Re: Celsius, Terra, FTX Crash All Are Prove That Bitcoin Is The Only Trusted Crypto
by

Celsius(CEL), Terra(LUNA) And more recently, FTX(FTT) Crash, What Lesson Are We Being Taught?

We are being taught not to trust in Altcoins, Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that should be trusted, if you are investing in bitcoin, after buying and moving your Bitcoin to your Non-custodial wallet, and keep keys in a safe and secure place, you are free do delete the wallet, even leave crypto completely.

Come back in 10, 15 years, get your keys, get your non-custodian wallet back up and restore your wallet, your bitcoin will be just as you left it..
Maybe with a better usd value?- Maybe but that's not the main purpose or message in this topic, the message in this topic is that --After staying away from crypto for so many years, you still meet your bitcoin the same way you left them in your non-custodial wallet, you can decide to move it to an exchange and sell or keep holding.

On The Other Hand...

If you are investing in Altcoins, then it is mandatory to always be online every day following development update as well as the market, as you never can tell what decision the team will make at a particular time that will trigger a sell off, you have to be there to catch some part of your money as they flee  Grin, but if you are the type that buy altcoin and stay offline for like a month or two before checking again, you might just come back one day and discover that the altcoin you bought and kept it as a future investment are now worthless.

Now, imagine business men/women, working class men/women who bought FTT(for example), kept it in their private wallet and because they are too busy with their day job, they don't have time to follow the project up, they probably trusted FTT as a very genuine investment.
Think about how they must be feeling the day they might decide to check to see how the price is doing only to discover that FTX exchange is no more and the native token have gone to hell to say hello to satan Huh

Even a simple shift from one contract address to another ( which is very common with Altcoins) have costs inactive investors their money, as they were not online to follow the process provided by the project team to shift their tokens from the old contract to the new one at the provided or specified  time period.

Conclusion

If you are not the type that spend several hours online everyday like me, then please give more attention to buying Bitcoin.

I will give three reasons why..
  • Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that has no team to make useless decisions that will crash the price or destroy the project.
  • Bitcoin has never and will never experience a shift in contract address (cus it has non) that will leave you with worthless coins if you are not online at the specified time period to swap, as it is common with most altcoins
  • Bitcoin has the most liquidity, it can never be delisted from any exchange due to low trading volume as it is with some altcoins in the long run, so be rest assured that even if you are away for 10 or more years, anytime you come back, there is always some body ready to buy your bitcoin from you at the market price.

A lot of reasons, learn and never invest in altcoin and abandon it and say you will come back in the future to cash out millions, you might just return in the future and discover there is no longer a project associated with the altcoin you bought.
If you must be Away for even a day in this space, Buy Bitcoin instead.
Keep in mind that BTC like altcoins are paired to USDT. USDT can't be trusted as they are not backed by adequate collateral.

⭐ Merited by Lucius (1)
My understanding of the situation:
FTX lobbied for a DEFI kyc requirement > looks like those crypto players in power in return want to shut them down and seem successful so far. FTX/Almeda inflated their balance sheet with their own tokens, going to be interesting weeks.

Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin?

The banking system is behind most of the cryptocurrencies. They want to familiarize us with crypto, it is the first step to make us accept the CBDCs, which was always the plan. I already hear many crypto libertarians saying:  "I use USDT because it's more convenient, the value is stable"  Wink

You really think banks are behind crypto? If they were behind crypto, they wouldn't had been against it in the first place. Their response of launching CBDCs of their own, tells us they're afraid Bitcoin will take over the mainstream economy. If they don't do the move, people will simply abandon Fiat for Bitcoin. With the introduction of CBDCs like the Digital Dollar and the Digital Euro, banks will be able to stay in power for a little while.

