Well...i bought it lol. I was also looking at spondoolies SP30 but the small power draw makes the s3 more scaleable for a home/office operation.

U can get s3s for under 500. Paid about 90 cents per gh. Spondoolies is about .75-.8? Longer wait time tho.

Beat me to it. I read about it this morning and I'm very happy. This is bigger than Dell because now millions upon millions of people will see they may be able to get paid in Bitcoin. It's not about spending Bitcoin. It's about making Bitcoin. Profit is much more attractive.
The big thing is regulation. Once you factor in govt taxes adoption rate by large merch will slow. I hear Ebay is poised to accept. The question is if these companies are looking at a shirt run bypass on taxes or if they are serious about this. The govt has a whiff and they carry a double edge sword.

Can we only mine with pools with an antminer? Out of curiosity I was wondering how to solo mine. Also, how to load balance. I checked it out but there is no pop up for the load values. I figure this means we have to edit cgminer on the Asic manually?
You can solo mine on anything, but... just don't. Load balancing is on the mining config page, balance or load balance.
I toggled load balance a few days ago in config. I was wondering how to set the load. No options popped up. When i did straight balance my gh/s dropped to about 2/3 total value in both pools registered gh/s even though the miners were going at 450+ each.
Because its load balance, you need 3 pools.
So you can't set load balance to say, 80%, 15%, 5%? I should have been more clear.

Agree there. I think deomcrats COULD possibly support it, if it became more regulated. They love to be seen as "cooler" than Repubs, and Bitcoin is more of a cool and younger thing right now.
There's actually a lot more going on that I generalized into "afraid of it" with my terse comment. One of my Obama-supporting, Democrat, neo-liberal friends absolutely can't be convinced that there's anything wrong with the Federal Reserve system and banking cartel other than that money isn't issued directly by the government (her ideal, not mine). She thinks the TBTF bailouts were necessary. She absolutely can't be convinced that competition should be allowed in currency, even though she recognizes the dangers of monopolies in every other industry. She's afraid that if other currencies are allowed to prosper, one day she might walk into a store and not be able to pay for some goods. My best take on this ideology is a strong desire to preserve status-quo. It's ironically conservative. As long as her credit card works, she isn't willing to risk anything for the possibility of a better monetary system.
...and people scoff when I tell them the American education system is working just fine (for its intended purpose)!

There is an easy counter to a proactive stance of anything driven by humans. Look at Global Warming. There's science saying it is irrefutable. There's science saying it isn't irrefutable. Now politicians have settled on "rapid climate change". Usually it just boils down to fear tactics and generalities. The more ambiguity, the more likely a politcian is able to embrace a side.
The problem from a political point of view is that BTC itself is not very ambiguous. Therefore it will not be embraced.
Another problem is that many crpyocurrencies protect anonimity more than BTC does. BTC will be associated with them. We'll all be projected as murderers, rapists, thugs, terrorists or whatever fear based tactic a policitian can come up with to whip their constituents into a fervor about.
Adoption will depend on the private sector and who the private sector funds politically (through fiat). That's a 50/50 shot because like others mentioned, both parties receive considerable donations from all the same mega corporations.

I freaked a little bit as well when I first joined BTCguild. You don't get your full payment for a share until the 11'th hour I think. Your shares continue to pay out after you disconnect for a bit. Probably a common n00b mistake.

If you are in southern California I just bought my 2nd S3 from www.coiningsolutions.com. I didn't interact on the website but met the vendor in person. You can contact him through this forum if you are good for immediate delivery. Needless to say gas charges could apply if you're asking for a hand delivery.

Everything went smoothly. Transaction was fast and we exchanged pleasantries.
It took me a while to get this one up and running due to my lack of Network knowledge. Waldohoover had offered assistance again but again, I declined. Missing a day of mining is a small price to pay for getting through the toughest part of a hobby on your own.
Both miners are operating at slightly above 445GH/s avg. I am not overclocking and I may plan to under-clock for noise purposes since I may store them in an office environment for discounted electricity. I am not so concerned with profitability as I'm doing this from a hobbyist and curiosity perspective
For that I am certainly happy to have found a good vendor to deal with.

For that I am certainly happy to have found a good vendor to deal with.The heat of my two S3's is a pain in the living room of my 2bdrm 900 Sq ft Apt and I've got nice air being a mile from the Pacific Ocean. I don't mind when I'm not home (my miners rarely go above 42 C).
When I get home I make sure to face a fan outside a window. It's one of those Vornado fans you can get at Target. The thing is tiny but it's a beast. Just point your S3 exhaust towards it and it'll spit hot air straight out the dorm room. This should lower your room's ambient temperature a lot.

Not sure if this will help. I'm using a gold rated single rail 1000w PSU for two S3's. If i plug the PCI-E's into a miner the fans blow but it doesn't boot. I have to use 3 PCI-E in each miner. Not sure if this is just the modular PCI-E cable. Didn't really bother checking.

Thanks guys. When I changed one to DCHP I thought I wouldn't have issues with the 2nd. After crashing my internet for a few hours, being unable to connect to the first S3 to boot I started from square 1...or maybe 2 since I didn't do a full reset on the 1st miner.
I unhooked miner #2 after doing a factory reset on it. I figured I better make sure this baby is clean.
Then I went back to miner #1 and changed back to Static IP address. I changed the IP address to 98 from 99. Then I plugged #2 back in and used the .99 address. I switched everything back to DCHP, found the addresses and basically just followed the guide.
They are both humming away happily while everyone in my living sweats like pigs
It took a total of about 10 hours and a lot of heart ache to get these going but when you finally do, at least from my hobbyist perspective, it feels nice.

Hi guys. Any tips for adding a second S3 miner on the same router?
I can get to LuCI - Lua Configuration Interface @ 192.168.1.99 but then it craps out on me. The first ant is working fine on DHCP 192.168.0.x
Not sure why I can't connect to second one. I tried asking on the support thread but they are more concerned with british people loosing battles and girl with dirty blonde hair at the moment.
