It's a joke.   Doing so would be asking for combustion.

I hope so. I only see fire hazard all the place in that picture: obstructed fans, close to books, over a carpet, with a pillow...
If that's for real, I wonder how long will it take to catch fire and turn the room into ashes.

I remember a post months ago where you mentioned having 40 FPGA Singles humming along close at hand.  I see they've finally left the cocoon.   Tongue  Cheesy

Really impressive!  I am green with envy.

Most GPUs blow very little out the exhaust holes in the backplate.  Maybe the ones with the old hairdrier coolers on them, but not the type with the 2/3 open fans.  They dump their heat to the case, so adding a fan is ideal.

I agree with what you're saying.  However since they do blow some heat out of those exhaust holes, blowing air into them would seem to be counter-productive.

Ok, time for a bit of showing off my rig:

5x Sapphire Radeon 7970
3750kHash/sec Litecoin
and blowing the heat right out of the window!

Very clean rig.  Nicely done.

Not to nitpick, but wouldn't it work more efficiently to rotate it 180 degrees and reverse the flow of the two large fans to compliment the exhaust of your video cards, rather than push against them?

With a big-ass fan like that, the added benefit greatly outweighs the tiny bit of cooling lost by blowing air up the card's exhaust.

Yeah, I concede that.  The more I consider it, the more I realize you wouldn't be able to channel the air through the cards effectively, since it could draw from anywhere.

Sent you a PM, guessing the answer is no?

I would consider it if no one else wants them.  I'm not going to jump at it just yet though.

Cheapest UPS shipping to NJ (cross country) was around $70 (5 days in transit).

Box is 21"x21"x12" @ 40lbs

So let's just say $125ea + shipping.

I could ship them out Saturday.

The miners are currently in Central Washington at Toomim Brothers.

I'd be shipping from Portland, OR.

I'll sell any amount from 1 to all 7.

$100-$150 + shipping (each - because someone would inevitably ask   Roll Eyes ) is about what I was expecting.

I'll check to see how much it would cost to ship.

I wanted to give a shout out to toomim brothers excellent customer service.

They spent at least an hour last night disassembling, troubleshooting and fixing one of my miners.

Thanks, guys!  I appreciate your dedication to your customers.

Not realizing they wanted a screenshot of BFGMiner, ...

How can I show up the BFGMiner stats?

Not sure if anyone answered your question on this.  In order to see the bfgminer screen, you need to SSH (I use Putty) to your titan as user "pi" with the password you specified for "root" when you first entered the web interface.  Then type "screen -r" to bring up bfgminer screen.  To exit from the bfgminer screen use  "Ctrl-A" followed by "Ctrl-D".  That will disconnect you from screen without stopping anything.

I still have a die not working.  No further contact from Liam.  Maybe I hurt his fee-fees with my post.   Tongue

So I have a die that isn't working.  Running at ~260 Mh/s max since receiving it.

I read this on the KNC titan support forum:

Quote
1 Test the board individually with different data/power cables. Please also plug the data cable in a different port on the controller board. If this board does not have a die issue when ran individually, it is most likely due to a faulty cable connection, or lack of power from the PSU. If you cannot get the die to switch back on, contact support for more assistance.

I tried all of the recommended steps before emailing support.  Not realizing they wanted a screenshot of BFGMiner, I sent them a screenshot of the Advanced screen.  A day later Liam responded back that he would need a screenshot of BFGMiner.  OK, sent them that.

A day later he responds (paraphrasing) "Oh, I see you're mining at <...>  They have problems with the titan.  You should switch to one of these pools <...>

Then he closes the ticket.

Riiight, it's the pool causing a die not to work...WTF  Angry  Roll Eyes

It seems if you took the time to read through threads on KNC's own forum you might actually have found out, yes this is the case, and there is a new interesting thread on the subject.

http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/main-forum/60728-pools-working-with-titan

It seems if you took the time to read my post, you'd see that's not the case.  Pool choice does not cause dies to stop working.  That's like saying the reason my car's engine is missing on one cylinder is because of the road I'm driving on.

I didn't say it was.  I said if they pretend that was never said.  You know, similar to how they said S3 Batch 1 customers would receive a rebate/coupon when they missed their promised hashrate.  Then they didn't do what they said and NEVER mentioned it again.

Are you trying to say they did not compensate Batch 1 customers?

Did the S1 upgrades get released the same day as the S3's?  Nope.  Patience, they will come.
You have nothing on which to base that statement.  In fact, BITMAIN's past behavior supports my expectation.

How come? S1 upgrade kit is available. Is that "nothing"?

That's a fair point.

I'm more referring to these posters who act like they have some special insight into the workings of BITMAIN.

Still waiting on my compensation from Batch 1 S3 purchase.

You might want to mention that your coupon issue is with a reseller, not Bitmain directly. I'm not trying to dismiss it and I get that it's a concern for you, but reseller's actions or lack thereof has nothing to do with the potential S2 upgrade availability.

Yeah, I can see where that might not be exactly fair.  My hostility with 112bit.com (Official Bitmain reseller for the US) is probably definitely coloring my judgement.

Let's wait and see how it works out with the S2 upgrades.  I'll be quite happy to eat my share of crow if things turn out other than how I expect.

Thank you for being civil.