In fact, CBDCs will give banks and governments more power than usual as they will be able to have a full scope of people's finances. Every transaction will be visible on a digital ledger only they can control. They can't do that with traditional paper money, though. For the end user, the Digital Dollar would work almost exactly the same as credit/debit cards. The person won't notice any difference at all (except banks). Bitcoin's been going strong since day one, so it's likely it'll live alongside the US Digital Dollar for generations. Just my thoughts Grin
Bitcoin is a dream currency for law enforcement. You can trace everything on the blockchain and forever. CBDCs won't change anything in this regard.

Hello 👋

I can see that some people have a high rank and some are lower, is it advisable to take advice from high rank members more serious than jr member and full members?
I would advise to check the trust score rather than the high rank.

Re: About the future of bitcoin - What are you worried about?

I've checked a number of factoid slots and found some points that might find interesting to discuss with you.

I'd like to discuss some of the points I quote below about the future of bitcoin, and I'd really like to know if you're worried about that?

Quote
2. "I'm sure that in 20 years there will either be very large transaction volume or no volume." -- Satoshi
About the second point: It is possible that there was no transaction volume in bitcoin's first 20 years. However I wouldn't worry too much about that because up to now the volume of bitcoin has been huge and bitcoin has dominated the market for a long time.

Then, what do you think about the two points above.
There is a secondary network now, so off-chain transactions don't happen on public bitcoin.

Re: Halving guide for noobs: Why it's not possible for halving to be priced in now
by

My scenario for bitcoin price on the long term:
My scenario for bitcoin price after the halving:
A lot of recent buyers bought BTC just because they read on forums, crypto-medias that the price is going to rise very fast to the moon the day of the halving, or the day after... Cheesy When they will realize it's not true, they will sell because they don't believe in the potential of bitcoin, like long term holders, they are just speculators. No increase, no profit, no reason to hold.
In addition, I think a lot of people in the bitcoin community are really frustrated with the problems of scalability, and the central planning by Blockstream: as I understand this part of the community thinks bitcoin is not anymore the cryptocurrency envisioned by his creator Satoshi Nakamoto and that core devs are working for the blockstream company instead of working in the interest of bitcoin users (we don't care if it is true or not, because it's not the topic here). This part of the community which is feeling betrayed could have sold their bitcoins 3 or 6 months ago, (like Mike Hearn did) but guess what: they are also waiting for the halving, in the little hope of a slight price increase and better conditions to sell.

Hoping the trend holds.   I'd like to see 300s before 2016
It was at 300, then dropped to 200 so this is not progress at all.
I got into bitcoin when it was $9 so its all good to me at this point xD.

hah - well I got in to it when folks around here were giving BTC away free and I think the price was a few cents. Sadly for me the BTC I had on my hard drive (yep I was even mining with a single computer back then) was lost because I formatted the drive. In my defense the BTC price was almost nothing, I didnt understand it at all and  it wasnt looking like it was going to take off. A year or so after that BTC was over $500 so you can imagine how wonderful I felt Smiley. I wish I could have found my old account for the forum as it would have made for interesting reading. Back then more than half the people on the forum were adamant it was a fad

We live and Learn!  Cool
Shocked They were giving BTC for free? Do you remember how many bitcoins you got?

Is there a correlation between the giant pile of U.S debt and the creation of bitcoin currency?
if the debt is converted to bitcoin, is there a risk for China, the United States' largest foreign creditor?

Re: When will be the time for TV ads about Bitcoin?
by
GonnaGrinditout
on 01/08/2015, 21:41:35 UTC
Like it or not, TV still has a lot of viewers, even tho with time it's getting less and less until the internet fully replaces it (just like BTC will replace regular currencies) but until then TV matters.
At what point it will be a good idea for Bitcoin ads to start appearing on there to get people aware? I just saw a Paypal TV ad that was advertising payments with smartphones and over the internet as the next big thing or something. When will Bitcoin be there to claim its place?
Definitely not anytime soon since we can't even solve the blocksize problem yet, but when do you estimate BTC will be mature and stable enough for it?
There was a nice Tv ads about Bitcoin on the Japanese TV Yesterday: Mark Karpeles 's arrest.  Wink
