Re: Bittrex still maintaining GRC wallets
by
Gridcoin
on 25/07/2015, 04:32:46 UTC
Any expectation how long will Bittrex maintain GRC-wallets? I think problem was solved one week ago.

Gridcoin is driven by only one buggy developer. It seems not to be truly decentralized cryptocurrency now.

Several of buggy releases and several of blockchain snapshots are published in last few weeks.

Developer is just asking people to remove his coin on Poloniex just because they do not compile his new released code fast enough. (He did not even care about security reviews of his code).

Developer is also trying to move some coin from foundation wallet to his friend.

I do not think Gridcoin is secure currency to invest now.

Gridcoin is entirely decentralized, including our voting system and our ticket system.  (Kaaz1: FAIL)
Bugs happen, and I apologize for that.  I could not predict a NULL block pointer over the last 14 days - and its fixed.  And, it was released as an emergency to keep us from forking.

Poloniex emails me personally, and they are happy to keep Gridcoin.  (Another Fail) your information is FUD.   I spoke to Tristan TODAY.

The Foundation balance is entirely intact with a 40 character password, and no GRC is going anywhere without a PR vote.

Next, I will report you to the mods, and you can go back into your basement my scared friend as Im sure you are hiding behind your computer.

Also - a side note - I banned you on CryptoCoinTalk, and there will be a good chance you will be banned here because you are a detraction to the community and you are defacing our forums.

Best Regards,
Rob H.

PS - I have a good reputation for being honest and never misleading.  If anyone thinks that is not the case - please feel free to post.  Im all about transparency.

If we ever had a threat that the foundation coins would be better off with the community, feel free to vote on releasing them and I will be glad to disperse the entire amount back to all the CPIDs/Investors by shares.

Dear Honest developer.

Decentralized by posting entire snapshots and asking all community to download several times in a week?

if you are all transparency, why did you deleted your own post at CCTalk about Poloniex and Foundation coin ?

--- Edited ----

Your deleted post about Poloniex and Foundation coin has recovered by some good guy.

Quote from: Honest Developer

** I just added a new Poll to Stay listed on Poloniex - a poll to refund the bad deposit loss (from the foundation) that Poloniex took during last weeks forking when the subsidies were high and we had 3 successive mandatories/forks **

I think we should do it - Tristan gave me the txids, and we made enough in interest on the foundation node in the last 20 days to cover it.  Its a bona fide loss as she bought back the GRC on ccex the other night in order to cover her withdrawals.

Your coins aren't worthless, Poloniex still has them and they can still be burned.  We have no control over how Poloniex conducts it's business or what it announces.  They were contacted multiple times between September (before the process started) and the April  20th deadline and were aware of the changes.  It was their choice as to what action they took with that information.

I have been in contact with Poloniex attempting to help them with the transition and the conversion pool is still active and able to burn coins for conversion, a few of us are still supporting the classic chain with hashes just so Polo can burn their remaining coins.

While I understand your frustration that you can't access your coins at this time, I assure you we are working with them to help resolve this even though the deadline has passed. We want nothing more than for everyone who wants their coins to be converted to have them converted.  It is my hope they will have this resolved in the next 24-48 hours and you will be able to either withdraw your coins as research coins and trade them on another exchange or if Poloniex chooses to open a Gridcoin-Research market buy & sell GRC on Poloniex once again.

So that is approximately 1.28 mil classic coins that have not been burned.

So at least $10,000 to $20,000 worth of coins, if your numbers are correct.

The conversion from Gridcoin Classic to Gridcoin POR was announced in October of 2014

Announced where?  Not on Poloniex where people were buying it.  Between October and March, GRCX consistently traded for over 3000 satoshis, going almost to 6000 in November, and then over 9000 in March.  On April 20, the last day of the swap, it was still trading for 4400 before it was delisted with no notice.  All of those people buying and selling on April 20 were unaware of the swap.

If those people buying and selling on Poloniex had happened to check this topic on April 20th, what would they have seen?  Any news about the swap?  I see 4 posts from you on April 20th, and not a single word about all those coins becoming worthless:

Maybe the big reddit thread from the same day?

No, nothing about a swap.

Are deposits working yet?

GRC Research is LIVE on CCEX.

GRC Classic has been renamed to GRCX and GRC Research is available under the original GRC ticker.

GRC Research - https://c-cex.com/?p=grc-btc
GRC Classic - https://c-cex.com/?p=grcx-btc

Exchange Update:

C-CEX:

- Gridcoin Classic has been renamed to GRCX on c-cex
- Coins can still be withdrawn in Assets and then burned
- C-Cex will continue to run the classic blockchain so the withdraws can be made
- Research is compiled, and I confirm the Upgrade feature required the additional commands:
apt-get install libcurl3-dev,   apt-get install libzip-dev
- C-Cex is still provisioning Research under ticker GRC.  This could take a few hours;

** Update 2:

- CC-EX is provisioning GRC Research now (as ticker GRC).  We are working together now to bring the wallet online (Saturday AM PST time).

- I am working with Poloniex now.

- RTM is working on a press release.

Hey Rob, nice to see you make an appearance on this thread. I been trying to keep this bad boy going for ya! Smiley I am very excited about the POR GRC making it to the exchanges. I think that will be a pivotal moment in Gridcoin history.

Thanks a lot Traderman, and btw- really nice image you created!  We'll have to get back to our CCTalk banner ad also.

Any update on Mac version?
Mac Version is packaged for Yosemite, head over to https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/13139-os-x-builds-feedback-bug-reporting/page-3 and post, if you want to see some action in that direction again, or build it yourself from source.

