What you might want to do is try to make the PPU and SPU miners seperately. go into the /ext/spu directory and try to make the spu. If that works, then go into the ppu folder and make the ppu miner. If it errors out, post the result.

The PS3 will consume between 90-120 W under full load. I guess consumption is in the eye of the beholder.
After some reading, if you have an older PS3 then it will consume more power, usually up to 200W. Mine uses anywhere between 90-120 though.

The PS3 has very minimal power consumption when it is mining. The cost to mine with a PS3 is negligible. It's not going to make you a ton of money by itself but if you have some other miners and you want a kick, the PS3 might be your game.
I doubt the general public would approve of a budget for buying thousands and thousands of AMD video cards. I'm not so sure that would get past any budget hearing.
I'm sure the government has enough computers that they could pull a big enough hash rate to seriously cripple the system if the wanted.

You will only be getting around 22 megahashes. Not too much but if you have a PS3 that isn't doing anything, it might as well be mining.

PS3 Bitcoin Cellminer - Guide and Files Included
by

Hello,
I recently made this guide on how to mine Bitcoins using Verement's Cellminer. The guide goes over how to set up the PS3 and install Debian. The guide is written for PS3s running firmware 3.15 and lower although I'm sure it could be adapted for jailbroken PS3s. Here are the files you'll need:
Follow the directions in the guide and you should be up in no time at all.
Credit should be completely given to Verement - he is the Cellminer king. I just made the guide and changed some of the files.

Now that cellminer is running, how do I get it configured to run with DeepBit? Anyone have any idea?

I got past that last issue and now the spu compiles correctly but when I try and compile ppu it give this error: internal compiler error: in trunc_int_for_mode, at explow.c:56
I know in the other Cellminer page that it was throwing that error up because a compiler version issue. How would I go about fixing this?
Still having the same error however. There wasn't a LDFLAGS variable in the Makefile in /cellminer/ that makes the entire thing. Should I add -fno-use-linker-plugin to that as well?
Am I doing it right?

I am running Debian Wheezy/Sid on my PS3 and I am trying to get Cellminer to work. I am getting the following errors during the make process:
Well, this is great information to know! I thought that someone just had a ATI fetish so it is good to know that there are actual substantial hardware differences that would make a difference. Any good GPU software that you might recommend?

NVIDIA Vs. ATI mining
by

Hello,
I am pretty new to this Bitcoin stuff and I had a few questions. I noticed that the preferred vendor for GPU mining is ATI cards. I have personally always been an NVIDIA kind of guy. I currently have a GTX 460 in my current computer. Is this going to work well to mine with or is ATI really that much better. Also, what mining software seems to be the best for GPU mining? I have seen a few different flavors of software and I'm not sure if they are optimized to run with just ATI cards or what ever the case may be. In short, I'm a newb.
