Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion]

You make it worse with this kind of methods. Do you need accusations like "NEM elite removed accounts that would dilute their share of coins"? Do a cryptographically provable sockpuppet nuking. There are not so many promising coins around, I can't just watch how one of these coins fails from the very beginning. I hope you will follow the advice...

I told many friends to join NEM in the beginning.

They were never active in Bitcointalk forum afterwards. I hope they won't be kicked out, because NEM could bring them to the cryptocurrency world and bring new businesses and people.
But you guys are killing new blood into it. Well done. This way the cryptocurrency world never grow.

They will probably blaim me now for not being active here. Losing faith in NEM.

It's been awhile, but it's now time to move on and end stake redemption.

2/26 will be the deadline for stake redemption.
BTT redemption will continue later in the 2 month extended redemption period.
Nxt AE redemption will end forever on 2/26; your nemstake assets will be worthless after that, so please redeem!!!

A new econemy starts with you redeeming your stake  Smiley
Great news, launch is near  Cheesy

NEM Rocket Cheesy

Nice!

I'm imagining a game with this icon.

Replace this rocket with the NEMrocket.

And replace the targets with the logos of other coins. Voila!

What was the big deal about multisig anyway?
Im not sure why the devs wanted to add this before launch, I would have been happy to wait for it to be added later but it is a good feature, but i should also mention that there are other coins currently already using it.

1) devs will be in control of a huge amount of coins and do not want to risk holding them in regular accounts.. 1 hack = devs lose credibility and nem dies.

2) other coins do have multisig, but not blockchain based multisig. there is a MASSIVE difference.

3) the more skeptical investors, or risk averse, will feel much safer investing in Nem knowing they can secure their investment safely with multisig.

4) 3rd parties(exchanges, payment processors et al) will be able to use multisig to secure funds so we wont have any mtgox, bter, bitstamp [and so] type hacks which make the coin stolen look bad even though its nothing to do with the actual coin(most of the time). also we wont ever end up in the position of nxt having to think about a roll back to recover 5% worth of coins that got stolen.

having multisig ready for launch was the BEST move the devs could have made.

Multisig is a great feature, but you are wrong saying that other coins don't have their blockchain based multisigs. Well, maybe at the moment they don't, but the will have it. And I'm talking about NXT right now. They are implementing their own realization of multisig in v.1.6 - 1.7 of NRS called "two-phased transactions", which they state is "much more powerful".

Here is the thread about it on their official forum.

And that's not all!

With their "Account Control" release it will be more powerful.

Introducing the Monetary System of NXT which solved this issue;

Quote
A "transactional currency" is a "store of value" that is also used as a "transactional token" (aka You must have it to issue txs on the system).  Part of the reason it is a "store of value" is because it has value derived from being utilized as a "transactional token".  The other part is because it is limited in supply.  There are only 1 billion NXT.

It is my opinion that BCNext's intention was to reestablish the original ideals of the Bitcoin movement with NXT.  Bitcoin was originally intended to be a decentralized economy, but it turned into a centralized store of value.  BCNext knew people would hoard NXT because of its value as a "transactional token" on the platform.  This hoarding of NXT would cause a deflationary cycle to occur in the NXT economy if all purchases had to be made in NXT.  No one would buy anything because if they held their NXT, they would be able to purchase more later.  This would cause the NXT system to cease being a payment platform and become simply a "store of value" like BTC.  As you can tell from BTC's history, most people who own BTC don't spend BTC on purchases and if they do, they quickly re-purchase more BTC to replace what they spent.  BTC is NOT a payment platform, but a "store of value" ONLY.  NXT as a system was designed to be BOTH a "store of value" system (utilizing NXT as the "store of value") and a payment platform utilizing MS currencies.

I don't believe the MS was envisioned by BCNext as a way for people to make BTC clones or other "store of value" type currencies.  I believe he wanted it to be used in two different ways.  The first being gateways coming online and allowing people to use their national or local currencies on NXT.  The second being the creation of "social credit systems".  Imo, the reason "anti-deflation" was included in the "Transparent Forging/Economic Clusters" section was because "social credit systems" are "anti-deflationary economic clusters".

So, What is the value of NXT?

Here is a nice comparison of the features between leading cryptocurrencies, nice that NEM is included too:

Part of this chart is wrong or outdated !

The author acknowledged that he made a mistake and will come up with a new version.

If there is a new one please post again.

Are the construction icons indicating that features are planned or that they are actually being worked on ? Pretty sure NEM is currently not working on anonymity (is NXT ?). If it is about planned/desired features then we might as well mark instant tx as under contruction Smiley

Construction icon is presenting a feature where devs are actually working on.

Thanks for your info.

Bitcoin is the only one I have faith in currently. It has merchant adoption behind it and media attention whereas alts don't. They're just essentially for people who missed the bitcoin boat and want to try find the next big thing.

Using Bitcoin as payment is the worst Idea ever.

That's why NXT is releasing Monetary System tomorrow. That way you can create currencies backed by NXT and spend them instead of NXT.

Please issue the asset on the NXT Asset Exchange.

It is the best out there at this moment. See examples;