I apologize for not being able to spend as much time as I would like here - Greetings everyone!

Thank you everyone for keeping this coin alive and this thread rolling.

3 Billion and now we are on the first page of boincstats!  Amazing news!

Anyway, I wanted to stop by and give a couple of updates now that the skies are clearing:

1)  After our long delay I think we are 7 days out from listing research on the exchanges; I am reaching out to the exchanges today to get reacquainted.

2)  CryptoBlox has graciously agreed to provide our GridcoinResearch block explorer; we are now working together to compile it.

3)  Regarding Mac Builds:  The code does compile on a mac and has been tested;  the latest build works perfectly in linux on QT & Headless;  we need a volunteer configuration manager to do regular builds so we can link to the compiled Mac versions.

Happy New Year!

I am getting about 1-2 per day with a fairly sizable balance, the rest is interest payments. Lots of little payments!

More or less how many PoR blocks do you find in 24 hours? since now i haven't found one single block Sad
I, for example, have zero payments since 31.10.2014. I asked for help here and at cryptocointalk for 2 weeks. And i still have that problems.
Hi Zulz, just bump the post if someone missed it over there.
Did your nodes stake PoR after 11-1 yet?  I recall one of the last updates addressed newbie nodes in Phase II.

Re: Profitability Calculator for Gridcoin
by
Gridcoin
on 08/11/2014, 14:00:45 UTC

I think that calculator uses wrong BTC/GRC: that's the change for the old GRC, each of which converts to 10 research GRCs, so the BTC/GRC change should be divided by ten.

Not necessarily - it reflects the current GRC/BTC price.  We are optimistic the price will not crash by 10* when we switch tickers.

Currently you can convert a classic GRC, which is about 4000 satoshi, to 10 research GRC, so a research GRC is exchanged at 400 satoshi, and this is the only way you can buy a research GRC with BTC.

I stand by my statement regardless.  Our price is going to be somewhere between where it is now and the reverse split amount.

The market is a free market, so no one knows right now what the result of the calculation will be. (So making a change to the calculator would not be prudent).

I am in Gridcoin Team on all my Boinc projects.

Here is what my wallet currently shows:

I got mature, staking coins, wallet in sync with network, edited the .conf file to let it find my Boinc installation, but still nothing:

Hi Tech1,

The easy way to find out what is wrong is do a "list cpids" from the RPC console.
Look for any individual projects with either an invalid CPID or a team missing or a low RAC.
If you have an issue with every project you will have to work on each problem individually til you have a participating project.

Otoh, if you dont see any cpids, you might have installed boinc in the non-default location.
To make gridcoin see boinc in that case populate this in your gridcoinresearch.conf file:
boincdatadir=c:\\programdata\\boinc\\

Change the path to the correct path.

Good luck-

When is the mac client coming out? Is there a way to burn my classic GRC into Gridcoin-Research without it? I bought quite a bit and it's actually stuck on an exchange without a mac client. Unless there is anything else trustworthy to store them?

Mac client does work! Finally!
But, we havent asked Leder to compile it in a while and I dont have my mac set up yet.

So, if you could please build it from github:\\gridcoin-research for now.

Ill post a message on the other board to see if Leder can compile it.

I think the new port is 9334!

** Proof Of Research Official Launch Date**

10 / 11 / 2014 : 6 PM GST;  1PM CST US

UnixTime: 1413032407

This launch will give us 9 days to work out any issues initializing our foundation, finishing the scrypt phase, giving the exchanges time to initialize the new wallet - and starting the coin exchange program by 10-20 (our one year anniversary).  On 10-20 we will be ready to go live with GRC PoR on the exchanges and start the PR phase.

Rob

PS Download instructions and config info will be available by Saturday.

i'm ready to begin to mine again this great coin!

I really like the pure Proof of Research!!

I've built the wallet from github without problems (yay!), but can't connect Sad Using .conf file
Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9332
listen=1
poolmining=false
cpumining=true
email=my_boinc_projects_email
addnode=supernode.gridcoin.us
addnode=node.gridcoin.us // didn't know which supernode is valid
BTW 2 questions:
1. I don't want to mine scrypt (particularly not on cpu), should I leave cpumining=true or not??
2. I have boincs under 1 username but on a few machines - is it enough to have one wallet with the proper boinc_project_email address, or do I have to have a separate wallet on each machine?

#1:  Its OK to leave it in - the wallet ignores it and starts PoR mining on block 2051. But you have to scrypt mine from 1-2050.
#2: No you can now run just one wallet; it figures it all out by itself now.  But you do have to set "email=" in the config file to your single boinc email.

You can use whatever port you prefer for mining, as long as you set it in the config file, but the important thing to know is each wallet has to have its own port, so if you used 9332 on classic, you have to pick a different port on Research to run them side by side Smiley

Running fine for me, at least on the surface. Now at block 134 (changing fast).

Is it OK/safe/recommended to keep the classic version running at the same time? They appear to use different files, but I'm not sure if there is overlap.

I kept BOINC running, closed classic and started the research version, fwiw.

Hi AI,

Yes you can run them side by side.

On that important note: Please dont forget about classic as we have to keep it running properly for 5 more months so everyone can burn their coins Smiley

I will be releasing the new Research version in 15 minutes for final Production Validation.  You can scrypt mine against it.  I have a lot of configuration to do and will need the new version to be running, so please stay tuned and we can start scrypt mining ASAP.
