Re: Has anything been a good hedge against a financial crisis?

What goes up? - The number of bad debts. House repossessions, unemployment, asset disposal ( this could be why gold may not rise ), suicides.

If you have cash, then it may be a good time to pick up assets. For example, a house that is sold at auction, and needs some maintenance work could be a good buy. If you arrange a deal with a builder for the improvements to be a background job, then you should be able to get the price reduced. Of course, this means the job will take longer to complete, so you will have to consider possible loss of income if it is an investment.

Thanks for your support. I see you are yet another cat - cats are such independent creatures - we need more dogs that do as they are told. Smiley

I've been saying it since 1970 when  Margaret Thatcher ( the Bilderberg Bird ), started to sell off out national assets, and allowed the introduction of fractional reserve banking amongst other things.

Having to resort to personal attacks rather than reasoned logic is more indicative of your myopia and insecurity. You should stop believing the Washington controlled propaganda news sheets, and stop to think about the credibility of the false reports they produce..

Here is a report by Max Blumenthal following his visit to Venezuela. You are welcome to attack me over that, but many of his points seem to ring true to me, and they fit many of the facts and history that I know.

I liked the old idea of replacing the coins in the profile with red crosses. Removing avatars would be a good idea as well.

Schnorr signatures are creeping into the news again

⭐ Merited by dbshck (5)
In case you haven't heard of Schnorr signatures, here is the Wikipedia definition -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schnorr_signature

Here is an article on Medium describing its potential impact on Bitcoin -
https://medium.com/@SDWouters/why-schnorr-signatures-will-help-solve-2-of-bitcoins-biggest-problems-today-9b7718e7861c

I'm starting to see comments that suggest that it could be included in the Bitcoin Core software within a year or so, that sounds a bit optimistic to me. So for all you aspiring Bitcoin pros of the future - do you think that this will have much of an impact on Bitcoin acceptance? This probably won't be so for basic transactions, but would it be useful for asset payments?

It's time I started a merit awarding promo, so I'll be watching this thread for the best discussions, especially from newer members.

Isn't that related to the use of @ tagging? The plugin reports on the use of the quote feature in a post, and it doesn't require any extra posting. I'll try it out on one of my SMF forums, and see how it works.

If I remember correctly, there is a plugin for this available in the SMF library.

recover stolen funds will not possible as we did not manage the money for people..

It could be done if we could track down the scammer, and initiate a legal process.

We need to create a police force, and then try to develop methods to recover stolen funds.

Re: Will the Bitcoin be able to legalize in different powerful countries?
by
JetAid
on 20/02/2019, 11:48:50 UTC
The legalisation of Bitcoin is quite a complex topic. Exchanges can be regulated by various governments, and as they are similar to banks, this may be a good thing. The recognition of Bitcoin as a currency, or the restriction on its use are more difficult decisions for a government, and probably are connected to the security of the bankers who control the country. It is difficult to see how it can be banned completely. Will it ever become legal tender anywhere? Almost certainly not, as not everyone will have the ability to accept the transfer. Of course, if somebody invents a physical token that can be exchanged, then it may have the potential to become legal tender.

The best thing is to read the stickies at the top of each board, and use the search function here to look for specific replies. You will achieve more success in selling your services if you become a respected active member of the forum. That isn't too difficult if you read the topics on the boards that appeal to you. You should also take note of the post that have earned merits, merits are essential for you to gain the rank of member, and then you can post links ( without ref codes of course ).

Member defined rank restriction on thread replies
by
JetAid
on 20/02/2019, 10:26:39 UTC
One of the disadvantages of self-moderated threads is the risk of accusations of political bias. However, self-moderated threads can be useful to reduce the number of off topic replies and spam. One alternative option could be the ability of a thread starter to restrict replies to certain ranks. This could work in both directions. For example, one could specify that replies could only be made by members or above, or alternatively Junior members or below.

Re: Have you actually used bitcoin for any payment in your country?
by
JetAid
on 20/02/2019, 10:15:15 UTC
I've never used Bitcoin for any purchases. I've always thought of Bitcoin as digital gold, and as a form of wealth protection. Since I've been playing on CoinBase, I may use some of the coins there for purchases, and this will mean I don't have to touch my HODL wallets. What is more likely is that I will install a Lightening node, and use that to send and receive payments.

Re: Beginners & Help – sMerit Distribution Summary

As Jet Cash, I do try to help posters on the beginners board, as I agree that it is an important place for new members to learn about Bitcoin, and to slide into the Bitcoin Talk community. It does look as if I'm not contributing enough through posting. Entering into discussions with new members is possibly even more important that the awarding of merits in my opinion. I'm a bit ambivalent about all the stats related to board activity, but this one does seem to be useful in encouraging members to support newer members.

Thanks for posting this. I had to log in as JetAid to see the boards. I had the alternatives on ignore, and this meant all the child boards were ignored as well.

With regards to Lightening, I believe that this is an important development for Bitcoin adoption, and having its own board would improve and speed up adoption. When Bitcoin Talk started there probably wasn't enough adoption of Bitcoin to warrant its own forum, but the forum helped it to become established - lets do this for Lightening as well. If we don't do it, someone else will.

Jet Cash made a couple of posts about this in Fit to Talk English. It was really intended as a guide for foreign language speakers, but some of the points are relevant for English speakers.

I'm a sub-account. That Jet Cash is a snooty bugger, and his Legendary status has gone to his head, so he won't let Newbies send him messages. I'll talk to anybody, so I've enabled PM receipts from all. Especially newbies who want to join the Fit to Talk English project.
