again and then wait for this scenario to happen all over again!!

If there is not a full and complete investigation to prove their story, they should be charged and put in jail. If they restart this operation I won't put a penny on it, and I'm  sure those who stay with them will continue to lose it all over and over again until you learn what type of people you are dealing with!!!

Crypto General...  I live in the US and yes, he's probably in Russia. It doesn't mean we have the right to even suggest such things and personally... I'm glad "you're out!"  I'm not sure where you're from but where I live self appointed "Generals" don't run the country.

I've said it in other places on this forum, but we need tp learn how to self regulate this industry before it's done for us although the way things are going the more likely scenario is this will all just fall apart because if there is a 50% chance or higher that putting coins in an "Exchange" means that you will lose them to the thieves that run them, it simply won't be worth the risk.

You know I wrote some code to do some very simple automated equity trading using Interactive Brokers APIs a while back and if you want to see how real, professional brokerages work just observe them.  Once I had an issue where I couldn't execute a trade because their interface wasn't functioning as it should and I was out of communication for about 10 minutes. I had an open position and needed to close it ASAP before the end of trading. I managed to get the order submitted and afterward there was a well documented explanation put out for everyone explaining what had happened, what caused it and what the remediation plan and timeline was to fully resolve it so it wouldn't happen again.

I had another instance where the market data was slow, it was taking an extra 10-15 seconds to get trade data.  I called a CSR, they tracked my account and found a problem with a  server farm, switched things over and things were right again.

What I'm saying is, what we're seeing with Coinex and CoinMarket would NEVER happen with them!!!  Why should we put up with this kind of service and behavior here?

If we want to be taken seriously, we can't come off as hackers and thieves and that is exactly how this looks!!! And in the end that's exactly what it may turn out to be, but for me anyone who defends this behavior and expects us to wait longer before taking some sort of action makes themselves suspect!

One final note... I would strongly suggest people stop talking about retributions that are highly illegal in any country. Conspiracy to commit murder is a serious crime in itself and even suggesting it could make you a part of an investigation, so please we need to find peaceful and appropriate way to handle this.  All I want is my money back and those responsible for stealing it to be served appropriate justice in a court of law.

Respectfully,
Gary Birch

Re: CryptoRush.in Are you Scamming Votes or Not?
by
GaryBirch
on 18/03/2014, 01:51:02 UTC
Well, I guess it's no wonder we can't keep whole exchanges from going down and being completely wiped out either with or without the help of the proprietor of an exchange when we can't write a simple voting system that can't be easily manipulated or in some way questioned.  Honestly, I could care less about the outcome of this one lousy little vote, when we have entire exchanges that are running away with our coins and all because we can't manage, oversee or regulate this new industry that we are creating.

If anyone is interested in working with me to first create a new exchange and secondly work with others to create an agreed upon set of operating rules and principles that would be enforced by an independent 3rd party yet to be created, I would love to hear from you.  I have been toying with the idea for this for a short time, but after being taken/scammed 3 separate times in the last 3 months, I don't see how there is anyone to trust and I don't want to be just one more failure or perceived thief! And you can't have a market place where there is no assurance that standard operating rules are not being followed.

Sorry, this is a bit off topic and a bit scattered but it ties directly to the root of the problems we're having in this industry in general, and we need to bring credibility to all aspects of the system in order to keep the governments out, bring back credibility and confidence that simple transfers and trading mechanisms are not being used against us and to allow us to "self-regulate" our industry or we will become know as a collection of thieves, conmen and hackers. Hopefully all of us are starting to see we have a perceived credibility problem and if we don't find a way to address it ourselves the consumers we are working so hard to get involved and the government who we don't really want involved at all will take this out of our hands.

If I have offended anyone that is honest and well meaning that is not my intention, and I sincerely apologize.

Respectfully,
Gary Birch

I went into the hospital for surgery and came out a few days later to this mess! Now, as a long time developer I know what "Beta" means and I agreed to the terms of service, so I can't complain about that. I will say for some things, at least while it was up it was better than CoinEX which has UI and security bugs all over the place.  When an app can't do the basics of what it's supposed to do, then it's more like an alpha and I CAN'T AND WON'T pay for that any longer.  I continuously ask myself "Why do we as consumers/traders put up with all of this sub-par software, the charts are a joke, no statistical analysis at all, only 1 type of order, no stop losses, trailing stops, etc...

So, I'm finally Pissed off enough, I'll create my own exchange with a "Real" API, none of these REST services that you constantly need to poll on a site just to get stale data.  In the finance world you should be able to subscribe to specific market information and get it in milliseconds & not have to wait for xx  seconds before calling it again. I'll create a client side trading platform first so you don't have to deal with all the web based issues and security.

Basically, I'll build the common sense, normal level of features you see in a typical stock trading platform... a quality FIX engine, realtime tick and data feeds so we can automate some of the simple trades we want to do but don't have the data or platforms to accomplish them.  I'll also, create a trading API that will allow you to build quality automated trading systems that can make you money 24/7... It won't happen overnight, but fortunately I have some of the code already from a stock trading project I worked on a couple years back, and I may purchase some key components for different parts of the system.

Until then, I'll mine... only deal with reputable exchanges, and work like crazy on getting a Version 1.0 of the system up and running and available to the rest of the trading world.  I won't be opening up a "beta" version like it was a regular release and exposing your money to my mistakes/bug which I guarantee you will be there.

No I don't have a name, web domain, or anything more concrete than this email and a couple of conversations I've had with a developer friend of mine, so at this point it's vaporware.  I don't want donations, this will be a "for Profit" venture NOT charity and definitely not open source and I think that by taking the approach where we only make money if customers like the platform and our service we can become very successful.

And with that I am withdrawing the very last of my coins from Coinmarket.io.

Gary Birch
